In 2003 we needed a new roof so we contacted Gryphon Extreme Roofing and other companies for estimates. We chose Gryphon because Dave Spalla was professional and explained all the different choices they were offering. I will mention that they were not the lowest estimate we had but we appreciated the honesty and customer service that was offered. It is now 2024 and we need to have some minor repairs done to the roof, so once again 21 years later Dave is working on our roof again. He is as pleasant as he was 21 years ago, and I would recommend Gryphon to anyone who is looking for an excellent roofer that offers good quality products and labour. Gryphon gets a 10 out of 10 for great work and service, keep up the good work Dave.

GRYPHON Extreme Roofing was our choice when we needed to replace our roof and they did not disappoint! We did get several quotes and are more then pleased with our choice. We were relieved when Dave Spalla of Gryphon Extreme Roofing, who had been working across the street, agreed to replace the shingles etc that a previous roofer had just installed at our place but in a highly substandard way. From the start he seemed genuine and interested in doing a good job. His manner made sense to me, as he grew up in the Port Hope area, and was invested in developinging and maintaining a good reputation. He necessarily consulted with us throughout the project, as fixing the problems created by the previous roofer was not straightforward. His crew had worked with him for years, and, for instance, took extra care to not wreck plants in the garden, including those of our neighbour. They all seemed to enjoy their work and it was a pleasure having them around. They were diligent about their safety.
Gryphon Extreme is more expensive than some other roofing companies, but we learned the truth of its motto that in the long run cheap roofers actually end up costing the customer more. Thanks, Dave, for that lesson.

We used Gryphon Extreme Roofing previously on a less than simple job for any roofing company. Because they did such an outstanding job then, we decided to trust them with another challenging job with our new renovation. Dave and his fellas did not disappoint on the second job either. It was obvious from even the quote stage that Dave's first priority was us getting the finished product we wanted at a very competitive price. Gryphon offered more than other companies as far as finish and it never once felt like we were getting taken advantage of. If a comparison question came up, Dave always had an answer we could understand. Once we decided to go with Gryphon Extreme Roofing, we nailed down a start date. We were always kept updated as to how their schedule was working out. They completed the job within the week they said they would even after letting us know that the weather wasn't exactly cooperating leading up to our start date. The professional manner with which every member of the team acted while on site for the two days they were here was noticed by even our neighbours. The job ended with a cleanup that far exceeded what I expected. What more can you ask for? Competitive prices. Open explanations. Top notch workmanship. Superior clean up. Professionalism throughout. Dave was great to deal with and very fair as I did shop around. His workers were very professional. They did a great job cleaning up and when there ended up being unexpected work, Dave was fair with pricing. Roof looks great and would highly recommend Gryphon Extreme Roofing.

How a negative turns positive

My issue in short:
-       New house, 4 years old – Grrr
-       My initial issue was my gutters as they were leaking
-       Had 4 companies in, all said the same:
o   Over hundred nail pops, ridge vents were too wide hence water/snow was entering the attic, i.e. the roof was not put on properly
-       Builder was the previous owner, therefore No Tarion Warranty
-       When I met Dave, my gut said yes – he is personal and not a hard sell
-       Work started, his team arrived on site – they were all very personable, they all worked as a team.  Further, in talking to his team, the majority had been with him for over 5 years – which says a lot
-       Job was completed, they all worked to clean the site – which was done perfectly – no nails or debris left
I honestly cannot say enough positive things about Gryphon Extreme Inc..  I would be please to talk to any potential customers – please ask Dave Spalla for my number and if you’re in my area please stop by the house to see the excellent roofing job Gryphon Extreme Inc did on my roof and gutters.

Just had my roof in Oshawa replaced by Gryphon Extreme Roofing. It is the 2nd time I have hired them (1st being in Pickering 9 years ago) to replaced my roof. I was so pleased the 1st time, I looked them up again for this replacement. They were just as great the 2nd time! Dave and his crew are fast, efficient, friendly and a pleasure to have around. The roof looks fantastic, they went above and beyond, and they cleaned up so well, that I couldn't even tell they had been there. Awesome company, great price and I highly recommend them!

Dave and his crew have just finished our roof. We couldn’t be any happier. We chose Gryphon over another local crew based on reviews and a personal recommendation from a friend who had also used his services.
We had a ton of problems with the roof in the 2 years we had lived here (house is only 8 years old). We had major leaking through the windows and skylights. Dave was very thorough in what he suggested. He was very easy to communicate with and walked us through every step, sending me pictures from the roof of every problem he came across (and there were lots) we felt very confident we had chosen the right person from the start!
The whole crew were very courteous, and clean up was fantastic which was very important as we have dogs (sorry about the crazy dogs Dave ha ha)!! There’s a few others on the subdivision that have changed their roofs, ours stands out way above them. The quality is just there, can we just say valleys...wow so impressed!!
Dave’s quote actually came in under the other local roofer, altho this was not the reason we chose him, yet the workmanship exceeded all expectations, this is quality workmanship at its very best, Dave puts his heart and soul into his work and it shows. Very happy and when we have our gazebo built next year we will be having Dave back to shingle that to match without a doubt.

The owner Dave was the first person who took out a ladder and climbed up on the roof to inspect it! Other companies simply measure from the ground and give you a quote. I also appreciated the level of detail in the quote. I knew exactly what I was getting. The after pictures and video were also a nice touch.
