The City Rooms Durham

Me and a friend stayed here for a night while visiting Durham. Staff were lovely as soon as we arrived and made us feel very welcome. Our room was lovely, furnished nicely and over looked the street.
Staff said as we were residents we got a stamper card, which amounted to free drinks. Absolutely fantastic! We loved it and will definitely visit again ♥

Booked a single room for a solo trip to Durham, which was a good price. Arriving to check-in at the bar, the member of staff was friendly and gave me all the information I needed as she showed me to the room. The single room was cosy but comfortable with a nice decor. I appreciated the free toiletries and the sweet bowl which was a nice touch! The pub itself has a great atmosphere, not too noisy, and all the staff are great.
Overall an enjoyable stay.

My wife and I recently stayed here and genuinely we loved it. I honestly don’t think you can beat either the value or the location. Just fantastic!! The team were so friendly and the room itself was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Plus we loved the sweet bowl, very nice touch. We will 100% be back and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family. 5 stars all the way.

Stayed here last week, what a fantastic little hotel and bar, staff were amazing, granted there's no food but your in the middle of durham, plenty of places to eat, couldn't find any faults whatsoever, cleaning comfortable rooms, amazing drink prices, fantastic friendly staff.

Lovely apartments, great location. Very clean and loads of sauce in the room and bathroom! The sweets left in a jar were an extra nice touch too.

I looove it here!! The drinks are good prices and the vibe is quite nice. They have really yum cocktails !! Get the mojitos!

We had a lovely stay in the ‘penthouse suit’. The room was amazing, super clean and freshly refurbished. I would give 10 starts for value for money as we had bedroom with TV, bathroom, mini kitchen and lounge area. Location was perfect, less that a 5 minute walk from local amenities. Drinks were cheap, atmosphere was nice, and special shout-out to Gillian who was so welcoming and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay x

Very nice hotel i stayed here a while ago when i had a few problems with another accomodation and i was able to stay here for around 4-5 nights. The owner was super attentive and the girl's downstairs were lovely. Very clean and tidy, and you forget it's above a pub. Only sometimes the noise is not good until around 11pm but i didn't want too knock it down any stars for that. Thanks for looking after me

Had a lovely stay in this hotel,ALL of the staff were excellent, helpful and friendly and very welcoming. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Gillian for our lovely cocktails last night. This hotel is in a fantastic location and is very reasonably priced.
Only criticism, plumbing was a bit noisy, bot not a problem, ii will look forward to my next visit. Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable.

One of my memorable Moment which I would never forget .Her name is Joanne and she’s the owner of the hotel where me and my roommates stayed in and when I saw her at the first time . looking at her i felt that she reminds me of my mom and to be honest from the first day of our trip she was so caring ,loving and I got so attached to that women that now she’s close to heart Ngl and also she’s a hard working women and she did give us free drinks and also spend some good conversation with her. That created a bond between us and by leaving today i got so emotional that I gave her a hug and she gave me a kiss . By this I got to know wherever you go in any corner of the world ,people with caring nature still exist 🫶🏻 GOOD PEOPLE STILL EXISTS! Period !

We absolutely loved our stay at The City Hotel. The room was beautiful and spotless! The girls downstairs were so kind and welcoming, felt like home from home. We’ll defo be back!

Cosy little pub. Very friendly staff and perfect pints.

We didn't stay here but decided to have some lunch. We just happened to be walking past and it looked inviting.

Two meals for a tenner Monday - Friday. Bargain. I had the burger and it was lovely. The coleslaw on the side was very tasty. My partner had the steak and ale pie and he said it was the best he'd had in a long time. My 8 year old had the chicken nuggets - proper homemade nuggets with an especially tasty batter. For the 3 of us, with drinks, it cost £20.

The pub itself is cosy, modern and very tasteful. The staff were all really friendly and welcoming. The chef obviously knows his way around a kitchen. We'll be back. Can't wait to try the fish - table next to us had it and it looked incredible.

Lovely, clean and spacious penthouse, and at a fab price. Very welcoming; Gillian was especially friendly and knowledgeable. Great situation and only a couple of mins stroll to the centre of Durham. We will definitely be back!

We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed it. The room was well furnished, clean and quite big. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very helpful. The pub is quiet and a great place to enjoy a good pint (they have Trooper which is a great beer). Negatives? Well the shower was far too low, you would need to be about 4 foot to get under it comfortably! There is no parking, but i think you would struggle to find anywhere in Durham that has parking?

Had our lunch here, the lady who served us was really nice.
Had good portions, great choice & not overly priced.
Got to the dining area in my wheelchair, but couldn't get to the bar if I was by myself as no wheelchair access, had a step that I couldn't get down.
I'd definitely come again, (with the hubby) if we were in Durham again.

Lovely place to stay, very clean, modern decor, spacious room and the little touches made it even better. Very reasonably priced in a great location. Fabulous staff who couldn’t do enough for you. We will definitely be back to visit. Thank you 😀

The guys who served us were so lovely, they even popped a couple of sausages in for our dog which was such a nice thought. The atmosphere is lovely and chill and the food was amazing. Great portion sizes for the price. Will definitely be coming back here soon!

WOW ..... great transformation of the city rooms. The new owners have modernised and restyled the building. Great friendly atmosphere, I found the staff very helpful and having a mixologist behind the bar making fresh cocktails and at 2 tails for £7 is the best priced in the city centre. The food was delicious and well presented !
We had a superb nightout and next time we are going to book a room and stay over.

Great drinks and atmosphere. Reccomend it 100%!
