If you use Google maps to get here then you will arrive at the Chorley Rd entrance, where there are a couple of lay-bys for parking.

It's quite a steep walk up the hill and despite the pylons and the houses and the pylons the place has a real ancient feel to it, almost eerie. It's very quiet with almost no sound of any wildlife, you almost want to whisper.

At the top of the hill things get a lot more greener and there are marked paths to explore.

Well worth a visit

A lovely open heathland with well-marked trails of different length/ability. Small parking spot next to Windmill pub.

A nice place to walk your dog, it just to get a walk. It's hilly, it's calm and relaxing.

Lovely place, nice and quiet unlike Cannock Chase which seems to have recently attracted the entire population of Staffordshire...

Delightful area of Staffordshire, much used by walkers and horse-riders. It's rich in wildlife and history and enjoys views across local countryside. Parking is restricted.

I'm always up here, hiking, taking photographs and walking the dogs.

The perimeter is about 32 minutes to walk all the round. Fantastic views!

A good place for dog walking with a forest and four different routes. Green is for short walks. Yellow for normal size walks. Red for people who want to have a long walk and have multiple free hours. You'll also see some blue signs which are part of a slightly shorter version of the green route and will take you directly from the bottom to by the middle car park.

I’m fortunate enough to live near this area out outstanding beauty. I recall many happy memories as a child over there. The common boasts beautiful views and is surrounded by lovely places to eat and drink such as The Windmill, The Redmoor and the Park Gate.

A lovely place for an early morning walk.
I have a heart condition so I walk here and choose the walk so it's not to strenuous on my heart. Good clean fresh air sets me up for the day.
My only criticism and that's not about the common it's about some of the people that go there. DONT THROW YOUR EMPTY DRINKS BOTTLES ON THE GROUND AND PICK UP YOUR DOGS MESS AND PUT IT IN THE BINS PROVIDED!!!

Lovely area to walk on open heathland. Beautiful views as it is high up. Plenty of free parking and you can finish with a drink or meal at the Windmill Pub over the road
