Josh showed expertise, charisma and a genuine interest in our songs. We worked at a pace that suited us and all left the studio fully satisfied! We’ll definitely be going back to record more music and I recommend Forge to anyone wanting a professional and exciting final product!

Josh was fantastic throughout a full day of recording. With setting up a great drum sound (we were only recording drums) and layering drums on to the two tracks we recorded. He provided a lovely relaxed environment and excellent technical skills.

Recording at Forge studios was a real pleasure. Josh was very calm and relaxed with setting everything up in a way that meant all the musicians had everything they needed to get the sound and performance we were all after. The space is compact but we comfortably got the four of us in the live room. Really happy with the results and look forward to returning to mix the track. I spent a day at Forge studios with my band, taking some live recordings for a promo reel. I usually find studio recording stressful and draining, but couldn't have had a better experience here. Josh has created a really calm and comfortable atmosphere, and is super easy to work with while also being efficient and consistently on-the-ball.

He also did a great job of giving confident musical feedback when we needed it, while also recognizing when we didn't - I think his experience as a musician really showed, and I felt confident that I was in safe hands.

The actual recording space seemed a little small at first, but with a kit drummer, upright bassist, keyboard player and trombonist it felt pleasantly intimate without being at all cramped. I really dug being able to adjust my monitor mix through a phone app.

I don't have the recording experience/ears to give a really critical appraisal of the stems we took home at the end of the day, but I was certainly happy with how they sounded, as were my bandmates. I think the fee we paid was also very reasonable. I'm absolutely certain that if we need to do more recordings in the future, Josh will be our first port of call. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

We recently had a couple of days recording with Josh and had a brilliant experience. Josh is not only a great producer but also a top musician. His experience in both of these areas meant he was able to put the band at ease in order to get the best performance out of everyone, as well as helping interject his own ideas about how the recording could be improved. Overall, his love of music means he is just as passionate about getting a great recording as the artists, and I would highly recommend for anyone looking to record!

Josh Rigal has created a brilliant professional recording studio. First of all, atmosphere: Forge Studios provides a relaxed but professional atmosphere; the space is intimate, cozy, and clean. Secondly, equipment: Josh has invested in top gear. Third, music output: Josh possesses a wonderfully musical ear and sensibility, and seems to appreciate all styles. Fourth, and possibly most importantly, attitude and working style: as a producer/engineer, Josh is adept at providing that sweet spot of hearing what a song needs, communicating it clearly, and eliciting that from the performers. Finally, as a drummer, I appreciate that he had a good in-house drumkit, and he knows how to make it sound superb! :)

Josh gets a great sound, very quickly, and you soon realise you are in safe hands. When issues arise during the recording process, he is able to offer several solutions and help the band find the right way forward. He has a great balance of musicality and technical know-how. Highly recommended.
