A really small proper pub. It's so small you have to speak with everybody. Great beer and chatty locals. Every time I come to Bury, I have to have a beer in here. There is a small room upstairs as well.

Fun little pub. Not much space inside but there is an upstairs too. Place is covered in notes from different counties, could spend an hour or so reading through them. Everyone was friendly, every time I’ve gone in you usually find one or two Americans at least. Worth a visit!

A book ‘You never know about England’ has led me to book a coach tour from Sittingbourne to Bury St.Edmund. Then I google ‘What to do and see’, The Nutshell Pub is one of my interest as I am very into Ales & Old Architecture like Lilliput Lane. It was the most exciting thing on that trip. I had chance to drink the local Ales - Abbot that has been nominated the best ales in 2023. Such a lovely atmosphere where everything is so small. You have the chance to talk to locals and Such a friendly lad I sat besides for a short moment… This smallest pub in England is such a worthy place to visit⭐ I wish I can stay longer…but the coach soon left…

A quirky little hole in the wall with character. What it lacks in space and diversity of merchandise, makes up in ambiance and quirkiness.
The pub is a local celebrity and a magnet of the locals and the American contingent.
Prices are about average, space is at a premium and the beer is exclusively from the British GK, who is historically been based in Bury St Edmunds since its founding in the late 1700s.

Quaint little pub with a unique interior. Had a lovely pint of cider and actually found a seat to use, genuinely will use again when I visit Bury St Edmunds. Why oh why can't other pubs replicate this atmosphere.

We met up with friends and thought we'd have a drink in the Nutshell that was until 2016 the smallest pub in Britain. We loved it so much, we stayed till closing 😘 we met loads of great people in there, most visiting like us.

Perfect place.
So many things to look at.
Great drinks on offer.
Mulled cider was the highlight, warmed up nicely.
Polite staff member and a good cat.

Has an atmosphere absent in many pubs today, a necessary call-in on a visit to BSE!
Abbot Ale and IPA Bitter on as hand pulls

Said to be the smallest pub in the UK so we had to take a look. Unfortunately, we are arrived into town early in the morning and needed to return our rental car. We peeked through the window and it looks to be around 15’x7’ with no tables and only a bench around the curved windows. Opens at noon. We will try to visit it when they are open next trip.

It's got a lot of character in a little space. No food, just tasty beverages that the bartender has to bring out to you in the seating area outside. Loved it!

A super friendly pub that you really need to make the effort to visit. Great beer and amazing atmosphere. If I lived nearer I would be there all the time.

Like many others we went to this pub so that we could say that we have been to the smallest pub in Britain. Bit of a tourist attraction but the Abbot Ale on a
Cask went down well. Top tip - grab a cheese, leek and bacon Cornish pastie from the local bakery and enjoy with a pint in the courtyard.

The UKs smallest pub.

Not sure what I can add that hasn’t already been said.

I visited the pub recently after living in the area for some 20 years!

It has a lot of character and the barman was very knowledgeable and happy to discuss the history of the pub and answer the many questions I had!

Some things to look out for include a mummified cat and rat!!

If you’re in Bury St Edmunds then you have to pop in here!

Awesome "little" pub with lots of quirky things to catch your eye, also a decent selection on the pumps considering the size of the place. Locals were also friendly and happy to chat.

Perfect pub, friendly staff. Credit card can only be used for purchases over £10, so bring cash or order over £10 each time.
