Kilimanjaro is very popular with both experienced hikers and first time trekkers because it is considered to be the easiest of the seven summits. It is the largest free-standing mountain rise in the world, meaning it is not part of a mountain range.

A beast of a mountain and difficult to climb. Trails are rough and when oxygen starts getting thin walking becomes stressful. Everyone reacts differently at altitude. Great views, long hiking days! Pole! Pole! Enjoy every difficult step, mud unlike anything I’ve ever seen in the rainforest, unbelievable porters carrying everything including a toilet and tent. And when you have diarrhea in the middle of the night you’ll be damm glad there is a toilet. Loud monkey noises above your tents the first night sounded like something out of Star Wars! You could be at Disney World spinning in a plastic tea cup! You choose Kilimanjaro! Good choice, this is real living, whether you summit or not, doesn’t matter. Everything and everyone on this trek is unbelievable! Wow! It’s great to be alive! Thank you Africa and Mt. Kili!

Beautiful place and great people with the right guiding company. Summiting is non-technical but challenging due to the high altitude, the view from the top is incredible.

10/10 experience! Recommend the trek to the summit a lot! The diffrent landscapes on the mountain are breathtaking, the people are so amazing, they put in a ton of work to ensure the guests of the mountain have a great experience, the facilities at the diffrent camps were so much better than I expected too. I do not have any bad remarks of the mountain. Loved every part of it!

Did a 6- day machame route. The views were breathtaking and the trek itself was hard especially the summit day. Highly recommend climbing Mt Kilimanjaro

Very challenge😌 to climb this mountain is not easy. The only one thing to understand this is highest mountain in Africa so once you climb this mountain you have to believe that you can do and never give up .

Only one step helps you to summit🤗🥳

Climbing Kilimanjaro is NOT a wilderness experience. Huge crowds of people at all the campgrounds, and you are required to climb with porters, guides, and a cook. The rangers check on this. There's a fair amount of litter. The outhouses tend to be dirty. No toilet paper. Even so, this is a fun and challenging climb. It seemed that almost all the people made it to the summit, even people who weren't particularly physically fit. The guides will go to almost any length to get people up to the summit. We even saw one client being physically pushed up the mountain! We saw monkeys on the way in and out (we did Lemosho route). Lots of wild flowers, and some unusual plants. Overall, a great experience.

Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro was a wonderful experience enhanced by the kindness and support given me by my Guide, Chef, Personal Assistant, and supporting Porters. A super bunch of guys (Serengeti African Tours)

One of the most beautiful experience I.have ever had. There are waterfalls like 13km from main gate where you can spend good time. Nice chairs and bird watching experience

Climbing Kilimanjaro is highly recommended

During summit night, the guides and summit porters sang our group to the summit and helped everyone when needed with carrying our backpacks and ensuring that we were well hydrated and had enough to eat in order for us to make it to the summit.
Located within Kilimanjaro National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest Mountain in Africa and is one of the most sought-after climbing destinations in the world. Climbing Kilimanjaro is a challenging and rewarding adventure that takes trekkers through diverse landscapes, from lush rainforests to rocky slopes and icy glaciers. The climb typically takes five to nine days, depending on the route and the climber's fitness level. With the right preparation and a reliable guide, anyone can conquer Kilimanjaro and witness the unparalleled beauty of Tanzania from its summit. A trip to Tanzania is surely incomplete without experiencing the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro.
Kilimanjaro is the fourth most topographically prominent peak on Earth. It is part of Kilimanjaro National Park and is a major hiking and climbing destination. Because of its shrinking glaciers and ice fields, which are projected to disappear between 2025 and 2035, it has been the subject of many scientific studies.

5 day Marangu route was awesome!! Guide Baraka was incredibly knowledgeable and couldn’t have done it without team. My recommendation: you can do it while staying in tents on other routes but it likely costs much more. I was able to do the 5 day route no problem and the best views are 100% from the top which any route takes you on. Spend the less money and stay in huts, was a no brainer to me. The high down was definitely tough especially after summit day. Drink tons of water!!

I did an 8-day trek on the Northern Circuit.

The park is clean for the most part. Although there was some litter, it wasn't much.

The trails were in good shape and the camps were fine. My trekking company provided me a private camp toilet, so I can't comment on the public toilet.

I am glad I planned my trek for October. The mountain wasn't crowded and the weather was spectacular.

On summit day we were the first team to reach the summit. We had Uhuru Peak to ourselves for almost 45 minutes and watched the sunrise. It was a fantastic experience.

We descended via Mweka Gate and the trails could use some work. They are quite rocky and hard on the knees. I can only imagine the injury rates for the porters. I kept expecting to see a sign saying "This trail sponsored by the Tanzanian Association of Orthopedic Surgeons".

All in all it was a great trip and glad to see Tanzania is doing a good job of conserving one of their greatest assets.

THE PRIDE OF AFRICA

They say a Kilimanjaro climb is like traveling from the equator to the North Pole. That’s because Kilimanjaro is so massive it contains five distinct climate zones. Cultivated, Rainforest (Montane Forest), Heath and Mooreland, Alpine desert and Arctic Summit. You’ll pass through each of them on your way to the summit.
