Really great ambiance, the staff are really friendly and the owner him self came and spoke to us and checked we were happy with the food and the service. There is a great choice and the food to be honest is very nice and I felt like I got Michelin star food and not overpriced. We had the lamb, I would definitely recommend this and the sticky toffee pudding.

Popped in for a pint at Christmas and have been meaning to go back ever since. Visited last night and was very impressed, we had a table in the bar area next to the fire. A lovely relaxed atmosphere with great food. We could have stayed longer but I was on driving duties! We look forward to visiting again soon. Highly recommended

It was so nice passing and seeing that the pub had been renovated and open after years of being shut so we decided to pop in and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s gorgeous cute and quaint the fire was lit and very welcoming. The decor throughout was just lovely and of a high standard and quality. We sat outside and had a few drinks and nibbles with our dogs. Lovely outside area two to choose from. Pub was very friendly. We didn’t eat as just passing but the menu looking very good, a La carte. DEF worth stopping for food or a drink

Absolutely love this place, really nice food, and coffee was excellent. Reasonably priced food and drink. Scenic views around the pub. Also has an outdoor seating area. Plenty of parking at rear. Cheerful and happy staff. We will be visiting here again. Highly recommended.

Very good and great value for money.
We went for the set menu “Hobson's Choice”, which is currently served on Tuesday evenings.

This consisted of three well-balanced dishes, of good portions size packed with flavour that had been expertly crafted. Their simplicity belied the skill needed to produce such food.

It was a pleasant surprise to be served food of such high quality. Few eating establishments in the area could meet this standard let alone surpass it.

Overall our visit was excellent.

First a couple of very minor points that are offered as positive feedback. It might be better to have the staff [including the owners] park in the far carpark to leave room for paying guests nearer to the pub. Or make it known people can park in front of the staff vehicles.

Secondly, the background music would have benefited from being a bit more in the background for us.

Now all the positives and there are many.

On walking through the door we were immediately acknowledged by, what we came to assume was the manager. This, to us, was first-class service. He took control and made us feel welcome and not left dangling wondering where to go. He projects the persona of an owner-operator but later makes it clear he was employed there. He was engaging and witty but I suspect his highly developed and to me sophisticated sense of humour might not go down well with some people but those people would have no sense of humour. For us, he is a reason to return to the pub. The problem the owners of this pub will have is when the manager is not working. We know from experience that recruiting and retaining staff like him is very difficult.

The pub has undergone a transformation since our last visit many years ago with the new owners changing the direction of the pub and carrying out a tasteful and sympathetic refurbishment. While it has some contemporary features there is still the easy comfort of a traditional country inn. We particularly like the colours and fabric choices and the imaginative use of wood. Another interesting feature was the use of industrial materials to create wine cages, which double as extra storage and a decorative feature. This, along with the quality of the food offer makes it one of the best places to eat in the wider area.

It was also good to see there were locals in there having an early-doors drink, which for us added to the pub's character.

We would highly recommend a visit to this pub.

Nice to see this pub finally open after having driven past it on our last few visits to the dales. The menu is quite small but the food was very good , served by very friendly staff, hopefully will get to return on our next dales visit

This is a little jewel in North Yorkshire. Great interior decor, designed with welcome and bonhomie in mind. Food was excellent with high quality produce and thoughtful menu sourcing local producers. Front of house is superb with James and Sam being attentive but not in your face. Wensleydale beers on tap and a thoughtful small, but perfectly formed, wine list to pair with the well considered menu. Portions are generous.
Oh and to take it to the next level -Molton-Brown soap and hand cream in the loos! What’s not to love.

Had an excellent lunch, my partner had the squid and a burger, I had mushrooms on sourdough and the halibut. We shared the parkin for desert all were excellent. It was quiet for a Friday lunchtime but that didn't detract from our enjoyment. Beautifully decorated and lovely and warm. Fortunately we're local so will be returning.

It's beautiful inside and I can imagine in summer, the outdoor seating area will be equally as stunning.
Ate at lunchtime - food was all to a very high standard and delicious. Will definitely be back.

Family dinner on Saturday evening. Warm atmosphere. At last quality wine from this establishment. Hope other pubs/restaurants take a leaf. Not a microwave in sight!!! Fresh, tasty, Christmas music a bit repetitive.
Booked again

Newly opened and renovated beautifully after a long closure. Stonebass dish was exceptional as well as the lamb. Beautiful depth of flavour, not your average pub food! Will be back to try the Sunday dinner and cocktails

Recently renovated Pub we ate here while staying locally. Having dined in some places around the area with AA rosettes - The Green Tree deserves 2.
