Cayley Embankment

Good place for a picnic. Nice view, despite promenade currently being under refurbishment that day.

The views from this embankment are wonderful, and the parking is free at the moment with plenty of benches to sit and take it all in.
Beware that the embankment will become one way once the promenade face-lift is completed.

My second review of the Cayley Embankment (August 2022).
With the costal defense work now well underway, the upper part of the Cayley has become an excellent viewing point of the works and of the changes being wrote on the brach. Now cordoned off the rest of the embankment is closed for safety reasons.

Nice place to stop and enjoy the views. On road parking and benches to sit on.

Beautiful walk on the promenade, plenty of places to eat & have drinks & ice cream with stunning views over the sea

Lovely little spot by the sea. We attended North Wales Dubberz meet up. Some nice little food stalls selling ice cream and hot food!!

Has a new beach, you can see the whole of the bay and the prom will be amazing when it's been refurbished.

There is something elegant about the Cayley Embankment. At the top of the rise are some of the most attractive and interesting homes of Colwyn Bay, including the Art Deco one built for Mr Colwyn himself. Spacious gardens and beautiful plantings provide a lovely backdrop to the grassy knoll, with its own attractive tree and planted areas along with numerous seating benches to sit, admire, and enjoy the fabulous Bay itself.

Footnote: Early 2022. Conway County Council have proposed plans to alter the roads and area around the Cayley Embankment.
They are proposing that the road at the bottom of the Embankment become one way from Rhos on Sea to Colwyn Bay and that the journey from Colwyn Bay back to Rhos on Sea should utilise the road at the top of the Embankment as a one way road back. This lovely, peaceful, elegant oasis is about to be devastated.
There is a lot of resistance and challenges to not only this, but other parts of the proposals too.

Update, June 2013. The refurbishment and restyling of the Cayley Prom are nearly complete and the top road of the Cayley Embankment has been the relief, road for all traffic throughout. I expect that when the bottom road is reopened, for one way traffic, we will all be relieved.
The new promenade is slowly being opened. Yippee!

Love Rhos on Sea, quiet and easy going. Free parking and toilets unlike 100 yards down the road in Colwyn Bay.

Best free parking in Rhos,,, bit sad😞 that the roadworks are so far behind schedule,, love visiting usually but such a shame the work is taking so long,,,

Lovely spot for a sandwich,ice cream or a coffee.Plenty of parking along the front.

Lovely views and a cracking walk once all the road works done will be excellent
