The Railway

Absolutely lovely place. Service was excellent, food was lovely and the pub itself is beautiful. Lovely atmosphere and kept really lovely. Anyone in the area should definitely try this place.

Went to the railway for a works Christmas meal with colleagues. Staff very pleasant and polite. Food was very nice Christmas menu was good and fairly priced for the 2 course or 3 course meal. COVID restrictions are in place, nice setting and will visit again.

Good staff, simple pub food from a limited menu with the option of small meals as well as the large plates. I had the small haddock, chips and mushy peas, with a good guest ale, and was very pleased by the food and decor. Special menu for April gives large main and dessert for £12.95. there is a good choice for vegetarians and for children.

What a great find. I saw the pub coming home from the station the other night and I'm so pleased I did - popped in for a drink, lovely staff, decor and atmosphere so came back a few days later for lunch.
The food is fabulous. Good size portions so bring a good appetite!
Well cooked, tasty, on point every time - scampi is often not crunchy, poorly cooked - these were deliciously crispy on the outside and lovely inside,tender but not squishy (or tough cos overcooked), ideal combi, and my friend's burger was perfect - as were all the sides and the pud. Yes, it's 'pub grub' if you like but it's 1) pretty perfectly cooked 2) excellent choices, including for veggies and vegans.
Staff are fab. I see some people mentioned it's expensive, I absolutely refute that - 6 large glasses wine (!😲😂), 2 large and very good coffees, 2 fabulous mains with more than we could eat and a pud - less than 60. I mean. If you think that's expensive then you've probably never left your village and don't even think about going to Ireland, Luxembourg, Scandinavia (or anywhere outside your village).

loverly meal in there tonight, very friendly staff great meal good value for money

Reasonable pub grub served quickly, hot and tasty and at a reasonable price given the market. Nice to have a few smaller, cheaper options for all. Not just kids. Good selection of drinks on tap.

Great food fast service 👌 little cold in there so take a woolly that said it was a miserable day weatherwise

Excellent pre-Christmas lunch with neighbours. Good service despite a very busy time. Food served hot and orders all correct. We all had a great time.

We hadn't made a reservation, but we're promptly accomodated, and got excellent good value meals and a drink.

Enjoyed a fantastic family meal here. Food was lovely. The menu has lots of options to suit all. It's great to see more vegetarian options other than the normal Margherita pizza or mac' n' cheese!! Would definitely recommend. 🙂

Booked a table for 12 people. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. and accommodating. Good home cooked food. Great Service. We had 2 vegetarians in our party who were very impressed with the amount of choices of vegetarian and vegan meals on the menu, and the quality of the food. Happy to recommend.

Went to the railway last night with friends. First time visit, I have to say we were very impressed. The food was amazing and plenty of it. The service was very good.no long wait even though they were busy. The staff were very friendly. Will definitely go there again wish we had of visited sooner. Great service and price .thank you for a lovely evening.

Never been here before. My friend and I hadn't booked anywhere for lunch and were turned away from our first choice, as full. We'd passed The Railway, and as there were several cars in the carpark, we decided to go back there. What a gem we'd found!
At first we were told they too were full, but then a table was found for us. The restaurant was very clean and well laid out, with perspex screens between each table about 6 feet high, so very little chance of any cross contamination.There was also a card on the table to say that it had been cleaned. Disposable menus were in use which we were invited to take away with us. Individual condiments were brought to you with your meal, nothing on the table which could be contaminated.
The menu was quite extensive, but we both went for the roast beef. It was one of the best roasts I've ever had. Delicious tender roast beef, and plenty of it, served with very tasty gravy, a light crisp Yorkshire pudding, generous serving of crisp fluffy roast potatoes, plus buttered new potatoes, and a side dish of 5 assorted vegetables.
I looked at other meals being served and they all looked good. There's some lovely desserts on the menu too, and the usual choices of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks you'd expect in a pub.
Service was good and we weren't waiting very long. Prices were average.
I would highly recommend The Railway for its delicious food, and being the safest place I have encountered during this pandemic. You certainly wouldn't be afraid to take granny for Sunday lunch or any other time.
Oh, and there are two large outside seating areas. But I would advise booking to avoid disappointment.

Four of us booked in at short notice, no problem, on a Saturday. All of our food was excellent and served in good time even though it became very busy.
Definitely return again.

Friendly staff serve good home cooked pub style food, piping hot & at a fair pricefrom a varied menu. Plenty of seating both inside & out. Looking forward to another visit soon.

Lovely meal. Staff very helpful. Had main and dessert plus drink and coffee for £20. The lemon pavlova was absolutely gorgeous. They have a choice of about 5 or 6 pavlovas so if you love meringue this is the place for you ☺

Had our first meal here and was very happy with the food and service and that they served up on a warm plate. We will be going back.
