Steyning Bowl

Rolling chalk downland with expansive views over countryside and out to the sea. Sheep and cows in the fields add some life to the landscape.
From the very small roadside parking area, a well marked public footpath leads up the hill to the trig point. The climb is worth the effort - from here, Brighton and the white cliffs of Seaford Head are clearly visible to the east on a sunny day.

It's a lovely place. Great for family walks and the view is spectacular. On a good day one can spot the paragliders getting around there for flights! Also don't be surprised to see farm animals, they add special touch to the picturesque atmosphere of the place.

The road through Steyning Bowl is stunning and there are many places to stop and stare in awe at the views.

Natural feature of the Downland landscape here; a deep scoop taken out of the chalk hillside. Loved by hang glider people and model air enthusiasts it is a lovely spot to stop for a picnic or admire the view. Just off the South Downs Way walkers might miss it if they don't know it is here.

Such amazing walk,dog friendly, so lovely being outside in nature and natural sources,very quiet, lovely circular walk,sunset and saw deer in fields definitely worth visiting! We went a few times when we was in local areas Would definitely revisit.

The SDW trail is joined by the Monarch’s Way at Steyning Bowl, offering walkers a choice of path, both as scenic as each other. I continued to follow the SDW trail for a few more minutes before stopping for lunch.

Photos struggle to do the views justice; Steyning Bowl is a hill, an impressive amphitheatre with many sloping sides and an obvious dead-end, a natural cul-de-sac. To allow the weary walker (me) the chance to enjoy the vista, benches can be found facing the view. It doesn't take much imagination to picture the scene on a breezy summer’s day with paragliders taking to the air from the surrounding hills.

Breath takingly beautiful, especially on a clear day ....busy with walkers and cyclists but worth it .
