Great garden centre with a lovely restaurant!

The garden centre spaces are well laid out with a lot of choice. All of the plants look very healthy. The staff are extremely helpful and went out of their way to help us when we were asking questions as novice gardeners! They also have a separate space which has been a summer area and winter/grotto when we have been there.

The restaurant area is huge with a fantastic terrace area so we will be back in the summer. Food is excellent with large portions and again the staff in the restaurant are very friendly.

Definitely recommend a visit.

Brilliant place to go for a coffee and food too 🤩

Amazing array of frozen foodstuffs/ready meals (a bit pricey but look delicious). Gift ware ideas and all the gardening things you could think of. I managed to find a larger clear pot for my orchid so I was pleased. Excellent goodhall and great friendly staff.

I visited another garden centre close by at first but was rather unimpressed with the variety and the prices, so left with nothing and took a trip down the road to Baytree of Hilgay. Instantly I felt this garden centre was much better. They had a fantastic variety, much more reasonable pricing and had some nice offers on at the time too. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful as well. Would definitely recommend and would visit again!

First time visiting this garden centre. We were impressed. Everything is beautifully displayed. It's tidy and well laid out. The man that served us was very polite, friendly and took great care in wrapping our purchases. Thank you!

Great place love all the gardening bits and brilliant to go see santa claus at christmas

Lovely garden centre, well stocked, good plants, plenty of choice. Reasonably priced. Cafe brilliant as it has a dog friendly area too. Good quality very good a well.

Arrived on Sunday at 11.00 am and they were happy to still serve us breakfast. Excèllent selection for 3 adults and 3 children. Everyone was happy. Lovely staff and reasonably priced.

Thinking Garden Centre? ...think again... OMG it's FABULOUS!!!
Absolutely SUPERB! Welcome, service, food, staff and atmosphere. Garden Centre, related shops and restaurant all of exquisite standard and excellent value. In the restaurant the waiting/serving team - Ben especially - were great - kind, professional and attentive - without being smothering. Food was for approx. 25 people - it came out hot and we were all able to eat together - and it stayed hot as plates were appropriately heated - it was beautifully cooked and was absolutely delicious. It was a traditional Christmas Dinner - absolutely amazing roast potatoes and Yorkshires, lovely veg, meat delicious (according to fellow guests and the veg Nut Roast was beautiful. Desserts were also superb - presented beautifully and tasted amazing! The actual Garden centre; the shops, the Christmas shop (inc. Santa's Grotto) absolutely fabulous - massive range of lovely products for all tastes and pockets.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! Have already been back once and booked to come in the New Year for Afternoon Tea with my mum!

A really superb garden centre. Good selection of plants all keenly priced and inspiringly presented.
Food in the restaurant is wonderful, although service somewhat underresourced.
Staff throughout helpful and cheerful.

A fantastic garden centre with the most impressive burger in the area. Efficient and friendly staff, in a well maintained and beautiful building. Will absolutely be going back and won't hesitate to recommend to friends. Super impressive!

Went today to visit Santa, who was amazing we took 6year old, 3 year old and 5 month old they was all catered for toy wise and the staff within grotto was amazing and so friendly and magical. On our way out we stopped in the barn restaurant which although very busy was not lacking in customer service, everyone was so friendly and helpful and was happy to meet one of our boys dietary requirements with no issues or hassle. Overall lovely experience will definitely be returning! Thank you all

Bay Tree of Hilgay, made celebrating our Golden Wedding on Saturday Really easy.
Management and staff planned our event carefully, efficiently and with great manners and tolerance.
We had 120 guests with lots of children and lots of elderly too!
They easily coped with that number, in the beautiful venue of the Barn which was decorated wonderfully.
Catering was brilliant with loads of great food, enjoyed by everyone. We can't praise them enough and would happily recommend The Baytree Barn for any celebration.

We love the restaurant because it's very welcoming to us and our dog. Hot food available all day so a couple of times we have called in for a very late lunch.

Plenty of parking here and easy to find. It is totally wheelchair friendly and have a wide variety of product in the farm shop. It has a large spacious cafe. The food here was good quality for money and it was very well kept inside. Sanitised between customers the tables and facilities were very clean. The plant are high quality and we brought Heather and primrose plant from here. We will visit again, it was a lovely day out.

Our first visit to Baytree at Hilgay today. It certainly won't be our last. We had dinner and drinks in The Barn. Great food, great prices, friendly staff. Great garden centre. Recommend to all.

Amazing Santa experience! We took our five month old for a spur of the moment visit to Santa, mainly just for the pictures and memories as we know he wouldn't understand it yet. We'd previously visited a Santa at another garden centre we won't name (begins with D 🙃), and that was awful - took one minute to see us, took a picture and basically sent us out.

However, the Santa experience at Baytree was completely different! He took the time to hold our son and spoke to him as he would any other older child, obviously knowing he had no idea what was being said. The "Santa" was so kind, he sat and explained everything to our son, spoke to him like he understood it all and made it such an amazing experience. Santa definitely looked the part, even down to having a real beard which I feel definitely adds the authentic feel to it, the grotto was decorated beautifully too. It's safe to say that we will definitely be back every year from now on, thank you so much for the most amazing experience :-)

The chef's turkey and leek casserole was the perfect meal on a very cold day. Thank you. Staff are always friendly.

They were very polite and friendly food was good staff were really helpful I would recommend them 10 out of 10
