Shira Camp

Shira Camp One was our destination for the end of day 2 and the only day we had a little bad weather, not that the picture show anything but beautiful views, on the entire trek! The trail slowly gets worse each day, but a reliable pair of hiking boots are your bestfriend on this mountain!

Pleasant spot, hard to get to. Don’t make a mess of it!

Day 2 of the Machame route after passing through the Moorlands. Felt like more of an actual hike day. Ground for camp is rockier and drier. Acclimation day. So a short hike after arriving to this camp is going to happen.

Second camp on the Machame route. At an altitude of 3750m. The hike from Machame camp is short but steep, going through the moorlands. Beautiful views of Shira and Meru in the distance.

Clean and well maintained. The view of Mt Meru and the Kilimanjaro peak in the background were epic.
Be sure to visit Shira caves less than a kilometer away. You can also visit cathedral peak from Shira camp if your time allows.

Have to pass from Mti Mkubwa camp to Shira 1 and to Shira 2..
Altitude at more than 3000 AMSL, is a mooreland.. a bit cold..
Can have spectacular views of Uhuru peak particularly at sunset.. have to cross streams on d route..

Best campsite along the Machame route up to Uhuru Peak. The campsite was large, flat and spacious with a great view of the sunset.

Shira camp is the second camp in the machame root Which have almost 5km from machame Hurt .its so cold camp than machame Hurt (first camp)
