The Golden Lion Hotel

I really enjoyed my visit here.

One thing that struck me, was the close attention detail.

In every respect, it was hard to find fault with the Golden Lion Hotel.

Although limited outside parking. There are several car parks nearby. The nearest being less than five minutes walk away.

Rarely have I been in a hotel, where things have been so right.

I enjoyed a brief stay. But would happily do so again.

Stayed here for August bank holiday weekend, this is second time my wife and i have stayed here,

The hotel is in a lovely location, the rooms are clean and well presented,
staff are very friendly and helpful, food is lovely and fresh, we will return next year.

We have stayed at other Coaching Inn hotels and have never been disappointed.

An excellent hotel in every respect. We spent two nights here and had breakfast, daytime drinks and evening meals.
Our room, 314, was very comfortable. A good sized bed with decent pillow. Tea & coffee making facilities, proper chairs and a huuuuge bathroom.
Even though it was at the front of the hotel it was quiet, even setting up the large Monday market didn’t disturb us.
The food was delicious, there was good variety and prices were reasonable.
The staff were all friendly and cheerful, professional at all times and looked genuinely happy in their work.
The location on the Main Street is excellent with the town facilities, parking and riverside just minutes away.
I absolutely recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to return.

Had my wedding at the Golden Lion and have nothing but positive things to say about the rooms, the staff, the food - everything was pretty much perfect. Big shout out especially to Jake, who was attentive and managed to pull off a fantastic event at relatively short notice, despite me being in another continent!

Very well trained professional staff.
Our room was very small with veiw of the old car park the En suite was also small with a large step up into the old shower..
But negotiated a change of Hotel Room.
Which was more than acceptable with a proper Bath with Shower.
But not a nice Open aspect to relax in which was dissapoimting as it had soiled linen trollies stored in.

The room was very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The food was delicious at dinner and breakfast. All the staff were both friendly and professional. Would definitely return.

My wife and I had the most delicious meal at the Golden Lion yesterday afternoon. The service was excellent and the bar restaurant was cosy and comfortable. Many thanks to the front of house team who were so friendly and made us feel welcome. Thanks also to the chefs and the kitchen team who prepared a beautifully presented and delicious meal. We will definitely be back.

We had a lunch at the golden lion today I must say the waitress was very welcoming , the food was fantastic, we will definitely be eating there again.

Loved my stay at this warm welcoming, attractive hotel. Well positioned in the town. All the staff I met were friendly and helpful. The room was well appointed and the toiletries were especially nice.

2nd stay and right in the middle of town, near to lots of little shops and restaurants. The staff are lovely and went the extra mile. We needed to change rooms (just a bit too warm for us, height of summer) but it was no trouble at all, no questions asked, just changed straight away, and we were given another fabulous room. The food is great and the breakfast was delicious. Thanks for a lovely stay

A lovely experience when eating out here for dinner, great atmosphere. My gammon was delicious. The drinks were good and the service from staff was brilliant. I would highly recommend for dinner if in St Ives.

Great location, twin room was very clean with a lovely bathroom but could do with a furniture re-shuffle which would improve being able to move past the beds.(My friend and I actually sat and reorganised the furniture in our heads!) The staff I encountered were all very helpful, in particular Lia.

I had my surprise baby shower here and they made it incredibly special.

I had a lovely stay and I liked my room. The cooked breakfasts were very nice. All the staff were very professional and friendly. It is in a great location too being on the high street. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is part of a chain with the Talbot at Oundle, The Bell at Stilton and The Golden Lion Hotel at St Ives amongst others. This is a lovely hotel and the menus are simple but something for everybody. The meals are extremely tasty and the surroundings welcoming and relaxing. We enjoy all 3 of the above places and visit one nearly every week. Nothing is too much for the staff at each hotel
