Musical Instruments museum

Just had the most inspiring, heart felt, educational cultural experience, graciously hosted by Herr Askold, who also performed on more than a dozen instruments live before us.

Please please please visit this amazing museum if you are here! I have met very few people with Herr Askold's dedication and knowledge of his instruments and the music. Amazing.

If you're in the area you CANNOT miss this museum. We've been to so many museums in our life, but never has our experience been as deep and engaging as this particular museum. Our host/curator Askold was tremendously knowledgeable about the instruments, and demonstrated so many interesting ones from all over the world. His passion for his work is amazing, and it really shows in the way he pours his heart into presenting the various instruments. We came at a quiet time on a Wednesday afternoon and we're treated to a private "concert" with lots of explanations about the various instruments.

Beyond the actual instruments and demonstration that Askold put on, the real takeaway from the museum is the deeply human experience that it was. The sheer joy of pursuing one's passion and sharing it generously with strangers - really an inspiration.

Great and inspirative visit. Owner of the museum is humble and talented man who is collecting and even playing instruments from all over the world. He can make live show of not very typical instruments from different countries and continents. He loves instruments and he is able to share this passion during the visit. It was very strong experience for me and my family. Thank you!

Would give six stars if possible. Just spent over two hours there on a sunny day in August and couldn't be happier with that choice.

Proprietor is very friendly, incredibly talented, and clearly loves what he does. He plays many of his ~5000 instruments from all over the world, and I promise it will blow your mind.

If you are in St Gilgen you must not miss this experience.

We had a wonderful visit to the Musical Instruments Museum, the instruments brought us there but the welcoming, teaching and live music made it the highlight of the day. A must for almost everyone.

This is one of the best things you can do in Salzkammergut. An amazing journey into a person's lifetime worth of passion for music. Be prepared to be enchanted :)

The manager and the only employee in the museum is a wonderful person which the music and the stories from his adventures make the day and the visit in the museum a "must" attraction.

Amazing place

Meine Freundin und ich waren an einem Freitag um 10 Uhr dort. Durften sofort rein.. eine super tolle Austellung mit vielen spannenden Instrumenten aller Welt. Dazu spielte Herr Askold viele Instrumente vor und erklärte auch deren Hintergrund/Ursprung. Wirklich ein tolles Erlebnis für alle, die Musikinstrumente anderer Kulturen erleben wollen!
Für 4€ auf jeden Fall wert!!

Herr Askold zur Eck hat uns wundervolle 2 Stunden in seinem einzigartigen Museum von Musikinstrumenten aus aller Welt beschert, die Präsentation einiger ausgewählter Herzstücke war informativ und äußerst unterhaltsam, wir haben unzählige Fragen gestellt und alle wurden uns geduldig und liebevoll beantwortet. Ich kann es gar nicht in Worten ausdrücken, wie bewegend und ergreifend dieser Nachmittag für uns war, meine Empfehlung lautet: geht hin und fühlt die Leidenschaft, mit der der Museumsinhaber für seine Sammlung lebt, ihr werdet es nicht bereuen!

Ein überraschender Nachmittag. Was für ein begeisterter Besitzer. Eine wunderschöne Sammlung von Musikinstrumenten. Davon hat er selbst etwa 20 gespielt. „Ich werde nicht aufhören, bis alle weg sind“, sagte er 😱. Leider mussten wir gehen, sonst hätten wir Pizza und Wein abgeholt 😄.

C'est un voyage hors du temps que nous offre Askold. En empruntant à ses côtés les chemins de la musique, on côtoie culture, histoire, contrées du bout du monde, humour...
La passion de l'artiste crée la surprise . Un pur moment de bonheur

Sehr spannend und interessant, ein kurzweiliger Nachmittag.

Es hat uns richtig gut gefallen, auch unseren Kindern. Die Musikinstrumente und auch die Vorführung von eben diesen waren sehr schön und haben uns beeindruckt. Es war sehr toll, dass es eben kein ,,normaler“ Museumsrundgang war, wie man ihn aus Kunstmuseen kennt, sondern einer mit Erklärung und Konzert. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

Wir waren mit unseren Kindern dort. Wir waren alle beeindruckt von der Sammlung an Instrumenten. Und als dann noch verschiedene Instrumente vorgestellt und gespielt wurden kamen die Kinder aus dem Staunen nicht mehr heraus. Auf jeden Fall einen Besuch Wert! Und der Eintrittspreis war mehr als okay.

Unieke ervaring. De eigenaar heeft veel muziekinstrumenten van over de hele wereld. Hij vertelt over de instrumenten en speelt erop.

Sehr beeindruckende Sammlung,
der Inhaber stellte uns einige Instrumente vor und spielte auch auf sie,
bei den vielen Ausstellungsstücken muss ich unbedingt noch einmal vorbei kommen,
