The room was old-fashioned but comfortable, and absolutely what you'd expect for the very reasonable price, including a bumper choice of breakfast! Staff are really friendly and the location in Hope Valley is beautiful. Would definitely return and stay here again.

The room was spacious, comfortable and spotless!
All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were unfortunate enough to be there in high winds, the hotel lost all power but we were served drinks and sandwiches, which were delicious. We were all very well cared for and ended up having a laugh.
You couldn't choose a better location!!
Breakfast was divine, served in a beautiful room.
We'd definitely return. Thank you!

Stopped in for dinner on a weeknight and was glad we booked ahead. The food was great - I had a pizza and the mushroom starter. Both were delicious and is definitely recommend the mushrooms! We also weren't rushed out despite them being busy while we waited out of the rain for the bus time (much appreciated)!

Ordered the BBQ Chicken and it was delicious. The overall atmosphere was great along with staff being incredibly friendly! Only complaint I had was that the WiFi didn't work, though this wasn't too much of a problem and doesn't have any impact on my 5 star rating.

On NYD we arrived with no booking, luckily they had space for us by the fire. Very friendly with a warm welcome, we didn’t have to wait long for them to tend to us. Lots to choose from for food, generous portions. Great selection of ales/beer both keg and cask. Very dog friendly too, interior is great we could’ve stayed for ages!

The food and service in the nags head is excellent. This is a lovely place for a drink in the afternoon and is also an excellent resteraunt. Booking is essential. The food is high quality and plentiful with a brilliant choice of menu. The desserts are large and high quality. This is the best place to eat in Castleton and if you are here for a break this is the one you pick for your main night. Don't go if you are not hungry.

We stopped in here while exploring the area and are so glad we did. This is such an amazing place with so much character. Hands down the best pub food we’ve had in the UK with a great selection of beers and good wines too. Highly recommend!

One of the best Sunday lunches I've had for a while. My partner had a pizza which was also tasty. Friendly staff too, we'll definitely be back when we're next in the area.

Had dinner here after walking up Mam Tor. Food was good hearty and very tasty and service friendly! I loved that the sausage and mash, as was made to your choice with 4 types of sausage, 4 types of mash and 4 gravys. And if hungry could be served in a dustbin lid Yorkshire pudding. I had venison and mustard sausages, cheese and onion mash with onion gravey in the Yorkshire pudding - just right after an afternoons hiking.
Highly recommended

Checked in,on 15th november for a one night stay with my wife, the room we were booked in for,had a small bathroom shower issue, when we spoke too the manager,he was very quick too move us too another room, great service!!!, our room was very nice, and came with a free bottle of wine,2 types of bottled water, and a selection of hot drinks, and biscuits, toiletries in the bathroom, was also a nice touch.
Breakfast was AMAZING!!!!!, cereal, yoghurts, juices, and jams, set us on our way, the derbyshire breakfast, was huge,3 bacon,2 sausages, beans, tomato, hash brown, fried egg, and a side of toast, all cooked too perfection, and washed down with a pot of tea, good for 2 full cups, it really set us up for the day ahead. I have stayed at this hotel before, but this visit was the best yet, a great manager, and a great team around him. I will stay again for sure, please give it a go too,you will love it.

Popped in here for some lunch; I had the goats cheese sandwich and my husband had a burger. Both were really tasty and the burger was huge! A little wait, maybe 30 mins, but understandable as the place was so busy.

Service at the bar was quick, staff were really efficient and courteous despite being rushed off their feet! Beers are obviously kept well, I had a couple of halves with lunch and both were very tasty.

The pub had a cosy atmosphere, with the slate floors and huge fireplace; we will certainly return in the cooler months to really appreciate that fireplace!

We didn't stay here but had two evening meals and a breakfast here as they are dog friendly and our hotel had no catering in the morning. The food was excellent, good choice, nicely cooked and presented and the service was excellent! Highly recommend.

Great food. The portions are huge. All my chips were hiding around the back of my fish finger sandwich. Lovely service too, would definitely return!

Had food in here on a Friday evening. My wife and I both had a starter and main which were absolutely fantastic. We booked for the next night
I overheard other diners and they were all raving about the food so it's thoroughly recommended.

Great beer choice as well. My one recommendation would be to book a table downstairs, there are a small number upstairs but it looked a bit lonely and felt a bit cooler up there, but that may be what you want!
