Visited Leiston Abbey early on a Sunday morning in November so had the Abbey to ourselves.
It is a large ruin of an Abbey surrounded by country side.
There are barriers around the building which I tried to avoid in the pictures, I assume for our safety, which take a bit of the magic away but I enjoy my time there, not long but if passing worth a drop in.
There is a barn there that holds private functions, wedding, yoga etc

Low key site (no amenities or oversight), but worth a visit. Good signs explain everything well.

The buildings are used for music practice which gives a great atmosphere. We enjoyed some talented pianists and violinists during our visit; a highlight of our day. They are planning some restoration works so there are fences and I imagine it'll just get better.

Only found this place accidentally whilst driving from Aldeburgh to Southwold on the B1122, and so glad that we did. Entry is completely free and we had a fabulous time walking around the ruined abbey in the glorious afternoon sunshine. Well worth stopping off for an hour or so to enjoy the peace and tranquility.

I was cycling past on a bikepacking tour when I saw this Abbey in the distance. You can completely walk around the Abbey, it’s quite impressive, with large distinctive archways. It’s been partially converted into a music hall and practice rooms which feels like the perfect accompaniment to such lovely ruins.

Wondering around the Abbey whilst classical instruments play away in the background is a perfect combination!

I recommend taking the time to visit Leiston Abbey, you won’t regret it if you’re in the area!

Especially interesting is the tiny spiral staircase and the teeny doorways. You get an idea of how much smaller people were when this was in active use.

At one with Nature & reading of the history of all our predecessors' ❤...what a beautiful idyllic little place for restoration, reflection, calming making memories & moments of enjoying the great outdoors once a day exercise, so near my Garrett heritage.
We didnt know they had so much to offer...

It’s a worth while visit as it’s still an awesome structure, just use your imagination to think of the remarkable builders that erected it.

Saw the ruins from the road and quickly turned in for a look. Free to walk around, no staff in the off season. Beautiful old ruins, huge arch in particular.

Marvellously atmospheric. Thus must be one of England's best preserved abbeys. Some superb craftsmanship in the building work.
