Had an excellent stay at Mayor de Migueloa. The room was eccentric and charming. Combination of great restaurant and great wines made the dining and wine tasting experience fantastic. Service of the staff was excellent and we got great help in making round trips in the Rijoa area.

The restaurant was wonderful. Dined in the small winery room. The wine and food were the best we had while staying in Spain. Met the owner, who is a local, but has a PhD and has lived overseas. He took over his father’s business as a passion project. He and everyone else were just so engaging and nice. You won’t regret coming for dinner and vino.

Intimate dining experience in a 16th century building. We sat in the middle of wine amphoras and it was very interesting. The food was delicious especially the tomato salad, bread and olive oil. Loved the grilled jumbo shrimp. This place is known for steaks!!!

We enjoyed a lot at this hotel. Rosemary and Javier are the great hosts who gave the highlights of our wine trip in Rioja. The food is amazing. This is the white asparagus season and we couldn't help to order twice. My friend lost her luggage at airport during the flight transit to Madrid. Luckily we had them who can speak in English fluently to help communicate with the airport to get back the luggage. Another surprise is the hosts arranged us having dinner at its winery (it is a birthday dinner : ) ). After the dinner, we were lucky enough to visit its underground winemaking facilities. We feel a warm welcome and comfortable to stay at this place. As it is a historical place sited at the old town, please be mindful to expect no elevator to reach the rooms. I will recommend this place if you visit Rioja.

We had a wonderful stay, delicious lunch, wine tour and tasting and exceptional service. Ruth and Rosemary were both very hospitable and professional. We hope to come back again! Best of all, they catered to our severe food allergies!

23-04-2022 we had a great dinner with some greatest wine. A fresh seabass dish for two persons with vegetables and roasted potatoes. The owner explained a lot about the building. There is also a television witch tells the story of the winemaking. A great place with great people 🤩😋 I would love to come back some day.

Superb hotel and restaurant. What a find. Reading some of these reviews astonished us and made us think how really sad some people are, pig ignorant and they really should stay at home. Whinging about the floors or the walk to the hotel. Unbelievable! It’s a 500 year old amazing building with great character, amazing food and wine. The owners have done a great job and anyone who likes to travel, see great sites, eat and drink great food and wine will find staying here a huge treat.

The Guttierez family is in the wine making business and they also run this hotel. While we were there Juan, one of the owner’s sons was managing the hotel. Juan made us feel extremely welcome and looked after all of our needs. He also made us laugh quite a lot. We enjoyed the free wine tasting and cheese plate in the cellar of the hotel and it was nice way to meet other guests. The food in the bar is also quite good. This is an excellent base for those who would like to go visiting some of the many bodegas in the region. Parking was not really a hassle. There are public parking lots outside of the city walls and everything is very short-walking distance because Laguardia is very compact town. This is a great place to stay in a very attractive and charming town.

My son and I had lunch here in October. The food, wine and service was excellent, what I want to tell you is that I lost my wallet here. After paying the bill, I left it on the table and walked out. In it was a debit card, credit card, my driver’s license and about 170 Euros. The next day I realized I didn’t have my wallet so I canceled the cards and wrote off the license and cash as a life lesson learned. A few days later, my bank emailed me that Javier at this restaurant had found my wallet and contacted the bank. My son, who speaks Spanish, arranged for my cards and license to be mailed back to me in Massachusetts. There was a problem with the cash as apparently it can’t be mailed internationally. To get around this issue the restaurant deposited the money into their account and did an online transfer to my son’s checking account.

I was happy just to get my license back. I never expected to see my money again and was thrilled to have it returned to me. The restaurant is great and beautiful, and you will surely enjoy anything you order, but you should also know that the owners and staff are honest and good people who go above and beyond what many businesses will do for customers who will probably never return (we live in the US.)

Thank you Javier and Mayor de Miguieloa.

My husband and I loved our stay in La Guardia and much of it due to the exceptional experience we had at this beautiful and historic hotel. So many extraordinary memories there, eating local asparagus and other exquisitely prepared dishes, and drinking cava recommended by one Xavier who is an owner and wine maker. The two brothers who run the hotel and Rosemarie at teception were charming, warm and worldly. The hotel was once owned by a prince and has old world decor that gives you an authentic feel of what it once was. Our room was small and included everything we needed. Thank you Xavier, Juan and Rosemarie - we will always remember June La Guardia.

Mayor de Migueloa is located in one of the most popular wine regions in Spain (if not the most popular). The name of the town is Laguardia, which used to be a defense post established in the 13th century. Laguardia provides a rich historical backdrop over looking Spanish wine country, which offers spectacular atmosphere and picturesque views.

My friend and I stayed at Mayor de Migueloa for a weekend and really enjoyed our stay. It's a family run business with charming decor through out the establishment. The old walls and rustic feel of the place takes you back in time, although the hotel is quite cozy, modern and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and we also noticed the owner works closely with the staff on a daily basis, which probably accounts for the attention to detail.
The restaurant was fantastic, and for any wine enthusiast, it's a perfect location to stay and travel in the region. Mayor wine is exceptional and I definitely took some home with me.

Whether you are from Spain or touring, its definitely worth the trip.
Overall, we loved this place and enjoyed our visit and highly recommend its charm, service and location!

I found this place by accident walking past. I was received by a very friendly family and staff who convinced me this was the right place to stay in Rioja. The receptionist Rose was lovely. Wow how lucky. Cant say enough everything about this place is very special and truly the place if you want to experience Rioja culture and history. The family brothers Javier and Juan are fantastic guys. My new friends in Rioja! You simply must stay here if coming to Rioja!

Medieval hotel. It has good mood. You can get peace. The restaurant has careful service. They check our conditions every 5min. And dry aged steak was perfect.

An excellent fusion of history and modern cuisine set in a beautiful historic city. Superior wine from the region's oldest bodega. Cozy rooms in a quiet city.

Amazing bodega, hotel and restaurant. They produce and harvest their own grapes to make an excellent rioja wine. Cozy and unique building from the 1600’s. The food is delicious. We ate the 40 days aged chuletón, tender and delicious. Highly recommended
