The Galleon Steak House

One of the best steakhouses I've been to. An upmarket feel, with excellent food to match.

Food - Fantastic food, easily the best steak around. We had various other sides which were equally as good. Desserts are tasty and excellently presented.

Service - Generally good, only knocked one star on service, as I've experienced friendlier staff who have gone the extra step to make you feel welcome - that being said service is still great and attentive.

Atmosphere - It's a nice upmarket atmosphere without making you feel out of place.

Would recommend and return.

Service was slow, having been recommended to the venue we were disappointed with the food, maybe down to the way we were expecting the food after the recommendation, the gravy could have been thicker and the mash was cold, the venue was clean and the staff friendly,

A lovely place to eat beautiful food, great service and a beautiful cooked 16oz sirloin steak with red wine gravy 😋 I definitely recommend eating here as the food was top draw! Great service from James and a nice stay above the restaurant a lovely weekend in Chesterfield

Good menu. Good staff. Good atmosphere. Would definitely go back.
Only comment was that the staff were a little difficult to get hold of if you needed something.

The food is 5 stars so the review has to be 5 stars, althouh I was initially charged £5 extra for a drink that I didn’t order.
That’s why the service is only rated with three stars.
But the cooks and the food deserve the five stars.
What a nice surprise at a deserted Chesterfield on an august monday!

We visited The Galleon Steak House for my mums birthday as a party of 5.

The waiter who served us was brilliant, really accommodating when we were waiting for the 5th member of our party to arrive and especially when my mum accidentally turned off their computer/music!

The food was brilliant, really tasty and fresh! There is plenty of choice on the menu too and also plenty of drink options. We each order slightly differing levels of "doneness," and everyone was happy with how they arrived.

All in all we had an absolutely lovely night, plenty of good food and brilliant service, we would definitely come here again!

I booked a two night stay in one of the four double rooms above the steak house restaurant our first night we ate in the restaurant and the food and service was faultless friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and well presented the ensuite was spotless modern and spacious,
The location was ideal for walking into town it's literally across the road overall experience definitely 10/10.

Probably one of the best meals we have had. Was date night for us as everything was amazing, great company, great food, great wine and the staff we very attentive and helpful. Will definitely be making a return visit and would recommend to anyone looking for a great evening out

Wow now THIS is the place to go for a Sunday lunch, complete atmosphere as soon as you walk in, the staff are impeccable and the food?! The food is for the foodies out there, flavour town! WHAT a roast that was! ❤

Great friendly and efficient service, the meal portions are great, the steaks we ordered were done to perfection with a great choice of sides and sauces. Puddings were all amazing! the choice of drinks was good and the overall bill was average. Only other recommendation i could think of was more vegetarian/vegan options ( there are two) so that it makes it easier for families to come and return. Thanks again we will be back :)

We booked the Galleon for a club night out. 13 people all came away having had an excellent night.. super tasty food, delivered promptly.. a very well organised night and courteous staff who didn't intrude on our conversation.. can't thank you enough.

I was really impressed by this restaurant as I'm not a local and hadn't been there before - you never know what the foods quite going to be like or their outside dining area 😕 but it was lovely! One of the most enclosed/ outside spaces I've been in ha, great canopy over your tables with the offer of what looked like very comfortable blankets of you were cold! I only had a starter as wasn't that hungry at the time, salmon and king prawn pasta dish which for a starter, was huge! (Which was actually gladly welcomed lol) my friend had a monster Sunday lunch which was devoured nearly as quickly as it arrived! His deep fried brie also looked 🤤 and the staff were so, so pleasant! Even letting me come back in to quickly use their bathroom en route back to my apartment... Definitely would go back and try their other dishes - everything that came out of the kitchen to other tables, looked and smelled delish! 😍

Went to the galleon last night for food with some family members. It’s was absolutely outstanding from arriving to leaving the staff couldn’t do enough for us made to feel very welcome. The food was out of this world cooked to perfection the Stilton and onion garlic bread is definitely one to be tried absolutely amazing. Keep up the good work 😊 we will be back

Went for lunch today with my daughter. This was my first visit and it definitely won’t be my last. I had the pork Sunday dinner and my daughter had the hanging fillet steak skewer and both were cooked to perfection and delicious. I had the sticky toffee pudding after and it was by far the nicest I’ve ever had. Prices were reasonable and all the staff were attentive and friendly. What more can you ask for. I highly recommend a visit here.

Fantastic food & all round experience eating & sleeping at the Galleon. Proper local family business, deserves to succeed.

Steak ordered medium rare. Cooked to perfection. Atmosphere not great as it wasn't busy but it was Sunday teatime and we chose that tone because if our young children. The waiter was very child friendly and entertained our children.
