A lovely little pub in Kendal, we ducked in to get out of the rain and enjoyed a fantastic meal with great service. We will definitely be back the next time we visit the Lakes!

I am a professional musician and I work with megastars. My wife and I were in Kendal to see and meet world class international concert pianist and genius, Isata Kanneh-Mason, the eldest sibling of the most talented family in the world. We had a fantastic Sunday lunch at The Shakespeare. The food, the staff and the venue are perfect and we really appreciate being made so welcome and having such a lovely Sunday lunchtime at this Inn. We highly recommend The Shakespeare Inn. Bravo to the chef as well, our food was gorgeous.

Have had a fantastic experiences at the Shakespeare Inn. We booked for 15 people, which included various dietary requirements and allergies, and they were so accommodating. I have been so impressed with there communication.
The Shakespeare has a friendly atmosphere, everyone was welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent, not a single person had a bad word to say. Everyone was stuffed and we had to roll home.
Would highly recommend!!!

For my 80th birthday my family arranged a surprise weekend away in Kendal at the Shakespeare Inn which was idyllic. We had a fantastic time and I thank the management and staff for taking good care of us. I highly recommend it.

Great service and lovely food. We walked in as a party of 7 and it was no trouble at all. One member of staff on shift but he saw to us all without a single complaint 🙏. Would definitely recommend a visit

Nice little bar. Reasonable price. Good atmosphere. Very busy little bar as it was Kendal music festival. We had our drinks listening to a great sax and keyboard duo. Loved the atmosphere and felt comfortable.

New owners just took over, so pub and dinner not available during our stay. Lots of other options nearby for those.
Otherwise, a nice quiet room at the back with safe off-street parking. Clean. Spacious. Would return.

"Stout wars" visit. Superb pint of Titanic plum porter. Had this many times. This however is perfectly conditioned. Great staff knowledge for real ales which I feel is important to. Many thanks.

Pub restaurant based in the centre of Kendal doesn’t look much from the entrance but inside it’s a very clean and tidy pub. Staff were friendly and food was great. I ate the southern fried chicken burger which was different and adding the sweet dip to it made it so much better. Family all enjoyed the drinks and food they had too.

As soon as we walked in we received a warm welcome from the bar lady. She was friendly and personable which you don't often get.
Had soup and warmed bread which was perfect on a cold December Saturday with snow outside. Young waitress was polite and sweet. Manager also made us feel welcome and so glad we visited the pub. Will definitely go back.
Good value for money and a relaxed friendly atmosphere 😁

Stopped in for a meal. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Pub was clean and homely, dog friendly and had football on the TV for the other half. Food was amazing. Vegan curry was delicious. Will visit again when we are in the area.

Our second visit and it won't be our last! Lovely clean rooms with comfortable beds. Everything you need for a peaceful stay. Perfect! The food is outstanding and the wild mushroom risotto was amazing. All the staff we met during our stay were super friendly, knowledgeable and polite. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone smiled and made you feel valued and so welcome. Abbie was awesome and a total credit to The Shakespeare Inn and is a shining example of excellent customer service. Thank you for a lovely stay. Liz and Terry

I was here for just one evening to explore the rich history of the area. I loved it. I was looking for a nice room with a bed and clean bathroom, and this was a great location. The breakfast was included and ranged from a continental to full breakfast. Although check out was at 11am and because I had ruins to explore, they stored my luggage until my late afternoon train. I really enjoyed my stay and highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely staff, room was warm and cosy, really comfy bed. Lots of items available on the breakfast menu. The entrance might be a challenge if you have a large 4x4 or people carrier but parking is available near-by. Brewery arts centre within easy reach.

Nice pub with character, good food and nice rooms. All the staff were so helpful and freindly and made us feel very welcome.

We spent the night here and had a nice evening meal and drinks. Rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. We were welcolmed in the morning with a good breakfast which set us up for the day ahead. We would definitely visit again.
