Surprise View

Amazing view. There is parking within an easy 2 minutes walk of the carpark, which cost us £1 for half an hour. It's a bit of a scary drive to get to the carpark though, not for the feint hearted.

Amazing vie and good place to be, the best part is you can drive all the way up and park near the spot, just note that parking is limited and it’s steep narrow drive up.

The view is absolutely amazing! We parked just a minute from the view and it was easily accessible. It’s very beautiful up there! I just wished there was toilets nearby so we can stay a little bit longer or even have a little picnic with the view.

This place was perfect - very peaceful and beautiful! Definitely a surprise little viewpoint since you’re just following the winding road up with trees all around until suddenly there’s a clearing with stunning views of the lake and mountains.
The parking is free and the place is quite low-key with places to sit and eat while enjoying the scenery.
On the way up there are nice spots like a bridge and river to take some pictures there also.

Probably the most stunning view in the whole of the Lake District. The pictures and video really don't do it justice. Id also recommend it's better earlier in the day time due to the position of the sun. I brought my family here and it was a special time. There is ancar park literally across the road from it, but it's small and i can imagine this area tonget very busy during peak season. I'd definitely come back here.

Very very good view point to see Derwentwater. Easy to reach by car. Free parking.

It was a lovely place, fantastic views. It's really easy to get to and if you then follow the road to the end. There's a nice cafe and walk up into the hills

This is the place to be, stunning view of Ambleside , pretty easy walk , accessible by car , push chair.
Be mindful though it not too far but the trek is pretty steep.

This is one of the most breath taking views of the Lake District. Well worth the walk or the drive. You can drive all the way to the top if you want. There is a car parking fee though. Absolutely stunning views at the top.

Suprise view is exactly as it sounds. You drive up a stunning country road, park up in a small car park and then look out onto thr most amazing view of ulswater and bassenthwaite!! The view is stunning best going on a sunny day for that postcard photo

Perfect spot to see the lake, if you get your timing right you can see a perfect sunset as well!

Breath taking views, accessible by car. Some lovely walks round the view point. Definitely recommend 👍🏻

Lovely place to look over the lake with views for miles , nice walks .. drive up there is a bit different with the vary narrow lanes so take your time ! Good car park at the top but it is chargeable unfortunately

Amazing view of the lake. Drive up the hill was on a single track road with passing places. Worth the trip but could be difficult if faced with some of the large vans that were parked up at the top.

Very nice view. But you need to have very good driving skills to reach here. Not recommend to new drivers.

Beautiful, just amazing.
Do bear in mind the narrow entry points right to the top.
Certain vehicles panic causing unnecessary traffic, all in all well worth the visit.

Fantastic view. Parking very close by. Road up to the car park is narrow but plenty of passing places.

Nice view, not really a surprise after the name spoils it. Strangely it had an ethnic vibe as most visitors coming and going on the day we were there were Indian, so they were playing Bollywood style music etc :)
