This place is so special! It came highly recommended by friends and did not disappoint. My friend and I stayed in a yurt for four nights and did day hikes and relaxed during the afternoons. The beds were very comfortable! The showers were hot, the sauna was great, and the food exceeded our expectations every single night. I don't understand the negative reviews about not being able to drive there without a high clearance vehicle. The website couldn't be clearer about how to get there. I purchased bus tickets for us at the same time I booked and it was seamless. I also appreciated that the website outlined meal costs so we could plan our budget. I recommend pre-paying for breakfast and dinners as I think it comes out a little less depending on the exchange rate. Thank you Volcano Huts for an experience of a lifetime!

We stayed in the glamping tents and it was wonderful. The tent was cozy but had enough room for our kids to join us to play cards. We found warm showers, filling food, good beer. But most of all the location is spectacular! We hiked for 3 day straight. Wonderful.

I camped here for two nights and it ended up being an experience I will never forget. The location of this property is everything. You have access to many well marked trails if you plan on staying in the area but what really made this trip unforgettable was the staff. Everyone was very friendly but particularly a very sweet and beautiful couple from the Czech Republic. Tereza and Daniel made me feel like I was a member of the family and that goes a long way when you’re feeling a bit homesick 4000 km from your loved ones. Thank you so much for making this trip absolutely unforgettable!

Stayed in this place after finishing the Laugavegur Trail and before starting the Fimmvörðuháls trail. We do excited by the comfort and amenities. Showers are nice and hot and unlimited. The provided towels. We stayed in the glamping tent and it had the most comfortable bed ever. And it can with an outlet to charge devices. The restaurant had good food. A bit pricey- but for Iceland and being in the wilderness, it was a good value. Only con is the "hotspring" and sauna. The hotspring is sad- and not warm. Sauna was warm-ish but had some cracks in it so had cold spots, so wasn't really enjoyable. But otherwise we loved our stay.

Wonderful Icelandic landscape 💯. The end of Laugavegur and the beginning of my Fimmvörðuháls hike.

We stayed at the Volcano Huts in August 2019 when we were here for our honeymoon and decided to come back in June 2023 because it was great. The restaurant had good food. I have Celiac disease and they have good gluten free options. We paid for dinner, breakfast, and a packed lunch to go. We stayed in the glamping huts and the sleeping accommodations were good. If light bothers you when sleeping, bring and eye mask! The hiking nearby is wonderful and I highly recommend them.

This place was amazing! My boyfriend and I stayed here for 1 night at the end of May 2022 and it was the highlight of our trip. We had a glamping tent which was super cute, and the hospitality was awesome! They had food, beer, wine, showers — pretty much everything you need. Plus, there are so many amazing hikes nearby.

Thorsmork – the Valley of Thor – is situated in the South Highlands of Iceland between the mountain glaciers of Tindfjallajökull and the world-famous Eyjafjallajökull, with Mýrdalsjökul at the rear end of the valley. Þórsmörk is named after the Norse God of Thunder, Þór, and the real heart of it is the area between the rivers Krossá, Þröngá and Markarfljót. Enjoy Birch forests, shrubs, moss, and thriving vegetation as you spend the day hiking through the beautiful valley of Þórsmörk.

One of the places one must visit in Southern Iceland. This place has its own charm and even its own weather. Sitting between two platous and close to glaciers it is forming some sort of special climate zone. Every time we drove there it is always sunny and scenic here. Do the hikes, visit places. The veiw never makes you tired. I have been coming here for the past 3 summers and can't get enough!

Hiked here with a bit of a detour after finishing the Laugavegur trail in Langidalur. Great camping with free and unlimited hot showering which was great. The food is incredibly expensive but pretty good.

We stayed in one of the small huts, 2 adults and 2 teenagers, and it was great! The huts have cooking facilities, electricity and cold water. The nearby porta-potties are the nicest ones I have ever seen! But what impressed me the most was the staff at Volcano Huts. They were incredibly friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to assist us and I cannot praise them enough! Þórsmörk is of course an amazing place to experience, but it does help to have a comfortable place to stay while you are there.

This was absolutely perfect for hiking one of the most beautiful hikes in the world, the fimmvörðuháls trail! Managing logistics was difficult but Pauline, who works at the huts, was extremely helpful and not only helped to make arrangements, but made sure everything went smoothly. We stayed in the private rooms and they were great for what we needed. We peaked in the glamping tents and they looked very nice! We went across the river multiple times and it was crazy fun. Everything about this trip was crazy fun and beautiful!

This place is a hikers paradise! You can camp, stay in a hut, cook yourself ot go to the restaurant. The breakfast is very tasty. Friendly people, good company, we enjoyed our stay here. But your enjoyment here comes from being outdoors during the day.

If you need a place to stay on your road trip this is the place. Don’t care about the amenities but it’s a good place to sleep before you are on the road again.

Fantastic tour around (th)órsmörk on a super keep. I would not recommend trying this in your rental, unless you want to void your insurance and provide entertainment to everyone else watching you trying to get out!). We did ours with Southcoast and had a great time.

Just the atmosphere of joy to be away from city, cares and enjoy the remote setting. The food is good, the staff members are friendly and efficient. Beautiful hiking through birch forest to high points where the glaciers seem close. Wonderful time watching mountain bikers go down here. Saturday is a very lively happy scene with lots of people, dogs, children, trail runners, mt bikers.

You will be amazed by the stunning beauty of the nature. It’s just alive paintings everywhere you look.
To get there we crossed 15 rivers so better to be on a super jeep (all very much depends on weather) or have a skills to drive through the rivers

Amazing Experience. Best part was the drive up here. We took a 4x4 SUV up the F249 and called the resort once we got to the final river crossing. We crossed probably 10 small rivers on the way up and we had cell service the entire time so we never had to worry about getting stranded. Once we got to the final river crossing there is a sign for the volcano huts with a phone number that you can call to help get across the river for a small fee. 100% would recommend.

I had an amazing stay at the volcano Huts during my short holidays in October.

After the great off-road drive through the river we arrived at a beautiful scenery. We saw an emergency exercise with a helicopter to save people during winter, a great treat!
Except for this short exercise the place was very peaceful and quiet. It was great to relax due to the solitude.

The people working there were very kind and friendly the moment we arrived. We got the key to our rooms with a great view upon the nature.

We watched a few arctic foxes running around as well, they started coming out when the helicopter had left. Great to see them while they are turning more white since winter is coming.

The food was great and I never ate lamb like this with a great herb mix. They also had everything for an lactose intolerant friend of mine, an unexpected and pleasant experience to have in the middle of nowhere.

The hike in the morning up the mountain next to the huts was great as well.

If possible, I will visit again during Summer.
