Lovely garden, the staff were quick and very friendly. The food was good too, I had the Spinat Knödel with salad - loved it. They also have a small playground which is great for people with kids.

This is hidden behind the road with a garden for good weather.
The salad was delicious and presented beautifully, photo included. All kinds of fresh greens.
The homemade pasta with cheese and onions comes in its own pan. Generous portion.
This is the only veggie option on the menu.
They had a delicious local red wine. My husband had the boiled beef. He found the potatoes to salty so they showed him how to mix the plate with the horseradish and also brought him boiled potatoes.
Our waitress was charming. She took time to explain the menu. The service was rapid.
The women were dressed traditionally. The atmosphere was low key.
I definitely recommend.

My parents used to take me to Wirt am Gries ever since I was a little kid. I always feel like returning to my childhood when I get a chance to stop here for a dinner. For me, without a doubt, the best Austrian restaurant. And the service is always friendly and very kind.This restaurant will always hold a special place in my heart :-)

Amazing atmosphere, extremely friendly staff (they speak English) and delicious food. I recommend the deer steak and the Kaiserschmarrn.

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in the heart of St. Gilgen. Here you will greet with great hospitality. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing! Sip your wine in a truly romantic atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Wonderful place to have a dinner with traditional Austrian feeling. Place is furnished in tyrolian style, stuff is extremely pleasant and friendly. Dishes are without a flaw, whatever you try, you won't be disappointed. Prices are in normal range for this area. They accept credit cards and there is also indoor/outdoor place for kids. PS: try home made Dandelion soda 🌼

The best place in Sankt Gilgen. Great food, extremely nice service and a wine list to impress. I spent a nice Sunday evening there and was impressed by the menu and overall a great experience.

The food and drinks were amazing. Quiet little spot off the beaten path was what we needed. Idyllic biergarten with playground and small farm. You need to go here.

The best Kaiserschmarren I have ever had. Absolutely incredible food. Highly recommended.

Food: Good. I had Tafelspitz and my partner had deer cooked in a red wine sauce with spaetzle. I must say I preferred my partner's dish but that is more a matter of taste rather than quality of the cooked dish.

Service: Great. Everyone with interacted with was courteous and friendly. Good recommendations were offered for wines to pair of food.

Ambience: Very good in the summer. It was a hot day, we had an outdoor table, the garden was lovely and the tranquility from the hubbub of St Gilgen was palpable.

Price: Not cheap but not expensive. It was a treat meal rather than a celebratory dinner.

Would visit: If you're in St Gilgen in the summer and fancy an early dinner to toast your holiday, then definitely make a reservation or come early (18:00) to avoid disappointment.
