A birthday treat, arranged by son and his girlfriend. What a gem, love the menu, variation, service impeccable with a personal note of thanks for Holly (we were the group arranged by Nicole & Lewis), thank you indeed. Great menu, especially as I’m coeliac and great options and changes they’ll provide. So cannot recommend this restaurant enough, definitely coming back and if you haven’t been, when you get the chance go. I hope you won’t be disappointed, we weren’t.

This is easily the nicest place we've eaten in a long while, with reasonably priced food - given the current state of shrink flatiron!

The quality of ingredients shows and the portions are good value. Staff are all super friendly and helpful, great atmosphere (we loved the playlist) and even better... Dogs are welcome! 😊 We'll definitely be back... With the dogs!

Highly recommend the Wild Sea Trout and Prawn Fishcakes, Korean Wings and Beef & Ale Pie. But to be honest, everything we had was sublime!

Cannot recommend enough!

Amazing food - every dish was exceptional! Johnny was the chef! Staff were fabulous, decor amazing. Couldn’t ask for more. We had 5 plates between the 2 of us, plus some nibbles. Had I known I was going to love it so much I would have taken photos to share! Well worth a visit if you fancy something different

Exceptional staff, exceptionally intuitive service, super atmosphere whether you’re inside or out, and the most exceptional food. It is intuitive, culturally sensitive, mindblowingly developed and a taste sensation with every dish and every mouthful that surprises and delights every time. We keep coming back and it never disappoints. A true gem not to be missed. Fact.

Words cannot describe how fantastic this pub is.

The food, the drinks, and the feeling of near total ecstasy when experiencing the joy of their wines paired with the small plates from the sea, the field, and the farm.

Best place in Woodstock.
No, best place in England.

We had a fantastic evening outing here. The service and food were faultless. The food is tapas style and we had everything to share. The Korean chicken was a particular highlight. The chicken was crunchy with a nice amount of heat. The blue cheese dip accompanied well. We also had the gnocchi, pork belly, Vietnamese rolls, squid as well as the triple cooked chips. The food came out nicely spaced, and we still had room for a dessert each - white chocolate cheesecake and creme brulee. All of the food was perfectly cooked, very flavorful and simply delicious. The atmosphere in the dining room was excellent as well. The restaurant was busy, but by no means full. We booked in advance. Highly recommended if in the area

With out a doubt the best food in Woodstock and the surrounding area. We have visited many times and will continue to as the menu is always changing and exciting. Very knowledgeable staff and always very accommodating. Would recommend to anyone visiting or local.

The food is delicious and beautifully presented, but they’re not lying when they say “small plates” 😅 so keep that in mind if you’re hungry. Ceviche a highlight. Service excellent, and the venue is great. Easy on street parking and dogs allowed 🐾

Fantastic lunch here. Food was great. The 'fish and chips' was amazing. It's not cheap but everything was really nice. You can take dogs and there is outside seating which is also a bonus.

Wonderful local pub in central Woodstock with exquisite food and atmosphere. Whether eating in the fantastic restaurant or sitting in the beer garden with a cold rosé the Back Lane is always lively and authentic. Loved the international small plates and the great selection of wines and cocktails - taking some visiting American friends there next week to experience a unique English pub/tavern first hand, I am sure they will love it as much as I do. Shout out to all the hard working staff who are incredibly passionate and welcoming, especially Jen, Holly, Izzy, Liv, Bea and Tilly!

What a gem of a place! Booked for a BH weekend Saturday lunch as a treat after a walk around the Blenheim Palace. We got there a little early when it was very quiet but it soon started to fill in with all guests wanting to sit outside in the lovely courtyard. Staff were so lovely and accommodating, little plates of food looked almost too pretty to eat, they were also tasty and with some surprising flavours. This place is also dog friendly - seems both staff and guests are on the same page here, so our pups got all the attention they wanted, too! Will be returning and introducing more friends and family soon :)

Excellent eatery with a modern vibe, friendly staff and extremely tasty food at reasonable prices.
We went on a Wednesday evening and they had an offer on: 25% off certain wines.
We had some nibbles: Wild mushroom & Parmesan arancini, delicious.
Our main dishes were: Korean chicken wings; Thai beef salad, Triple cooked chips, Wild sea trout & prawn fishcakes & Caesar salad.
All cooked to perfection, downed with a bottle of red.
Fab evening, thank you Back lane tavern.
