Simply in love with this 15th century building. Great location middle of high street. Service was great and staff was very friendly. Atmosphere was quiet, cool with good vibes.
Free WiFi, free breakfast, luxury & comfy room, nice drinks made this place outstanding. Oh there's pool table as well and some board games.

Wexhad meals here 2 nights running Very good food They were busy but didn't wait too long

Lovely old fashioned pub in the centre of Steyning. Good home cooked food, good beer, well looked after... snug with roaring fire.... loved it. Great pub, definitely returning soon

Banging roast. I mean, you just can't overstate how great the Sunday roast is! I had the three meat roast and my partner had the chicken. You won't leave hungry!

Proper Sussex pub, full of cosy nooks and crannies. Good selection of ale's too ☺🍺🍻🍺
Accommodation is very clean and topsy Turvey due to the vast age of the building.
Breakfast is really good too.

Emma and her team did an excellent job of catering for our large group of 9. The food was very good and the service was very friendly. Our dogs also had treats! We will be back.

Went there for lunch today . We had a lovely Brie, bacon and cranberry sauce sandwich and a sausage and red onion baguette both were delicious and served with home made chips

LOVED this wonderful pub we were lucky to find and stay at in Steyning. Newley taken over by landlords Emma and John who were the most welcoming hosts. Great atmosphere - 10/10 English breakfast! Traditional locals pub at the heart of the community - can’t wait to go back!

Went there was a family Sunday lunch on 27th October. Friendly helpful staff, good ales and a fantastic roast beef dinner, followed by homemade stick toffee pudding. The chef/landlady Charley came and asked for our feedback on the meal, which we were happy to give. We will be back again soon I'm sure.

Had an amazing evening at this wonderful local friendly pub. Enjoyed the range of beers and superb food and found the room to a very high standard and very clean. Thanks to the hosts we will be back that's for sure.

Had lunch here on a pre-booked table. Good menu, food and service absolutely *loddy excellent food!! Def recommend.

Walked in and was greeted with a very nice welcome
The staff were friendly and helpful and professional
The low ceilings and exposed beams added to the atmosphere the locals we spoke to were pleasant and amiable
We ordered 2 roasts that were cooked to perfection and very reasonably priced
Glad we visited and will be returning in the near future

The Chequer under new management provides an authentic pub experience with great food and friendly attentive staff. We were pleasantly surprised at the great traditional pub menu and warm ambiance offered.
