Shire Horse

We were here for the first time for the Valentine's menu. The food was excellent and the environment inside the restaurant very pleasant. We will definitely come back here.

Large Chef and Brewer country pub on the outskirts of Maidenhead. The Shire horse is a good location for pub food, with a nice atmosphere and excellent service in my experience. This pub has a large car park and is easily accessible by car.

We visited The Shire horse for the first time today. It was outstanding. The food was great, fairly priced and the service impeccable. Immie served us and she was great, attentive and gave us extra time when we were being indecisive. The team were really welcoming, friendly and the atmosphere was great. Love seeing a dog friendly pub too. The decor was lovely, felt really homely and is a 'proper' country pubs with beams and big fireplaces. Can't wait to return!

Absolutely cracking dinner just now, superb food (well done chef) sausage & mash & Glazed Pork Belly with mash, everything was piping hot & served beautifully. (Sorry forgot to take a photo) and boy did it taste amazing !
We had Salted Caramel Sundae & warm Bakewell Tart & Custard for pud.

Brilliant, friendly, kind waiter & waitress (wait persons) we were served quickly and efficiently. 10/10 to both Connor & the young lady that took our order & served us. They were both so busy I have no idea how many steps they do each day but it must be amazingly high.

Great efficient bar staff to, they were busy all the time we were there, they never stopped. The pub is so clean and tastefully decorated and the tables & chairs are so clean & spotless and aren’t sticky, which is very important to me personally….
We will definitely return soon. It’s a lovely, warm, friendly pub which really gives it the wow factor.

Absolutely amazing. My family and I visited for New Years Eve and we were served by Connor.

The atmosphere here is outstanding, this is our first time visiting and we felt so welcomed as a family and comfortable throughout our dinner. I have never been somewhere with customer satisfaction as good as this.

Everything was perfect, the service, food, cleanliness and even the little added touches to our table to celebrate the new year which was so lovely and thoughtful.

You can clearly see how well the service is run and how well the team work together. Will definitely be returning and can’t wait to visit again in the near future.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Shire Horse, and it was an absolute delight. Aaron, our server, deserves special recognition for his outstanding service. He was attentive, personable, and injected just the right amount of humor into the experience. The meal itself was amazing, but Aaron's service truly made it unforgettable. Food - we both had roast turkey and sides of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. The food was honestly one of the best roasts. Very tasty. Hot and fresh veg. My only criticism and it’s a personal one is that I like my parsnips better done

But honestly you won’t be disappointed. See you next week

Had a Xmas dinner with friends last night. There were 10 of us and we were served by lovely Immie. She served us with a constant smile and Christmas spirit.
Food was generous and tasty. Service with a smile and the atmosphere was good. Very busy so we had a slow service with the drinks but understandable. The cheesecake was delicious and light. We were stuffed and satisfied.
All in all a lovely evening.

Beautiful menu, incredible food, stunning pub and excellent service (thank you Madison!). Also amazing value for money - five of us had three courses plus drinks for an absurdly low bill. Thanks for a lovely way to end our latest trip home from 🇨🇦!

Food is amazing! My mum loves the old house environment and the beams! Service is also outstanding but takes some time for the food to arrive, but the day we went was extra busy, so that might explain it.

Very polite and friendly staff. A nice atmosphere, classic pub experience, but with a modern twist. The portions were a little small, but they were well priced and delicious. Everything was clearly freshly cooked and came out piping hot. I'll definitely be returning here! 😃😃

We had a post team Christmas work do today. Jay and his team were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble, even when we needed to make a few last minute meal changes. The team made us all feel so welcome. Everything was perfect, and timely, not rushed. The food was delicious, we will definitely be back - thank you Jay and team for such a lovely evening - from all at The Pines

My steak was cooked beautifully, and it was delicious. My friend was very cheeky and asked if they could do her something from the lunch menu (we were having dinner). They were more than happy to do it for her. Great service from Connor, who was very helpful from the second we walked in. We're looking forward to visiting again.

The Shire Horse is friendly, welcoming and an all round brilliant pub. Jay, Connor and Mel always look after us and the food is brilliant. Indoor and outdoor dining, you couldn’t ask for much more!

We had another lovely Sunday lunch at the Shire Horse, meeting up with family. It’s pretty much in the middle of us all geographically so a great option with a large car park which makes meeting there easy. Always welcomed with a smile and the food, service and value for money is very good, all in a lovely pub setting. Looking forward to a summer lunch in the garden! Thank you.

The food was good, the staff on a 1 to 1 basis were great, however, service was slow as the whole operation was so overstretched. It is a real tick in the box it is so popular, but maybe book a couple less, and turn away a couple to prevent the overwhelming pressure put on the staff and kitchen.
However, and, do not think in anyway it was not a very good restaurant and experience.

Came here on a visit to see Windsor Castle and Legoland with our two young children, staying in Maidenhead. Great pub with very nice food, good service and pleasant atmosphere. Could use Chef and Brewer Tesco Club card vouchers which was also a bonus. Staff were very helpful making sure we used right amount!

Me and my mate wanted to go somewhere nice for food and a drink never been to the shire horse before but had the best evening to date food was exceptional service was top quality very friendly and inviting was very busy but didn't have to wait long for our order to be taken went outside for a cigarette and someone even came out to let us know our food was about to be brought out which I find most places wouldn't they would just leave on the table to go cold overall good quality food amazing friendly staff nothing was an issue always at your service they definitely aim to please would recommend to everyone and definitely be returning very soon even if just for drinks
