Eric's Fish & Chips

This is a fantastic, award winning, fish and chip restaurant. I'm not local but I pop by when I'm in the area. Their food is about the tastiest fish and chips I've had and I have been to possibly the best there is in Whitby but this is up there with the best.
You can eat in or take out and you can order ahead ready for your collection via their app which works very well and I believe is cheaper than ordering on site. There is an outdoor eating area and play area for children.
The restaurant was spotlessly clean and the staff were very efficient and friendly.
If you are in the area then this is a must try restaurant. I'm sure you'll be as impressed as I am.

Very nice fish and chips. Freshly made to order. Batter was light and crunchy and chips were not soggy. Packaged nicely in cardboard boxes. Homemade tartar was very nice. Prices not too expensive. We will definitely return.

Tried Eric's for the first time tonight. Had heard about them from others and liked the look of the menu.

Ordered the chilli cod bits and the chicken fillets. Loved the little waiting area for takeaway orders. Was ready in under 10 mins.

Both items were really nice. The breading on the chicken was just right in terms of flavour and density, loved the black pepper in it. The cod bites / strips were equally well coated and nicely cooked. Never had black garlic anything before; whilst the mayo was nice (possibly made with help seed oil or could just be the taste of the black garlic), it perhaps wasn't my cup of tea but it wasn't bad by any means.

Would happily visit again to try some of the other bits. Nice to go somewhere with a bit of a twist on the classics.

Had take-away to save cooking before our Christmas Eve visit to Sandringham. I am no chip lover but loved the chips. Everything was fried to perfection - no grease. The fish and deep fried gherkins are delicious. We even tried the deep fried Christmas pudding as we couldn't quite believe it could be done. It was absolutely amazing- who'd have thought ? Can't wait to come back.

Outstanding fish and chips.
Just fabulous. Excellent fish, with perfectly crisp batter and the chips were fantastic. We also tried some battered squid and some next-level battered gherkins. These were delicious!! Thick slices of gherkin in crispy batter that were still juicy and crisp in the middle. The black garlic mayo was recommended with the squid and it was delicious. It's also sold by the jar, so we're definitely going back for more in a couple of days.
Very highly recommended indeed!

Quite Pricey but overall Presentation is just as good as the food, AMAZING! Staff are extremely kind and Helpful and made sure we were looked after very well during our full meal we are very happy with everything, We will be coming back!

Lovely traditional fish and chip shop, we had cod haddock and chips , the chips was fresh/hot and the beer batterd fish is well worth the travel , we drove 2hours from Cambridgeshire and will be returning 😀

First class service. Wonderfully decorated. Scrumptious food. Great value for money. Eric’s have pursued the grail of producing traditional fish and chips. To this end they fry in beer batter. However, rapeseed oil and gluten free options are available.

Like any other Brit I love my fish and chips and wow Eric's fish and chips are superb! I ordered a medium haddock and chips, out comes a plate with not one but ywo fish! Plus very nice thick chips all cooked just right. As with the Eric's pizza place next door, great to have some local craft beers to choose from. Staff very friendly and efficient - looking forward to my next visit!

Wow! This is what you want Fish and Chips to be like! It's a lovely retro yet modern feel to the restaurant.
The service was brilliant, and the portions were perfect! Not massive but still great value for money!
This is not your ordinary Chippy! These guys know how to fry fish! The batter is thick enough to be crispy, but still.light enough to let the fish be the star of the show! Fancy some sauce, then the curry sauce is exceptional! Sweet and fruity, yet with a bit of a sharp undertone. Delish!

Been back again, this time had the chicken burger! Delish. And battered orios, again delicious, odd but still delicious!

Wow, this place was a pleasure to visit today, had a bite to eat in the chip shop resturant the food was excellent, staff friendly and helpful , will certainly trying the pizza resturant tomorrow and will check out the other shops on the site as well

Perfect modern Fish & Chip shop. Giles Coren loved it so you probably will too. Chips cooked in beef dripping are excellent, fish is good as are soo the fun additions. Definitely worth a visit.

Best fish and chips I had in a while, chicken filet was better than KFC according to my 12 year old. Nice place with plenty other little businesses to check around.

Fantastic fresh fish and chips. Really crispy, fresh and tasty. My fiancé had the large cod and chips and I had the cod bites (6) and medium chips. There was plenty to eat - great portions.
Variety on the menu with sides and extras.
Order at kiosk, wait 5-10 mins for food to be cooked. Can sit outside on decking or in the play area or picnic area.
Relaxed, quirky and clean.
Toilets are clean too.
Plenty of parking which is free!
Staff are friendly
Well worth a visit!

Thoroughly good food, great menu with some nice little twists on the traditional fish and chips. Loved the onion rings with lime.

It’s not an ordinary fish and chips restaurant! The menu is exciting! Love the garlic mayo sauce and the fish strips is crispy and nicely flavoured! Strongly recommend everyone to try it if you are around this area! ♥

Best fish and chips you can get the area. Get that curry sauce in yo! Atmosphere not huge as there weren't many people in, a fault that shouldn't be their own!

What a surprise - stuck for eating with full-up pubs on a Saturday night so Googled for fish and chips, this place is amazing! Very surprising menu with excellent beer and spirits menu. Fish and chips was fantastic, crisp batter and fab chips, battered gherkins the best I've ever had since I first had them in London, 2010. A peculiarly hipster joint in the middle of nowhere but it will become a regular when we visit.
