Amazing quality and huge portions. Been a few times before but decided to finally write a review. Cannot believe how good the food is for the money. Decent coffee also.
Didn't have room for a sweet treat today but they always nice.

Absolutely brilliant value ( though it isn't cheap) and very delicious food. The prices are very good given the size of the portions. Today we had a sandwich, roast vegetable and cream cheese on malted bread plus a pot of herb tea each. The sandwich was really nice and very filling. The staff are nice, but quite hard pushed, the premises are small and it is popular, so it can be a bit slow and feel a little cramped. We didn't have a cake today but have had cake in the past & they are all great

We love this place. The food is fantastic, the cakes are to die for and the coffee is both hot and aromatic. This cafe is our first stop whenever we visit Saffron Walden!

I absolutely loved this little cafe hidden in Saffron Alden. Not only is the food beautiful to see but it's absolutely yummy too! The choice is overbearing and mouth watering.
The staff are friendly and welcoming. I had the mushroom and stilton quiche with salad and then a millionaire's shortbread, delicious!
Definitely go there if you have the chance!

Wow what a feast for the eye at the counter, such a yummy looking selection of cakes and savories. We had coffee which was great and two huge and tasty cheese scones. The cafe can get very busy and it is not unusual to have to wait for a table at busy times. Oh, those scones were good. :-).

Update Feb 2022 - still just as good. The carrot cake is superb, the best I have ever had, and I've had a lot of cake.

June 2022 - still great.
April 2023 - still great.
Feb. 2024 - still great.

Coucou does amazing food. Doorstep sandwiches, great salads, but where they really score is desert. If you're not allergic to nuts, try the florentine, it's amazing.

Service can be a little slow, not glacial, just not awesome. But it's a great little place.

Called in for 1st time for sourdough but unfortunately only do this Friday and Saturday. So we went upstairs for a cup of tea. Waitress was polite , friendly and efficient. Menu looked OK so decided to try something . Was pleasantly surprised. My wife had a fruit Scone with butter and Apricot Jam ( Tiptree ) which is good . Far superior to some places that use the horrible plastic portions her scone was very large and light. She said it was lovely. I had pork pie and salad which was great . Pastry was good. Salad was also good with leaves and sun blushed tomatoes and tossed in balsamic vinegar. Altogether a great place for a light bite. Would certainly return

Really good food...so good we went back again. Salads were very fresh, tasty and filling. Served with fabulous bread. Went back for breakfast and again it was delicious. The place had a lovely atmosphere, busy but not overcrowded or noisy. Unfortunately, due to being on a diet had to resist the goodies in the shop where everything looked wonderful.

Nice coffee and the sandwiches we had were so full of filling were full up when we finished. My wife was stung on her finger bye a bumble bee and the Manager and staff were so concerned and helpful. Thanks to them she is ok. Well done everyone.

Fantastic quality home made food - get off the main Street and find this gem around the corner. We had breakfast there....and came back for lunch ... And will do exactly the same next time we come to Saffron Walden. Smiley staff, warm and welcoming. Don't miss this.

Simply divine. *Chefs kiss*
Currently sat here tucking into a goats cheese, walnut and beetroot salad and I tore myself away from it to leave this review.

The only place for lunch in saffron Walden.
