Green Gables Guest House

Wonderful stay. Started and ended our UK trip at the Green Gables Inn. Stayed in Room 5, which was quiet. Above all, we loved the hospitality of the owners who were honest, genuine, and very personable. Gillian (red hair) made the best full English breakfast we had during our stay. She and Mandy (?) were very welcoming, and I wish we could have visited with them longer.

Had a lovely stay here for just one night. Room was very comfortable, clean and very nicely presented. Owners were very welcoming. And the full English breakfast prepared by the friendly and entertaining staff 😊 was great. Highly recommended if you’re looking for value for money. I left with a smile on my face.

Stayed here for 4 nights. The stay and experience surpassed all expectations! We stayed in the family room with a bathroom only for our use located opposite the room (which was not an issue at all). We had a delicious full (vegetarian) breakfast each morning that was accompanied with friendly conversations with the hosts, who made a clear effort to entertain and attend to all of their guests. I did say I would give a special shout out to the "lovely ginger Northern Irish lass", aka Gilly, who was a barrel of laughs and made the most perfect fried eggs every morning! On top of all of this, there was an extra and unexpected surprise for each room on Valentine's day, with a gift of chocolates, drinks and candles. I honestly could not recommend this place enough. Thank you so much for a delightful stay.

We only stayed for one night, but wished we could have stayed for more. The owners were super friendly and great hosts. The family room was well appointed and very comfortable. In the morning we had a lovely Full English breakfast and the staff were cheerful, helpful, and even entertaining 😀
They really did put a smile on our faces as we left. True, British hospitality at it's best!

The location is fantastic pretty much all parts of LD are very accessible within 20 mins drive. Right in the middle of Windermere town so everything is a convenient walk away!

Will definitely stay here again!

We arrived late into Windermere and stayed at the Green Gables where the hosts thankfully agreed to stay up late for us to let us in. Small but really clean rooms, lovely full English breakfast (also lots of veggie options available hehe) and super friendly hosts. Thanks so much for a lovely stay!

It was a cosy room, clean and hygienic. My kid loved it. And breakfast was interesting too especially the waffles. Made veg cheese sandwich on demand too as we are vegetarian which was a lovely gesture. Staff was too friendly and polite, loved meeting them all. Also kept our luggage on the checkout day for whole day. We could also keep stroller on the ground floor as we lived upstairs. Bus stop was just a lane away. And bowness was also walkable distance. Only thing we couldn't figure out was how to switch on heating and towel rail. Though our towel was changed the other day. Overall a nice place and lovely stay kid friendly. Thanks

Run by a nice couple, very welcoming. My room was on the ground floor with a widow facing the main road yet I had a very peaceful night sleep. There is no parking provided by the B&B but there is on-street parking if you can get it and there is a pay & display car park opposite, it cost me about £8 to park for the night in there. Breakfast was generous and tasty even though served by shouty staff, not offensive though. Of you want a place to stay in Windermere I recommend Green Gables.

An excellent place to stay. The hosts are lovely and made me feel right at home. The breakfast was perfect to start our adventures in the lake district. Rooms are clean and the bathrooms are modern. I hope to be back again.

We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The bed was super comfy and the bedroom and bathroom/shower room was immaculate. We had a fantastic fully cooked. Real fast the next morning that really set us up for the day! We will definitely visit again when we come back to Windermere!

Amazing stay! Very close to the train station and all the restaurants and shops. We were unfortunately only in Windermere for a day but our stay here was lovely! The beds were comfortable and clean. Ours was a bigger room so our bathroom had to be across the hall but it was reserved only for our room which we had key-access to. The breakfast that was included was incredibly delicious in a beautiful dining room. The owners and staff were so kind and really made our stay as comfortable as possible.

What can I say, excellent stay at this lovely little guest house. The staff are absolutely incredible, so friendly and eager to please. Breakfast was beautiful, our little boys devoured everything. The staff were fantastic with us all really child friendly . We will be back thats for sure! Thanks again to you all xxx

A good old fashioned bed and breakfast. Cosy and comfortable in a lovely old house. Really friendly and helpful hosts.

Really friendly and extremely helpful owners and staff. Our family room was great and the beds were very comfortable. Full cooked breakfast in the mornings and the staff could not do enough for you. I would recommend this guest house to anyone whose thinking of going to the Lake district. A great guest house too, as it's walking distance to Windermere shops, restaurants and bars and public transport. A great find, will hope to visit again.

I stayed here for a short break.
The room was lovely, the ladies at breakfast are amazing and always checking on you and chatting. I highly recommend the homemade yoghurt it's the best.
25 minutes walk to the bowness pier
3 minutes walk to a town centre with lots of food options.

Me and my lovely wife had nearly a week here and it was the best week ever.Lovely guest house and the hosts were simply the best they were always there for you and very funny,the room was lovely and very clean and breakfast was superb with lots to choose from.Was Pleasure to stay here and we will certainly come back.

Would highly recommend this gem of a place. Clean, child friendly, great location. There’s a car park just across the guest house . The staff were fabulous, friendly and made our stay so comfy. My kids loved the homely feel. Would definitely come back again.
