Fat Hippo Durham

Came in for burgers as this place was said to be better than tango. That was correct. The burger was juicy, everything seemed made in house, even the pickles, which was surprising for a chain. Have to mention the ranch dressing - this was some of the best ranch I've ever had and I'm American, I've had my fair share. Already looking for an opportunity to return.

Cosy, clean and welcoming, this characterful burger joint in pretty Durham served tasty and hot seasoned fries with juicy cheesy burgers. The Hot Honey chicken burger deliciously sweet n spicy. Ready to go straight back tomorrow.

This was the first time we have been here and it was amazing. One of the best burgers I have ever had, the family agreed too. We will definitely be returning. Great atmosphere and great food too.

The burgers are amazing and customizable. The interior of the restaurant is impressive and so are the toilets. We will definitely be back and recommend it

Love this place. Who can make a simple burger so, so good. Well the burgers aren’t so simple but there is food for everyone and the burgers are probably the best I’ve ever had. Been here multiple times and would highly recommend. Service is very efficient and polite. Again, love this place!

Went for my son’s 24th birthday and had a fabulous meal, high quality food, and a lovely birthday ice cream (it was Emmazing!) with a candle as requested when I made the booking. Definitely coming again when I have worked off the calories

got a little hippo burger and a butterbeer shake, absolutely love my burger!! every bite is so flavourful🤤🤤 love the milkshake as well, i really recommend it if you got a sweet tooth 🤭🤩

Went to Durham just to get to a taste of the best burger in town! We always make sure to drop by for a quick bite and Fat Hippo never disappoints. A quick shout out to our amazing girl Emma!

What an amazing place, the building full of charm, retaining much of its original features. The burger was succulent and juicy cooked to perfection and the free side of tater tots finished the meal off perfectly 🤤

Great lunch. Burgers are MASSIVE so the price really is a bargain. First floor is a bit slippy and on an incline so don’t be surprised if you feel a bit wobbly up there! Check it out - you’ll be glad you did. Oh, and try the Shakes!!

Great burger joint. Plenty of choice on the menu, with some fantastic combinations. Had the born slippy which was amazing.

Tasty and filling food, very good customer service and at decent price. I had hangover 3 and Parm something.£12.99 for burger with side and drink £2-3 depending on if you get it hot or cold. Would definitely come again, 100% Recommend.

Love, love, this place. Always a must when in Durham City centre. Even better, we landed on restaurant week two corses for £15 excellent value and service.

On the day of the Durham Christmas Market, we timed it just right to get a table here without a reservation. Others weren't so lucky! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The food came promptly and was really tasty and filling. A really good experience.

Very tasty vegan options! I went twice on a recent trip to Durham and got the Harlem Fake both times. I wanted to try more of the menu, but that sandwich was so good I had to get it a second time. Such a unique flavor combination, at least for a vegan sandwich.
