I've been purchasing tools from David Hunt Tools, since they started at ? Green, near Reading, I believe in the early '60s.
My first purchase was sets of Elora open end and ring spanners in Whitworth BSW and BSF sizes, followed shortly after by a set of Elora BSW/BSF sockets, the only problem was the 1/2" ratchet wrench which broke in the mid 2000s, purely due to the fact that I abused it, trying to use as a hammer and broke the ratchet lever off. Much to my surprise I was able to buy a repair kit for under a tenner, and still occasionally use the spanners and socket set when I come across BSW/F nut/bolt heads rather than AF or Metric.
I can only recommend this supplier very highly, and recommend them - not always the cheapest, but they've kept me supplied and happy for at least 60 years.

ignore halfords, homebase, all the big internet chains, these guys know what they're talking about. I came in to get a specific drill bit to drill out an M8 stud, they were friendly enough to talk about why i was in, then actually recommended one even more appropriately sized and knew exactly why it was that size and what it was for.
In the modern world of internet sites, and big chain stores, this kind of expertise, customer service, and stock on the shelf is actually very rare. They got me out of a fix. Apart from that it's an aladdins cave, and anyone who fixes their own car, could easily spend thousands in there.

Highly recommended . Couldn't have been more helpful to find a battery charger for our grease gun even took one out of a brand new drill box and sell to me. Fantastic and great to have a chat with. Thanks gentlemen excellent

An Independent tool store that is a bit of an Aladdin’s cave for any tool user with a huge range of tools, tool boxes and tool totes etc... even come accross some real unique niche tools that i have only ever previously seen in my Grandfathers shed.

Can be a little more pricey than the chain stores for some items but that’s to be expected for an independent, however the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and have gone out of their way to help me out on several occasions which you do not get from the chain stores.

This shop stocked a tool that I could not find anywhere else in the Thames Valley, they deserve 4 stars for that alone, but the service and friendly guidance is also great. If you use a chain DIY store while this independent exists, then you seriously need to question your judgement.

Simply the best place for tools. Friendly knowledgeable staff who don't try to pressure you into buying stuff. Happy to recommend.

Basically you end up with a load of junk if you go to Homebase et al, you need someone who can explain what you need and get the right tool not 1000 useless ones. It saves you a fortune and makes it much easier to get a job done and a lot of heartbreak.
