This is very nice big residence. The castle has a lot of nice paintings, a grand hall and dining room. This place had a beautiful and large and well organised garden.
There is also a nice big playground and a big wilderness trail for the kids to follow with fun story boards along the way.
There is also a nice gift shop and café. We arrived a little too late for the Toy Museum which will give us a reason to come back another time.

Beautiful historic house and gardens. Helpful staff and pamphlets for each room. The staff in each area were friendly and knowledgeable. The formal gardens were beautiful and well presented. As in a lot of places the Box hedges have been attacked by the box moth catapillers. Thou seem to be under control.

Beautiful grounds, storied past, well maintained and restored, eclectic connections, worth a visit and a wander. Bring a blanket and a picnic and enjoy the park and many gardens!

Wonderful day visiting with two young children. Adventure play area is spacious and surrounded by lovely green countryside. Gardens impressive and immaculate. House fascinating and full of history. Crafts room and toy museum added extra interest for the children, and all staff were very friendly. Cafe extremely reasonably priced - my only suggestion would be to include an item of fruit in the children's lunchboxes (would happily pay more for this). Will definitely visit again.

Had a great day here, magnificent house full of history & where Wolf Hall was filmed, the garden is very interesting made of separate 'rooms' and well maintained, guides very helpful, & the toy museum is a delight.

Absolutely loved our day here. Stunning manicured gardens, incredibly interesting house and the room guides are so pleasant and engaging. There is a very sweet toy museum which is wonderfully nostalgic. The gift shop is the best one I have been into in a historic house. They have gorgeous garden ornaments and plant stands outside and a big selection of gifts, toys and home accessories inside. The cafe is good and we had a tasty snack. One of the best days out you could have if you love history and gardens.

Wonderful place to spend a few hours.
I came here to see the barons hall because it was used in my favorite movie. It was great standing in it, but walking round the rest of the house and gardens was a treat too.
I liked the information sheets available in every room, and the staff were friendly and happy to answer any further questions I had.
The gardens are beautiful and there's a surprise round every corner.
Lunch at the cafe was nice, but the tuna salad could have done with a bit more salad leaves.
I will definitely be back

The sort of place you want to give 6 stars to. Wonderful buildings, beautiful gardens, a really good children's play area, an excellent cafe and shop - and overall with a great child-friendly and cheerful feeling. Congratulations to all involved.

A fantastic historic house and gardens with lots to see and do for all the family.

The house itself is absolutely beautiful. My children were excited to see somewhere Henry VIII actually stayed and the link with Harry Potter and we loved seeing where Wolf Hall had been filmed.

The gardens are absolutely beautiful. There’s a large adventure playground, a good coffee shop and the Toy Museum. There was also free crafting and a fantastic falcon display by Joe’s Bows. Entry for a family of four was £36.

A nice place to visit, £14 is the entry fee to see the house, grounds, toy museum, garden, and children's playground. Complete with a toilet, free car park and a cafe. Also includes a gift shop. There was lots to see. There is a church nearby that you can go through to walk round the land round the place if you don't want to pay to see the house. Altogether, an enjoyable experience.

Absolutely stunning place! You're surrounded in history and beautiful scenery, it's hard to take everything in. We spent nearly 4 hours here without even knowing it. We highly recommend this!

Great house and garden to visit. It’s independent property, therefore, you will have to pay every time to visit the property. The collection in the house are interesting and the hall has the original roof dated back in 14 century. We had lunch and coffee and cakes there. All nice apart from the cakes were a bit dry. There is farmer’s market on Saturday until 12pm. Free parking.

Lovely grounds and gardens. Great for Autumn colours. There is a lovely walk heading away from the parking up the hill and into the Eden Valley and river, you can take a circular walk back into and around the grounds too. The cafe is well set out with indoor and outdoor seating. Very clean and tidy, but gets very busy at times. Toilets at the cafe too.

A stunning place to touch history. A beautiful, simply huge garden, a toy museum and a hall of knightly armor. It's a pity you can't see the whole castle, because the rest is inaccessible. There is also a children's play complex. An ideal place to spend time with the whole family.

Excellent day out at Penshurst place. Cafe is very good and sells basic sandwiches and baguettes which is a great benefit if you have dietary challenges. House and gardens are awesome!

Just exactly what I expected an English Country Manor to be.
