Great venue for a large family gathering. Welcoming hosts, excellent beer and wines, an extensive menu ( even for 3 of our group who are vegan) .
The waitresses were friendly and helpful and the food was enjoyed by all and we sampled a fair proportion of the menu between us!

Highly recommend - in fact well be back tonight just to try a few more things!

I visited here with my sister in law and my nephew on the evening of September 28th 22
This is a cosy and quirky pub with a beautiful back garden. A great pint . We all ordered the sirloin steak which was very reasonably priced . Two were ordered medium rare and I asked for mine blue. All 3 steaks were cooked perfectly. The staff here were attentive but not over the top, welcoming and with good humour . Highly recommended. Thank you for looking after us 😊

Over on holiday and staying with a friend in the village. So decided we would go in for something to eat. The three meals we ordered were all very good. Good selection of beers. Nice staff. Would definitely recommend. A very enjoyable evening.

This place is a gem of a pub. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming and the whole pub just feels like a local place should. There's a good choice of beer and gins, and the food was lovely too. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

Visited it 2 nights in a row and had a great experience on both occasions. First night we all had pizzas, which were lovely and especially if you have a love of cheese. The second night we went for burger, which were also great. Special mention for the hot curry they offer, which was incredible.

Our first night in Devon and we were recommended this pub by our air BnB host, it's a small pub in a small town but my goodness is it a little diamond in the rough! You walk though the doors into a traditional country pub style place, warm, inviting, the sound of merriment and conversation throughout, bought a sense of comfort and levity to the current pandemic restricted 'new normal' experience of eating out.

We ordered drinks, a nice draft cider for me, and took a minute to peruse the menu, the barmaid was very friendly, happy to talk to us and discuss where to head for our afternoon tea today! The locals were jovial and friendly, enjoying passing conversation and seeing their beautiful dogs made the experience even better.

The food arrived and it was just beautiful, 2 steaks, a burger and a lasagne, after some cheese and bacon potato skins of course! I had the lasagne, it was hearty, generously seasoned and home made! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the experience! Please visit, support local!

Nice pub. Can be very busy at times. Food really good although the portions are huge so some dishes you might want to share. They did offer to box up the food we couldn't finish. Have been a few times and will be going back.

Great Sunday lunch

Finding ourselves in Hatherleigh at Sunday lunchtime we decided (on a local recommendation) to revisit The Tally Ho!

We hadn’t been in post COVID times but it was a real treat.

Being vegetarians we ordered the cauliflower cheese which we thought would be just that but it came with all of the usual - roast potatoes, veggie suet, stuffing, really fresh veg and vegetarian gravy - they checked with us to establish if we were vegetarians or had just ordered the cauliflower.

We had large portions and were told we wouldn’t need anything in the evening and that was true. In fact no room for pudding either which was a pity. Maybe next time small.

Good beer but most importantly such welcoming, upbeat and friendly staff and all felt very COVID safe. To get through the past 15 months and offer something like this is a real achievement which is worth rewarding.

Wish we lived closer.

Five stars for all of that.

Traditional pub with a warm ambience and exquisite food served by extremely friendly staff. The staff will go that extra mile to ensure that your visit is memorable. Since moving to Devon, the Tally Ho has become our favourite eating place. Highly recommended.

Four of us dropped in here as we are staying nearby at Devon Dogs 🐶 on a doggy training holiday. Saw that it has good reviews for food and decided to try out the Sunday roast. Five roast meats were offered, veg very fresh and the roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and real gravy were just amazing! Parsnips were roasted in homemade breadcrumbs and, and, and...
Highly recommended. Very generous portions and very reasonably priced at £8.95 for a large roast/£6.95 for a small. Would certainly come back 👍
