Kela's Fisherman's Fish & Chips

A pleasant stop along the highway. There aren't many places that serve a hearty fish and chips alongside an authentic diner-style Greek salad. The batter on the fish was excellent and the French fries tasted homemade. The two piece Halibut and fries was easily split between two people. We'd certainly come back on our way up to Peterborough.

I ordered 1 piece halibut with fries for take out. I was really impressed with the portion size since a lot of other establishments are charging more and giving less, especially Fish n' Chips places. However, this restaurant has 1 pc with fries for $12.99 and the size of the fish was perfect. There was lots of fries with my order too.

Having read many great comments I had to try. Picked up the to go special. 1 halibut and chips for $12.99. Are you kidding me with this price, what a deal. If it tastes good. Well no disappointment, it was very good. The best I've had, no. But better then all the others I've tried based on comments. I will certainly be back, and looking forward to trying more things on the menu. The people were awesome, timing was bang on, and the price point is pretty hard to beat. Highly recommend

Came in after reading many reviews of this restaurant being a tiny gem. We got fish and chips and I got a burger and salad. We are very happy with the food, portion size and the waitress. Food portion was great. Food was perfect. Not too much breading, there was actual fish and it was yummy. My burger was perfectly done. Nice soft bun and my salad was yummy too. Our waitress tended to us the perfect amount. I hate when people hover over us with fake personalities. She came, got our order, made sure we were all set, then let us eat. Very happy with everything. Price was about the same as if we eat at a fast food place. We will be back. Thanks so much.

Being new in the area I was looking for recommendations for a restaurant that had good fish and chips. We went on a busy Friday night and the food wasn't good, it was FABULOUS!! The fish was light with a crispy batter. The coleslaw was AMAZING with a vinegar dressing instead of the usual soggy creamy coleslaw. The chips were cooked perfectly and filling. The menu has many different types of food without being overwhelming. Our server was very friendly and even though she was very busy she took the time to explain the procedure for paying our bill and helpful information about the serving sizes. She went out of the way to stop by the table to check if we needed anything and how the food was. This is our new go to restaurant for a good meal at a reasonable price. Thank you.

Just right near the Gas station makes it a good halt for those who are on a long drive and need a good refreshment.

We stopped here for lunch, on way back from a Kijiji purchase, and had an excellent experience. The food, prices and service were amazing. They even opened the patio area for us, as my youngest was nervous with Covid-19. We had Greek chicken dinner (classic, tasty and good Greek dressing and feta), a gyro, haddock fish and chips, and western. Fries were fresh cut. Would recommend for those who enjoy good home cookin'.

Great place! We had the halibut dinner with a Greek salad and it was sooo goood!! Their Greek salad was made to perfection and the fish and chips were even better!! If you’re passing through I would definitely suggest stopping by for a bite to eat. Added to my favourites list!

We have been going here for over 15 years. This is a small family run business. Nothing negative to say about this place. The owners came to learn our names and even preferences in our orders within a few visits. Honestly, we were so impressed and have over time became regulars but actually friends. Recommended dishes... their Greek salad is amazing! Fish and chips are going to come with a ton of chips! One of the overlooked items that are way too underrated is their Pizzas. Ok, who am I kidding? everything’s pretty good here... their breakfasts included!

One of the best mom and pop's Fish and Chips joints you can go. We often have to them to size down our portions. Very friendly atmosphere and the owners are really generous.

What a pearl of a place. Friendly and kind service and the food, especially the fish and chips, tastes absolutely fantastic. Honestly, it was the best I've ever had, and I lived in England for two years.

Get there late, right after blueberry picking, 30mins before closing. The food is great and prepared very well. The kids really like the food. We all really enjoyed the services and the food. Will definitely go again but will arrive earlier.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I got fish and chips and some other battered beasts, and let me tell ya - this was a perfect fish and chips. This is what cooks should be trained to make as fish and chips. Perfect in every respect. The crispiness of the batter, the melting fish inside, not an extra drop of unnecessary oil! I'd be going there every time i drive by. Dang, my mouth is watering now!

This restaurant is wonderful. It's owned by a husband and wife. They are very friendly and hospitable. The food is fresh and always comes to the table hot and fast. They are not shy with the coffee either. I love the fettuccine Alfredo and my husband loves the burgers because they are hand made. Check it out.

Lived in Newcastle for 20+years never tried it. Had their fish and chips for the first time last night. One of the best fish and chips I've ever had hands down. Will definitely be a returning customer. Quality and portion size was amazing!!!

Minola and Edmin are phenomenal people! The food is great! The fish is my favourite dish. We stop by to pick up lunch here all the time and we are always greeted with smiles. The food and service are out of this World!! The owners are very kind and humble people. Thanks for being the best!
