The Tandem Cafe

Called here for a break mid-morning while out on a bike ride.
Quite a busy place, but a fair amount of seating inside and out.
I had a ham salad sandwich which came with the options of white or seeded brown, plus crisps and a bit of salad. The sandwich was excellent, fresh soft bread, lovely thick cut roast ham, all fresh ingredients, decent size too, splendid.
Lots of sweet options too, I had a piece of plain flapjack, also very nice, had to take half home as I was getting a tad full.
I also had a flat white coffee, which for me was served in too large a cup, so far too milky for my tastes. I did point this out to the friendly lady who was running the cafe and she was most apologetic and said that if I mention this next time, she would make it in a smaller cup. I'll look forward to trying another next time I call.

All in all, a great little independent cafe that's part of a well stocked and friendly cycle shop. Well worth a visit.

Found this little gem of a cafe after being unable to get anywhere on the main street thru Bedale. Had a breakfast bap with bacon and egg, lovely cappuccino and treats for our little dog. Comfy sofa and quirky rustic cable reel table. Nice atmosphere and friendly service 👌

Found this place on a drive along the A1, only a few minutes off the road. Nice little cafe inside a bike shop, great home made food, pastries and proper coffee. Welcoming and polite. We'll worth a visit.

The cafe is a recent start up with a difference, not only do they offer really nice food and fab cakes with a smile, but its also a bike shop. They sell bikes and accessories, plus they carry out repairs.

We arrived at the cafe as a group of 10 cyclists today and there was already a few cyclists there and more arriving as we were leaving such is its popularity. They offer outside seating and cosy indoor seating and its now a regular cafe stop for us and well worth a try.

Its not the best picture, but it was a last minute after thought.

Love popping in to the tandem cafe, Gemma is always chatty and friendly and nothing is ever to much trouble. The sandwiches are great, coffee is top notch, also Paul has done a fantastic job transforming the building into a unique space for his bicycle sales and repairs and servicing side of the business and he really knows his stuff. Brilliant unique local business, highly recommend.

Surprisingly good, I was not expecting such good food out of a cycle shop but my tuna sandwich was generous in size and very tasty. There's parking there too so it's a nice spot to drop in. We walked along the beck from the centre of Bedale, then along a farm track over the railway which brought us out a few hundred yards up from the cafe so it was a perfect place to pause and refresh.

I love this cafe, great cake (the date slice is amazing) and the sandwiches are good too. The staff are so nice, efficient and cannot do enough for you.

I often visit with my cycling group and they always look after us really well, service is fast which helps for a quick bike stop to refuel.

Well worth a visit!

Perfect for cyclists! Lovely ladies, excellent food (we re-fuelled and hydrated fully for £7.70/head with baked spuds and luxurious topping with fresh salad which is a total bargain) and the guys were happy to fill our water bottles. See you again soon 🚴‍♀👍✅🌈😊💥

It's always a real pleasure to come to this cafe for the great service and the excellent quality and presentation of the food and drinks which are all very reasonably priced. There's good seating available both inside and out and with the colder weather now upon us it's nice to see that the menu's being adapted to offer cold weather fare such as bacon sarnies and soup together with other hot options such as pasties and sausage rolls. The proprietor Gemma and her staff are always very friendly and accommodating and as cyclists we're always asked if we need our water bottles topped up and if everything was alright whilst we're there or as we depart, which is a welcome touch. It's the small details that count and which are certainly evident here it's good to see! That there's a cycle shop attached to the cafe is a bonus for us cyclists (ha!) but in its own right the cafe is certainly very worthy visiting both for cyclists and anyone else (i.e. normal folk!). I'm sure there's more to come from this cafe as they establish and extend their catering options and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone!

FAB cafe for sure, super service and good range of cakes / sweet stuff that tempted my grandson and I a diabetic gave in as was walking if off LOL great brew of coffee this visit as was afternoon. Great bike shop with excellent cafe.

Nice cafe seating indoor and out, best coffee and cake in Bedale and staff are really friendly. The cafe opens at 10 but we arrive early and they welcomed us in. Definitely recommend cycling or not.
