My daughter and I had a fabulous walk to Pont d’Espagne and then took the chair lift up to the lake. The €24 ticket price (for two) saved the €8 parking, and was well worth it.

The lake was a beautiful landscape to roam about in. But the icing on the cake was the walk/scramble back down the path - a truly memorable walk in the mountains!!

Fantastic walking and scenery and the waterfalls were stupendous as it had rained with thunderstorms the previous night.

Such a stunning place to visit. Far better than I expected. From the large parking area, it's a simple walk up to where the Ponr d'Espagne bridge spans the meeting points of the Gave de Marcadau and the Gave de Gauge.

There are multiple viewing points to take in the breathtaking torrents that tumble down two separate waterfalls from high above. Both waterfalls are different in appearance and you will probably watch mesmerized the lovely view.

Having seen the two main waterfalls, be sure not to miss the pathway that descends by the Hotellerie to a level below the Pont d'Espagne, where another smaller waterfall runs into the stream and good views of the bridge itself.

Well worth the trip up the valley on very windy roads to get here.

Perhaps the most beautiful site we’ve visited in the Pyrenees. Take the time to hike up to the Pont d’Espagne café. The waterfalls and canyon are impressive. We hiked up to the lake with our girls who are 6 and 9. It was a challenge but most of the hike is in the shade of the forest.

Amazing place, great views. There is a restaurant near the bridge, where you can have food &drinks.
The cable car to Gaube Lake was not working (April 7). So be ready for 1-1.5 hrs walk to the lake.

The place offers a number of routes of different degrees of difficulty, we took an easy route down hill, about 6 km:
take the first closed cable car + the second open cable car, from there continue to the lake for dipping your feet :) ... continue on a footpath (very rocky and uncomfortable for walking) Along the river back to the parking lot. Don't miss the waterfall which is right before the end of the footpath.
Costs per couple 22 euros for one-way cable cars + parking, if you don't take the cable car you only pay for parking 8 euros)

A beautiful bridge by the waterfall.
From here to Lake Gaube you have two options. Accessible by cable car or on foot.

A beautiful bridge facing a wonderful waterfall, easy to enjoy on the restaurant facing it. From the entrance, get a cable car, and then it's 10 minutes of scenic walk to the bridge, then another 15 minutes to the chairlift station to go the the Lake Gaube , which is an amazing destination on its own. Pont d'Espagne is quite kids-friendly, the walk is pretty easy on a designated path.

Practical information first. The car park is large and well organised, and the parking is free if you take the lifts to the top. Else it is between 7-10 euro for the day. There is a gondola which takes you to the bridge and an amazing waterfall with a restaurant. The walk to this part is quick and easy so perhaps the gondola is not needed. After that there is a chairlift to the top or a 1.5 hour walk. At the end of the chairlift it is a 15 minute easy walk to the lake. You can swim in the lake but it is very cold! Also available at the top is a restaurant but take some cash because there is not much service so sometimes cards do not work. There is a walk you can do halfway around the lake which takes about 25 minutes. It’s a pretty rocky walk. The lake is beautiful and the mountains that surround it are amazing. I recommend this visit to anyone.

Stunning natural beauty. The cable car doesn't operate for a few week in May so check before visiting if you're unable to walk all the way up. Would recommend visiting Cafe dEspagne where you can see the waterfalls and meet the native and very friendly dog that lives there.

Located a short walk from the parking lot the area has some wonderful waterfalls as well as a starting point for some longer hikes that we would have loved to have done but we didn't have the time.

Very nice waterfall with a trail of 350 m by foot. You can park the car for seven euros a day nearby. There is a cable car to go up the hills and ski, and there are bathrooms and also a trashcan on the entry cabin. And the place is very cold, lowest degrees 1° end December. Good hiking shoes it’s recommended if you want to go on the trails.

Great walk in Austumn this November. Good hike up to the lake. Bring a stick or a pole if needed as the ground can be very unlevel at times

A breath stealing 1hr hour adventure through the national parc of the Pyrénées and you are easily wowed by the panorama. Park at the entrance at a fee of 7 euros per day, you take 1 hour to go from the pond d'Espagne to lake gaube. Bring your food and drinks to picnic there. Careful, the roads up to the hiking starting point is curvy and steep. For those who are afraid of heights and such landscapes, I recommend you close your eyes and bear the pain because the experience up there is worth the pain. The hiking includes climbing 300m to reach the lake on a rocky and non-flat surfaces( real hiking trail) so be equipped for the expédition( hiking shoes, raincoat, water, food). The lake is accessible by chair lift at a cost of 15euros per adult. So I recommend forget the pain and Set out on a quest for the wonders of nature away from pollution.

Amazing place. Another pearl of nature to admire! Wort visiting it, if living in Lourdes etc. Parking for the day is 7 Euros, first 15 min free.
! You can take a funicular up to the lake Gaube, 10,5 Euros in 1 direction and 15 Euros in both - than you DON'T pay for the parking. It's worth doing if you don't want to be very tired because the way to the lake is more than 1 hour.
We parked at the Pont d'Espagne, went up to funicular, took it in 1 direction up to the lake and came back on feet. It took cerca 5 hours (with 30-40 min walking to the other bank of lake and 30-40 min lunch break in a lake cafe).

absolutely perfect day at Pont d'Espagne. Snow everywhere, lovely to walk around and to see everyone just doing their thing. casual, effortless, relaxed. The telecabin taking you from parking was open. 6 euro a person I believe and parking free with this ticket. The second telecabin wasn't operating and I am not sure why, so couldn't get to the lake. Pont d'Espagne is one of my best places to visit in summer as well as winter. it is magical

OMG. The colors of Lake Gauve is amazing. Takes an hour to hike up (not very even) or take the chair lift and walk the gravel path. Enjoy a light lunch at restaurant by lake. Almost no people in mid September despite the nice weather.
