We had a lovely afternoon at Welsh Mountain Zoo on bank holiday Monday. All the staff were absolutely lovely! The lady doing the talks was brilliant, she was so personable and even humoured my one year old that kept running in and out saying “hello” and “bye bye” every few minutes. The two bird shows were fab! Seeing the penguins so close was amazing! (Make sure you’re at the top rope for the best experience), And the sea lion show was brilliant, you can tell the keepers have a genuine love and respect for the animals. Some of the enclosures are quite old school but exactly what you expect of a little zoo. Nice mix of animals! The alligators enclosure allowed you to get quite close which was amazing. It was extremely steep in places we had a pushchair and some of the hills were killers but it’s a mountain zoo so was to be expected. The views were incredible and the walk down from the tigers down to the sea eagles is so beautiful you could almost forget you’re in a zoo, it’s more like a botanical garden.

We had a FANTASTIC day out here! We aren’t from the area, and when we read reviews we’re quite cautious because of reviews saying it’s quite hilly - we have a double pram and it wasn’t an issue for us! It’s really accessible! You can clearly tell all the animals are really looked after, and there’s so many to see! From when we arrived the guy selling tickets was really friendly, the lady in the shop was just as friendly and helped move things out the way so our pram could get through - staff smile as you go past etc! Kids absolutely loved it here, if you’re looking for a good few hours out id definitely recommend the Welsh mountain zoo! Such a lovely walk around too, the views are amazing

This zoo is fantastic for younger ones, it’s relatively small but with lots to see. There isn’t the variety of animals that you get at Chester Zoo, but the ones that are there look well looked after. The scenery is beautiful with a view of the sea, the signage could be better as we had a pram and struggled to find paths without steps at times.

Fantastic place to visit. My wife and i brought our 3 year old son who was fascinated the moment we got there. Brilliant play areas also. The animals are amazing. We will certainly be visiting again. Even better that it was a weekday and not too busy.

The Welsh Mountain Zoo appears small on initial arrival. However it provides a full day of enjoyment. Situated a short distance into Colwyn Heights, the zoo provides free parking. Tickets are reasonably priced bearing in mind the conservation work the zoo is also involved in. You get to see so many animals from the snow Leopard to the Alligator. The Sea Lions are impressive and hopefully the pictures and short videos attached reflect this. There are children's play area, restaurant, cafe and gift shop. For those with young children in prams need to consider the area is steep to walk at times. Paths are good to walk on though. We'll worth a visit

So much fun, with the zoo being a smaller one you get an intimate experience with the animals. The penguin and seal show was very cool. Good food and fantastic park for the kids.... the view of the mountains is breathtaking.

Love it!! The staff was very nice and helpful. It’s very cozy. The layout is very easy to walk all around the zoo so you get to see everything. The car park was very big but if you didn’t got a car , you can get the taxi from colwyn train station (ask for Dales and Atlas)

Great place for young kids. They wore themselves out going up and down the hills and enjoyed a less crowded layout this zoo does really well. Nice views. Really add a special touch

Amazing amazing amazing! The views to all of the animals are so intimate. This zoo got plenty of comparisons to Chester zoo from other zoo-goers, and for good reason- where Chester zoo has the size, this zoo really places you into the animals enclosure. We must have been not more than 5m away from a pair of tigers and less than that away from an alligator.

We had a wonderful day at this lovely zoo . One of the highlights was the beautiful penguin parade - seeing these gorgeous birds running around was magical . The staff were amazing - very helpful and friendly . Many thanks to the guy at the Entrance desk ( I think his name was Luke )- he was particularly understanding and helpful with our family”s requirements . The animals all looked very well cared for :)

I was on my way to support Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch Football Club - give me an L, give me an L, give me an A.....etc - and I stopped off at the WMZ (not the White Mountain Zone in Arizona, that you're inevitably going to assume I am referencing). This was Wales, land of leeks, dragons, and my fathers (not mine, but I have eaten Welsh Rarebit so there is Welsh in me). Beautiful views and lots of birds and little monkeys running around. No dragons to be seen - do they hibernate?

Not the biggest zoo in the world but a lovely day out for family and children. Food is not expensive, parking inside the zoo makes it much easier to pop off to the car for that coat, bag of sweets etc without having to exit and enter. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. And it isn't expensive to go there, we love it there.

We had an amazing experience during our recent visit to Welsh Mountain Zoo. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The zoo is incredibly spacious and houses a wide variety of animals, allowing you to get up close to most of them, even being able to touch some. It's a perfect place for a leisurely walk, especially when accompanied by kids.

The zoo not only offers a fantastic animal viewing experience but also provides additional amenities such as a cafeteria and a play area with swings for the children. The kids had a blast playing there! The only disappointment was that we couldn't catch the tigers in action as both of them were fast asleep. Nonetheless, seeing the majestic pairs of tigers was still a beautiful sight, even if they were asleep.

Without a doubt, Welsh Mountain Zoo is worth every penny spent. Compared to other zoos in the country, it stands out as a top-notch destination. Our family purchased a family ticket, which turned out to be slightly more cost-effective, and it definitely enhanced the overall value of our visit. If you're looking for a place that both kids and adults will love, this zoo is a must-visit.
