A great piece of history that is neglected. The monument itself is great with surroundings kept clean. There is no guide to tourists as to how to navigate this piece of history as it is spread over many kilometres

this place is an architectural marvel which is lesser known and much ignored. aprox 50 km from Baroda, this abandoned monument is situated at the foot hills of Pavagad. Its a UNESCO world heritage site and ASI protected.
Like many other historic places in India, Champaner too, is blessed with HIndu-Jain-islamic trio of cultural heritage. This Jami Masjid is stone carved with beautiful minarets, jarokhas and pillors. Very intricate jali work on stone can be noticed here.
spare at least 2-3 hours to admire this place. its clean and maintained like any other heritage site in India. Not much people visit this place so u find a peaceful vibe her (most crowd is diverted to visit Pavagarh only). ticket is nominal 40/-.
out of 39 scattered sites marked by UNESCO in champaner, Jami Masjid and step well is most attractive. the whole city was excavated and some remains r still buried from time immemorial.

it is beautiful well maintained, certainly worth visiting. This place is situated in foothills of Pavagarh, about 70km from Vadodara.

All archeological sites in Champaner are very good and photografer's delight.

when I visited it happened to be musical program organised by Art and Craft and Gujarat Tourism. This place had come to life and it became a memorable visit.

The entry fee to archeological sites is about 50 for Indian citizens.

It’s a 15th century, mosque and very well maintained by the ASI. Perhaps the best preserved mosque in entire Gujarat. The minarets are very tall and the jali art is superb. The best fusion of Indo Islamic art. Expect to spend at least half hour at this place as it makes a good photo stop and is relatively crowd free.

It's a UNESCO World Heritage site. It's a very intricately constructed mosque. The scale and detailing is impressive. It has a nice garden around and one can spend easily hours looking at each carved stone section and jaali. There are a group of mosques which are near by, most of them can be covered by foot during pleasant season. You can use the same ticket for other heritage structures in the surroundings.

Monsoon season has to be my favourite season to visit this Archeological site. Do bear in mind to carry cash with you as the network reception is quite bad here so you might face difficulties making UPI transactions to book tickets.

Jami Masjid is located in champaner architecture Park. This Mosque was built on 1513 , construction was carried out over 25 years. It is one of the most notable monuments built by sultan Muhammad begada. The architecture is said to have drawn from the architecture of the sultanate which is a blend of jain, Hindu and Muslim ethos. The large domes are indicative of such a mix.

The building is two storied and plan is similar to sidi saiyeed Mosque In Ahmedabad. Multiple prayer halls are separated by almost 200 pillars . The main prayer hall has 11 domes . The rulers prayer hall is separated from the main area by jallis. There is a double clerestory in one of the domes.
