An amazing piece of architectural marvel at the hill of pavagadh.
Completely made out of bricks, this structure is an important heritage site of India. A great find by the archaeological department.

It is maintained and kept well. Although you can directly spot it from the main road. You need to enter the google location and drive slowly when you are closer to the location to locate the place.

A simple stepwell in the vicinity of Pavagadh Hills. A simple but beautiful structure

A 16th century well, with a spiral staircase. A very nice picnic spot, the vav is surrounded with lovely garden. Entry inside the well was not allowed. No entry ticket once can just walk, which visiting Pavagadh.

A wonderful place to visit while in the area of Pavagarh / Champaner!
Highest water level can be seen on side wall!

World heritage site. Located at the outskirts of Champaner district of Gujarat, the Helical Step Well was constructed in the 16th century. It would have provided water to the locals and to casual travellers who crossed the area. The step well does not serve water any more as the ground water levels have gone down considerably below the water table. The step well is undergoing redevelopment to help maintain its credibility as a world heritage site. The maintenance and development of the area is under the Gujarat government, in association with the local municipality. A plan has been put in place by the government to ensure that this place is revived as it was in the ancient times.

The helical step well provided water and the place had a bunch of shady trees lined around the well encircling the step till the wide area of the long entrance on both sides. The well is in close vicinity of the Ek Minar Mosque and people visiting the mosque came here to quench their thirst. The Champaner Fort also gives a nice top view

Its world heritage site very less known

It's a great place to seat and relax. You can't go inside of step well.

Really cool site, rather tricky to find as the sign isn't obvious, especially if you're driving from the other side of the road.

It's the place for the people who are seeking a quite and serene place. You will love to sit there for a while and would want to spend the whole day if you had the time. If you're a tourist and just want to visit it, it won't take more than 15 minutes.

This vav is also also part of Champaner Paavagarh Architeological Site. It's architecture is different from rest of vav. No entery ticket for vav, campus is maintained and beautiful.

You can tell just by peeking into the stepwell, it is combination of super hard work, great vision and best workers of the time. It is very deep and stairs go till the bottom. Very slippery in Monsoon. Recommended in summer as there will be less water. Very well maintained by ASI.

A pretty small place. But it was closed

Archaeological park was the last destination in Gujrat of our tour. We were enjoying the World Heritage site very much as February 2019 was the perfect time. As it was the second capital of Gujarat Sultanate. Sultan Mahmud Begda shifted his capital from Ahmadabad. Due to various attacks it was deserted and still it's almost deserted. It has many World class monument and Helical Step-well was one attraction.

It's a very unique monument situated in Pavagadh Archaeological Park was built in 15th century. Main entrance is leading via about 1.2 meters wide steps to the central shaft having stone steps and it seems as snack sitting in the coil form. Having a unique, prominent and repuated architectural classification of steps as spiral, linear and composite. Tourists they admire this Architecture and they enjoy the monument of that period. This is a 15th century's monument. It is built by moulded bricks and easily accessible. Chiefly it was built to conserve the rain water. Still this monument is in very good shape. Having a one meter parapet at ground for the safety.

It attracts the tourists of all nature may be history buffs wanderers soulseekers art and architecture lovers.
