Happiness2 Durham

We visited for a hot pot and loved it. The food was prepared within 20 minutes and so yummy ... We had a couple soups (Thai and mushroom), meat platter, mushrooms, dumplings and noodles plus drinks. Tea was very tasty and so was lychee drink 🍻. It was a lovely atmosphere and a full house! We will be back very very soon!

This is authentic Chinese food, maybe not the kind of stuff we Brits are used to. I really enjoyed it, and I came back several times. They have lots of tasty food available, including vegetarian options. The drinks are reasonably priced as well.

All of the female staff were always so friendly and attentive even though one of the guys who seemed to be their manager treated the girl on the till very rudely and unfairly for no reason. Please treat your servers with more respect ffs because they do a fantastic job, unlike yourself!

Their hot pot is amazing. Plenty options for soup base, meat, veggies and etc. A reminder is that the sauces charges for extra, but it’s affordable. They also have other food options, such as golden bead soup, plum ribs, wonton and etc. Most of the dishes are bit pricy but they do taste good. Overall it is the best Chinese restaurant in Durham.

It it so good. Get a hotpot, as well as a lot of leaves and meat to boil, tastes pretty good. Not going to regret it.

I’ve been here twice and the food is so good! The name is accurate because we are always so happy to come here. I have no idea what happened to happiness 1 though, or if there even is one. We will definitely keep coming here. The staff are very polite and they always help us find a table. I posted a picture of me with my empty plate because that is all we ever leave behind😋😋

Great food, wish they have more variety of food. But one of the best places in DH for mandarin food.

Incredible hot pot venue with great prices and easy to get to location next to main car park. The menu offers an impressive selection with massive portions included in the platters. Can't recommend this place enough if you want a unique dining experience with great friendly staff

Had the hot pot tonight and it was so good. I lived in Beijing for 3 years but it’s been over a decade since I came home and this is the first time since that I’ve ate anything that tasted like real China! Loved it and will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Lovely service too.

I ordered a fried beef rice noodle, it was delicious.

I had the pleasure of dining here with my family in October (I know a late review). It is hands down the best sit down Chinese restaurant all of us had ever visited to date. Outstanding food and extremely helpful staff. The menu was varied and familiar, yet you could try some of the more none traditional selections that British tend not to see at Chinese restaurants. A must visit if you're in the area. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Durham.

We ate at Happiness2 twice in our one week in Durham. The first time, we enjoyed a lovely dinner and the second time we returned for delicious dim sum. The food was freshly prepared and the service was excellent!

Have lived in Shanghai for six years and this is easily the best Chinese restaurant I’ve been to in the UK. It’s actually authentic, so don’t be surprised if you can’t find your sizzling garlic mushrooms or whatever they serve in your usual Westernised Chinese restaurant. Staff really friendly, the spicy dishes are fully authentic Sichuan (stamp of approval from my mum, who happens to be from there), portion sizes are definitely satisfactory. Didn’t try the hotpot but it looked amazing.

The food is great and the place is done out to a very high standard. Being able to read a fair bit of Chinese, the English translations on the menu don't necessarily reflect the exact dishes you'll get. Although the staff will be happy to help, and wouldn't life be boring if we always knew what was coming?

Authentic aisian food. The menu is primarily written in Chinese so it can be daunting to pick.

The food is excellent.

Still good. 👍 They have an interactive iPad menu so it's less daunting as previous visits.

Really fresh hotpots that you put together yourself at the table. Dumplings are really tasty too.

Be careful with the spicy dishes as they are very hot.

A good selection of dishes, the buns are especially good. I think its the nicest Chinese restaurant in Durham at the moment and it's not too expensive.
