Great British Grub cafe

We stopped here quickly looking for some lunch. I had the fish cakes and salad. I loved my fish cakes and would come here and order them again. The service was nice and the food came out quickly. The atmosphere is as expected in the area and has a homey British theme.

A slice of British cafe heaven in the heart of Truro. Inside you will find a cozy, ambient atmosphere reminiscent of cafes in the UK. The staff are welcoming, and the owners hardworking and hospitable, ensuring your experience meets the highest of standards every single time. The food is simply excellent, with an array of British cuisine, but I highly recommend the Full English and Celtic breakfasts, along with the homemade meat pies, cheese and onions slices and mushy peas. We have been coming here for years and will continue to do so for many more. If you haven’t tried Great British Grub, what are you waiting for?!

Nice sunny spot to eat a great breakfast. The full english is great. Try the blood pudding spread on toast. Coffee is good, and I had IRN BRU with my breakfast 😆.

My first time eating there and it didn't disappoint! Me and the Hubby both got breakfast, everything was cooked and seasoned so well.

The place is just so cute and the staff were very friendly.

A sweet little shop and cafe with a lovely assortment of in-house baking and pies. My toddler chose a 5" steak and cheddar pie alongside a raisin cookie, and my spouse chose a super large millionaire shortbread square with a total cost of $12 (and some change) after tax, incredibly affordable. Both sweets were eaten within minutes of leaving with huge raves. We will return and are excited to try their dine-in breakfast.

I know your customers will mostly be Canadian so I understand why but it is a wee shame I didn't get British style bacon with the breakfast. And us Scots have black pudding in our breakfasts too! Not going to drop any stars for the sake of me being pedantic though.

I love coming here for breakfast! The food is fast, affordable, and good. I’ve tried the full English and Celtic, but I usually just go for the Canadian. The potatoes are fresh and delicious. The staff is really friendly. My coffee is refilled. I also had a good rueben. Sometimes parking is a challenge. The entrance smells like lingering smoke, which almost chased me away on my first visit. But it seems to be gone once I get inside.

I lived in the UK for five years and quite often miss some good old fashioned British food.

This place is not just great British food it's great food. Large breakfast selection plus lunches. There is usually a curry special as well. Very fair prices.

My top pick is the Eccles cakes or any of the curries.

I am new to the area and Google recommended Great British Grub for vegetarian food which I thought was a bit strange since the Brits aren't known for being herbivores.
I was pleasantly surprised that they had a decent menu of vegetarian breakfast items. I had a breakfast wrap and it was very good. Also great price and atmosphere.

A bit of a long wait (we visited on a Sunday afternoon so it was quite packed) however the service was friendly and the food was worth its while!

One of, if not the best breakfast I've had! Server was extremely nice, and potatoes were some of the best we've ever had. Too bad we live across the country or we'd be definitely be back often!

Me and my wife love this spot. We recently moved to Nova Scotia from Ontario where their is an abundance of British food shops but nothing of way of cafe/restaurants offering a sit down experience of the UK.

Great British Grub does a brilliant job of this, I've been for a pie and chips lunch (I got pictures but that was earlier in the summer and can't seem to find them!), But it was delicious and sitting on the patio in the sun felt very much like a good beer garden! Then a trip to Victoria Park recommended by the owner, I had no idea about it and it became one of my favourite places in the province! It makes for a great day out doing both, especially when driving in from Halifax.

I was in again recently as I was passing through Truro and got myself a Scottish breakfast, adding an English sausage! It was all very good, this time eating inside. It was a Wednesday morning and the place was packed the entire time we were there. My wife got the veg Balti and loved it!
Upon leaving we grabbed a lemon cookie, it didn't make it to the car, my wife nipped in and grabbed 6 more which didn't see the next day!

Overall it's a brilliant experience offering an authentic British experience here in Nova Scotia through excellent food and exceptional service. Any time I'm in the area I'll stop in and any time I have visitors from Ontario or the UK I'll make a day of visiting GBG and Victoria Park!👏🇬🇧

On business from Ontario, found myself in this area and was recommended by my customer. Good service, friendly staff. Food was tasty, would go back for the meat pies!

First visit. Food was great and the service was great. Bacon was cooked perfectly crispy and maple taste. Trues the celtic breakfast. The homemade potato cakes and sausage patty were perfect. Coffee was of the best quality too. They had almond milk if thats your choice.

Delightful spot. Well-staffed. Lots of retro British memorabilia & authentic menu items (Staffordshire Oatcakes will be your new breakfast/brunch fave) - from Scotch Eggs & Cornish Pasties to full British or Celtic breakfasts & Coronation Sandwich with Barley Soup. Small patios fore & aft, as well as indoor dining. Takeaway baked goods.

What a great place. I had the beef soup (amazing) and a beef and mushroom pie that was even better. I highly recommend, I'll be back.
