A quaint little pub only just opened. Amazing team both in the kitchen and behind the bar. Absolutely amazing food, and despite being small and busy, we were not rushed at all. Food was nice and hot, well presented and extremely tasty. We booked, and as it was a busy Sunday, we were glad we did!

Fresh, delicious food in a beautiful garden behind a lovely, old but recently updated pub.
Stopped in here after doing the Holister Slate Mine tour as it’s run by the same bothers. Was delighted to meet one of the brothers behind the bar for a chat. Gorgeous setting and great vibe. Highly recommend visiting.

Myself, boyfriend and two dogs had a lovely impromptu lunch at The Yew Tree in Seatoller. We had been walking up Haystacks, planning to drive until we found somewhere to eat, and we stumbled upon this beautiful place.
The beer garden is stunning - well kept flower beds with a river running through the end of it, which has all been well maintained.
The inside is equally as lovely, having been refurbished but still keeping a lot of the building’s original features and character.
I had the lamb kofta burger which was probably one of the best, if not the best, burger I have ever eaten with a side of the most amazing chips. My boyfriend had the steak ciabatta which looked equally as delicious.
The staff were very welcoming, mentioning that the pub had only been re-opened 2 weeks prior, following a 15-year closure. We’re sad we only stumbled upon this amazing find on our last day and highly recommend to anyone in the local area.

Had a bit of a shock this year finding my usual pubs closed with the Riverside Bar and Swinside gone. Bigger shock to find the Yew Tree back open on my doorstep in Seatoller and doing a great job. Bar service really friendly and personal. Food is proper pub food with effort thrown in. Rounded off with some good cocktails. Pub itself has been restored to its former glory especially the beer garden - weather permitting. Only improvement would be to add a door closer to the back door to make it more cosy in the evening. Had a brilliant week and we ate/drank there every night apart from Monday/Tuesday when it was closed.

The best meal I have had in years. It was delicious. Lamb Raviolo starter, Lamb Kofta Burger, Chicken Bites and Dark Chocolate Delice. Exactly what we needed after a long hike. Quite expensive but worth every penny.

We had a delicious lunch here, we had driven by a few times on the way to Buttermere and Honister slate mine. I am delighted we decided to stop. Small menu, but that always makes me happy, I had the cod and chips, my husband and son the steak sandwich. Everything beautifully cooked, warm welcome from the staff who were very helpful. Will be definitely returning.

I only popped in for a pint while I was camping in the near by yurts. Lovely pint very friendly and helpful barmaid. I'm now playing the strike radio music. Thanks for the help 🙂

So pleased it's re-opened. Felt really old when informed it's been 15 years!
Only needed a snack, so had some cheesy fries with bacon bits. Best chips ever. Great pint of ale too, in a delightful garden.
Will be back to have a full meal sometime, hopefully soon. Well done everyone - keep it up!

Such a lovely pub!! The garden was magical, just on the river and we were even lucky enough to have some live music on a Saturday evening. The food was fantastic and the staff were outstanding.

Really taken with this pub that also serves high quality food. I booked a meal for six after a Scafell Pike hike and from the moment we arrived we were treated like friends. Save yourself for a full 3 course meal, it really is worth it.

Had a wonderful evening with friends last night - great food, with the kitchen staff going out of their way to make a gluten-free dinner on request for my coeliac partner. Can’t believe it’s only been open for 6 days, all was super-smooth. Had a peak in the beer garden too, which looks surprisingly big. Lots of slate everywhere, from local Honister mine. I can see this becoming my new local to meet friends for dinner or after a local walk - let the summer begin!

Absolutely beautiful pub and garden with very welcoming staff. Its only been open for a week however feels as if its never closed. The best pub food me and my family have had in a long time. Apparantly the two chef's are only 21!! Credit to them. Highly recommend visiting this special Lake District gem.

The best fried chicken I've had in years!
A beautiful place with a fantastic beer garden by the river, and dog friendly.

We were told that they'd only just reopened and started serving food, but you'd have thought they'd been doing it for years. 100% recommend.

Park in the National Trust car park and walk up.

This place is an absolute gem. Such a vibe in Seatoller and good to feel the buzz of a new business but at the same time one that feels like it’s been here for centuries. Holly is so welcoming at the bar and the food is fantastic - subtle tweaks on classic pub food and then some. Chef Toby knows his stuff. Oh and the garden is beautiful! Heartedly recommend a visit to anyone venturing up the valley or to those who fancy a drive out for something special. Will definitely be back. Well done all involved in reopening this pub.

Visited the Yew Tree Multiple times and never disappointed. The food is amazing, staff are friendly and attentive and the beer garden is unreal especially on a warm summers night. Will be frequenting it often!

An incredibly warm welcome from the first phone call, I can’t recommend The Yew Tree and their team enough. The food was fantastic and the prices very reasonable - if anything I would have expected to pay more. We had well travelled friends visiting from the US who are both ‘foodies’ with very high standards and they said the Herdwick lamb kofta burger was the best they have ever tasted. Part of me wants to keep this place a secret as we are coming back in the Summer - but most of me just wants it to get the success it deserves. I suspect by that point we will need to book in advance!
PS - for anyone with allergies I can honestly say they were very clued up

When walking in the first time, seeing the tap selection, reading the food and cocktail menus, you could tell the people who work there and run it are passionate, have taste and also likely knew what they were doing.

The feel of it is a cosy and trendy inn akin to what you'd be lucky to find in the big cities, except it's located in a small settlement pretty much in the middle of nowhere.

After ordering everything throughout the week from the food and cocktail menu, first impressions were proven right. Unlike the gastro pubs in the big cities nowadays, there was substance and the barmaid and chefs actually know how to mix, cook and serve.

Highly recommended.

The staff at the Yew tree were friendly, helpful and attentive. The food is of a high standard and great to see local produce being used. I highly recommend the beer garden and it's amazing views. The pub itself is cosy and full of Cumbrian history.
