I stayed in Balebarn and it was so delightful, the beds were easy to sleep on and the overall place looked amazing. There were 6 people but we had many others come and go, it never felt too small the view was really nice to look at every morning. I encountered some other people staying and they were all very kind. The access to equipment was easy as we all enjoyed playing badminton, we could just get what we needed without hassle. There was a wide range of activities to do for all ages including bringing boats out onto the lake and riding bikes into the town. 100% will be going back. Shout out to Euan for being cool and being good at badminton :D

Wonderful place, truly relaxing. The lodge is fabulous, beautifully decorated, presented & very clean. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, etc.
Super view from the balcony, have loved watching the birds and butterflies.
It's lovely to wander round the site and the nature ponds. We've been so content here we've hardly gone elsewhere on our week here!
Ian & Maggie, our hosts are very friendly & welcoming; lovely cream tea in our arrival waiting for us.
Have really enjoyed the hot tub ( Beech lodge), really lovely in the evening with the colour changing lights. Well worth the £25 extra for using it for the week.
All in all, highly recommend for everyone! :-)

My elderly mother, two teenage daughters and I just spent a week in one of the cabins at Wheatland Farm - we all enjoyed ourselves. Beech Lodge was exactly as shown on line and was clean, tidy with a well stocked kitchen. As promised Ian was there to great us and help transport our luggage to the cabin (a short walk). Delicious freshly baked scones were also delivered, which were very welcome after the long drive. We enjoyed games of badminton in the evening and my girls took out bikes almost every day and rode around the property. The location was ideally located for us in the middle of Devon which made it easy to go both north, south and east. Both Ian and Maggie were delightful and knowledgeable about the area, the kind of people you can imagine being friends with if you lived in the area. We would highly recommend Wheatland Farm and be happy to stay again if in the area.

Stayed here probably five times. The wooden Lodges are comfortable and well equipped. WiFi is not super fast but more than adequate. The views are lovely, beautiful meadows, wild flowers and lots of wildlife. Home made scones and jam on arrival are always welcome. Good base to explore Devon and Dartmoor from.

We had the most magical week here. Ian and Maggie were perfect hosts and their land is simply wonderful. Our 3 year old son had a great time tramping across the acres of woodland. His particular highlight was the tree house and play equipment in the meadow. We also loved boating in the lake and playing on the go-carts Ian had made. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel comfortable and at home. Our lodge was beautiful and immaculate. We will definitely be returning!!

A beautiful place to stay. The accommodation supports running the farm as a nature reserve. There is abundant wildlife from the fish jumping first thing in the morning through to watching the bat's in the twilight. Otter cottage is well appointed whilst retaining much rustic charm. Highly recommended!

Stayed in cosy Otter cottage as it has a secure garden for my dog. Wanted to support the owners quest to increase the biodiversity of the farmland. Borrowed one of the bikes to explore the locality but most of our walks were a car journey away.

Wow, what a lovely place to stay, was beautiful and peaceful location. We stayed in Balebarn lodge was very comfortable, the bifold doors really made a difference . We were lucky enough to have a fox visit us right up to the doors watched a barn owl swooping across the pond and the meadow, lots of different types of birds to keep us entertained .
Owners were very friendly and the home made scones were great.

We stayed for the weekend with our 5 month old pup Luna. We were met by Ian with a plate of home made scones and jam which was a lovely gesture. Ian was very welcoming, the lodge was cosy and very clean with everything we needed. The surroundings are beautiful and the nature is in abundance. Would love to return in better weather when everything is in Bloom and lush green. Very eco friendly. More places like this very much needed in the world.
Thank you Ian and Maggie for a lovely stay !

Amazing! We stayed in Balebarn the large eco lodge, converted from an old balebarn. The setting is idyllic in the middle of rural Devon and the owners Ian and Maggie can't do enough to make your holiday fun. From the home cooked scones delivered when you arrive to guided walks, pond dipping sessions and all the comforts of home. The lodge has been made accessible for ambulant wheelchair users with ramped access, a wet room and solid hard flooring throughout. I emailed the owners before arrival and they configured the bedrooms as requested and had a toilet seat raiser, shower seat and shower wheelchair for me to use during the week. This helped massively, furthermore upon arrival a large rug on the floor was going to be a hazard for me, no sooner had I mentioned it Ian had rolled it up and took it away. Honestly this place was awesome and I am sure we will return soon. The setting is perfect, acres to explore, hidden play areas, home-made tree houses and games around the site, repurposed bikes, scooters and skateboards. A couple of ponds for all sorts of activities and views to die for. We picked blackberries and had lots of fun.

The finishing touches in the barn are lovely, local maps for lampshades, mugs as light surrounds, a coffee table from a storm felled tree. Everywhere we looked there was repurposed items and funky things. Ecology is clearly important to the local community and none more so than at Wheatland Farm. You will love the quirky nature of where you stay and the array of local walks and activities. One of which must be to Fiona's farm shop for breakfast and cream tea. Another gem in the middle of nowhere.

Stayed in the Balebarn. Wonderfully constructed with top eco building credentials. Wind and solar generated power and great hand made upcycled and reclaimed detailing. Very warm, stylish and comfortable. The dogs were made very welcome with bowls, blankets and cushion beds.
The view over the pond made it hard to leave
