The Cathedral Shop

It was a delight to browse around this shop. It's spacious and brightly lit, and the merchandise, while not cheap, was of a higher quality than I've found in a lot of other gift shops I've visited. And there was so much to choose from: Harry Potter themed gifts, pictures, stationery, jewellery, toiletries and toys, as well as a large selection of books. Some beautiful local crafts including handmade pottery, and ornaments carved from wood sourced from the cathedral precincts. Bought a lovely calendar. You can pay with either cash or card. The lady who served me was both pleasant and helpful.

This shop is likely the tidiest, most well presented shop I've ever been in. Well stocked, well staffed, tidy, bright, it's a pleasure just walking through it. My partner (a Harry Potter nut) wanted to see some of the architecture that inspired the books, and stopped by the shop to pick up some figures of her favourite Potter movies. Reasonably priced, and an experience in itself. This shop is totally recommended.

I live in Sydney and have purchased from this shop twice now. Both transactions were seamless and straight forward even though we had to navigate time differences. The ladies went out of their way to make sure my purchases arrived in tact.

Good range of gifts and souvenirs. Good to know that profits from sales goes to help maintain this beautiful building.

Look carefully and you'll find some nice Durham souvenirs amongst the usual generic things.
