We had the best eating experience at Harbour Cafe. We ordered the shrimps with Icelandic feta cheese, salmon with oven baked potatoes and cheesecake with whipped cream. The food was absolutely delicious! The staff provided an excellent service and made us feel welcomed. It’s very clear how passionate they are about making food with local ingredients. Prices were on par with other restaurants in Iceland. Highly recommended, would definitely visit again.

Small cafe with great food and super friendly staff! We really enjoyed having lunch there. We had a cheese plate, seafood soup and baked lamb. Everything was delicious. And my fiancé tried the shark special! That was such a special experience and the staff made it so fun!

Wonderful food! Had the langoustine soup and their fish special- delicious. My partner did the Viking challenge not once but twice! We ended the meal with a cappuccino and lava cake. Very warm atmosphere and charming host that shares many fun facts and local history.

Stopped in for a quick coffee (which was delicious) that turned into an absolute trip highlight! We tried fermented shark and learned about the process as well as more about Icelandic culture. The gentleman who runs/tends the shop is a wonderful ambassador for Iceland. “til Valhalla!”

We plan to come back in the summer and will visit here again :)

DO NOT MISS!!!
What an amazing cafe. The head chef who welcomed us was hilarious and warm. Gave us free candy and only then allowed us to pick up the menu. Love that kind of hospitality!
Also the food was delicious. I tried shrimp with feta cheese and can’t recommend it enough. My husband tried the slow cooked pork and says that was one of the best meal of his life. A cafe in a small town with incredible talent and warmth.
Thank you so much for your hospitality.

We had a nice lunch here with my partner on our road trip through Iceland. I had shrimps with icelandic feta cheese. It was pretty tasty. It was also was one of the few places in Iceland (of the ones we visited) which served decent quality tea in a pot and pretty good tasting coffee.

Me and my brother stopped in for dinner this evening, and despite the quiet night it was in Grundarfjörður we were welcomed by a warm and cozy atmosphere with festive music and decor. We had amazing food and the server was a delight. He even got us to like fermented shark!

Super cute cafe in town! The menu seems underwhelming but it's all you need. Best salmon I've probably ever had! It was seasoned very well w/ a delicious sauce -Would love the recipe! The lamb soup was decent -not the best I've had on the island.

Cozy restaurant on the harbor with excellent food. We tried the lamb chops and cod fish and both were really delicious. Service was slow and if you are in a hurry you have to keep that in mind.

Tucked away in the picturesque town of Grundarfjörður, Iceland, lies a gem of a dining experience - the Harbour Cafe. Upon entering, you're immediately wrapped in a cozy embrace, with a rustic charm that whispers tales of the sea. The interior, a harmonious blend of comfort and style, features warm wooden accents and an open, welcoming layout. The soft, ambient lighting is just right, casting a gentle glow on the casual yet chic decor.

Now, let's talk about the feast for the senses that is their menu. My wife and I, adventurers at heart and foodies by choice, decided to embark on a culinary journey starting with their salmon panini. Oh, what a delight! The panini was like the warm hug you need after a day out in the Icelandic breeze, perfectly grilled with a symphony of flavors that only fresh, local salmon can provide.

The lamb soup, shared between us, was nothing short of amazing—a hearty embrace in a bowl, infused with the essence of Iceland's pristine pastures. It's the kind of soup that not only warms your belly but also your soul, leaving you in a state of content bliss.

Our Americanos, robust and aromatic, were accompanied by a charming surprise - a tiny chocolate bar that was the proverbial cherry on top of a perfect dining experience. And let's not forget the ham and cheese croissant, a flaky, buttery masterpiece that we split, savoring each bite as if it were our first.

The service? Impeccable! The staff was the epitome of friendliness, not only assisting us in navigating the menu but also teaching us the correct pronunciation of Grundarfjörður - a tongue twister for us foreigners but music to the ears when said right.

Speedy service, food that's a cut above, and a vibe that makes you want to stay all day - the Harbour Cafe is a must-visit. It’s where the warmth of Icelandic hospitality meets the mastery of culinary delights. A resounding five stars!

Perfect spot for a hearty, tasty lunch. Nothing fancy (a cafe), just good food. I decided to try the Plokkfiskur - filling, delicious cod, potato and onion casserole. Just what I needed for a hike on a cold, blustery day.

Great local restaurant! Food was hot and the beer was cold. Service with a smile and comfortable seating. My wife had the lamb and I had the fish pie. Both dishes were excellent. I’d definitely eat here again. Menu is the same as posted on their site.

We tried fermented shark at this place (they call it the viking experience) and the waiter had a lot of fun explaining things about the experience of eating fermented shark. It is cosy and the price is reasonable. Well worth your time.

How are we discovering this place only now? So cozy and beautiful inside, with attentive service and wonderful home-cooked meals! Great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We enjoyed our lunch with baked lamb & roasted potatoes plus plokfiskar (baked cod & potatoes) and chocolate cake and berry cheese cake with coffee to top off the meal. It is our new favorite place!

Absolutely loved this place. Danny, who runs it, was warm and welcoming and even stayed open longer so we could have a drink and a cake. The menu is simple but tasty and it is a lovely warm atmosphere, especially in winter. Highly recommend!

Lovely place to spend an evening. Great food, drink and hospitality. Meat and fish menu offers a wide range of options, and vegetarian and vegan options are available, just ask. Lovely people who are only too happy to share knowledge of the local area and culture. Highly recommend 👌
