This is a wonderful Homestay, great for serenity and to enjoy nature and birds. The food is delicious, home cooked and reminds me of my ammachi’s home. Joe is a remarkable host, always ready to chat and help make decisions on what to see and do. His sons are a delight! The only slight downside is it’s a bit far out so all transport has to be arranged. Nonetheless highly recommended.

Stayed here for 1 night travelling from Kochi to Madurai. We were greeted with a refreshing cup of tea. The views of the mountain and forest are breathtaking and we're fortunate to see a blood moon. Dinner and breakfast were delicate and delicious. Great consideration was given to the decor and presentation which created a calm relaxing ambience.

We both agreed this was the best place we stayed at during our trip to India so far. The features of a boutique hotel-quality homestay, but in a serene and peaceful oasis, with the owners never having lost touch with the essence of homestays: welcoming, friendly and warm, everyone in the family was always happy to chat to us and get to know us, even Joe’s lovely children. The homecooked Keralan meals were the best dishes we have had and you can really tell just how good this homestay is for supporting the local community, traders, artists and guides, whilst also staying eco-friendly. Nothing was ever too much to ask, always giving good tips, with the possibility of organizing jeeps, treks or massages. Mind, its a little far from Munnar proper, but you are rewarded with beautiful scenery. We will 100% be back, if I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Thank you to Joe and his family

Very sweet family welcoming you and making delicious food for you. On top of that you get a stunning view of the mountains and jungle, don’t miss the sunrise!
It’s about a 30-min drive from Munnar if you’d like to see tea plantations

We had the the pleasure of staying at Mistletoe Homestay for 3 nights and we couldn’t have been happier to have found this beautiful and peaceful idyll.

Joe is the perfect host, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were looked after. Greeted with Masala chai and the best masala cookies (I didn’t even know these existed but I found my heaven!), we were shown to our spacious room, overlooking the stunning landscape of rolling green hills, buzzing with birdsong.

Over the next 3 days, Joe helped guide us on how best to spend our time and explore Munnar by foot, as we had primarily come to Munnar to trek through the tea plantations and hike up some surrounding hills.
Everything was organised with such ease which made for a wonderful time in Munnar.

I must also share my gratitude for the delicious food we were served from breakfast, to lunchtime snacks and home cooked dinner, the selection of choice is just right and every single thing we chose was a taste sensation - definitely some of our favourite meals whilst being in India.

Thank you to Joe and his family for a part of our trip we will be sure to treasure, with memories to cherish forever.

What a wonderful homestay! Very welcoming; very helpful and accomodating owners; good quality food; good ambience; comfortable and clean rooms; a family feel to the place; beautiful views from the room balcony.
The owner Joe could not have been more helpful and accommodating; our auto-rickshaw broke down on the way back from Munnar one evening (it was late, after a cooking class) and Joe drove out to pick us up and make sure we got home safely - that was really exceptional!
We were also able to make all the activity bookings we needed and exchange money at the homestay.

We loved our stay in Mistletoe Homestay in Munnar. Joe and his family are very kind hosts, the atmosphere in their home is pleasant and peaceful. Location is a bit further away from the main town of Munnar, although I consider that a plus, since it is quieter and more beautiful. The accomodation itself is clean and the room we stayed in was comfortable, it has a balcony with lovely view over mountains. Another highlight is delicious food and variety available. Joe was very helpful throughtout our stay, gave us travelling tips and helped us arrange activities in Munnar which made our trip all that more effortless. Thank you very much and wish you all the best. Gabriela & Matej

My brother and I were on our way to our family home and decided to take a break at Munnar. Joe is a fantastic host and his boys are his charming helpers. The room was clean and cozy, our meals(dinner and an early breakfast) were tasty and exactly what we asked for. I would highly recommend this an ideal place for a vacation. The views and the birds I got to see from the balcony were a real plus.

We (Family) stayed in Mistletoe homestay for 3 nights. It was a wonderful and peaceful stay. Mr. Joe the owner was very kind, approachable and catered to all our requirements. Rooms are good and spacious ( My daughter loved the bunk bed 😀). Home cooked food was amazing, especially the breakfast. The view was amazing. Highly recommended if you are in Munnar.

This is the second time we went to this place, which tells the charm of this place. It is very quiet little homestay with amazing view from the balcony. The place hardly offers anything other than the view (unlike Resorts) but that view and the serenity of that place is something which can keep you glued for days. Food and the hospitality offered there is something which makes the word "homestay" totally apt. You feel like home very soon and want to live there like your own home.
People coming here have to keep in mind that it is run by a family completely and they host you like a family. Which is great for some, but if you are looking for ring a bell service and some fancy comfort then this is not the place. It is a place, where you want to just sit watch cloud engulfed mountains, listen to the music of nature, enjoy amazing food and conversation.
Joe and the family, you are doing an exceptional job of creating a place which creates memories. Would love to come back again !

*One thing to note that this place is a bit far from the city centre, which is good and bad depending on the perspective. :)

I stayed at Mistletoe Homestay for four nights as a solo female traveller. Choosing mistletoe Homestay was the best decision I made for my trip in Kerala and it is one of the best places I have ever stayed in. I had picked up a stomach bug in Mumbai and was quite unwell while at mistletoe. This was not an issue as Joe took the most amazing care of me. He assisted me in seeing a doctor and made sure I was fed and comfortable for my entire stay. I cannot thank him enough. You will not regret staying at mistletoe. I can’t wait to visit again!

My sister and I stayed at Mistletoe for three nights. We loved it! We felt it felt personal to stay there, which is different from most AirBnBs/hotels I’ve stayed at.

First of all the view from our room was amazing! We got to sit on the balcony, talk and just enjoy the view.

Joe and his young sons were hospitable and helpful. Joe helped us arrange auto rides to a few things we wanted to see - tea fields, Erivakalum National Park, waterfalls, and a spice farm, etc. He was able to help us decide which waterfalls and other things to visit would be best.

The food was amazing and flavorful. We mostly tried Kerala dishes. Breakfast is included and lunch and dinner are affordably priced, especially for the portion and taste. I loved the breakfast because we were given a lot of fresh fruit, a baked good of some kind and also Indian breakfast or an omelet. It was all delicious and a fun change from my normal eggs and toast.

Also he happened to be going into town so he gave us a ride after we checked out. He helped us figure out which bus to take to Kochi. We felt he went above and beyond. We would love to stay at Mistletoe again :)

We had a really great stay at Mistletoe thanks to Joe and his family. It is a beautiful place with incredible views throughout the property. The room was really lovely with a private balcony. We ate at Mistletoe every night and the food was delicious as are the breakfasts and it was all great value. Joe was very helpful and suggested and organised activities for us which was great. It is about 40 mins from Munnar but that was not a problem, would highly recommend.

This sweet home is located on the highway which is in itself a huge convenience avoiding us the hassle of going uphill or having a trouble connecting. It is in a hit and miss hideout right at the curve where we ourselves once happen to miss it once while coming back. But that's what is the beauty of this place is.. Big hearted yet not loud!
It was a lovely experience with them and it absolutely felt like home with so much help around. Joe is a great host and so are his wonderful, impeccably mannered sons.
Rooms are just perfect for a family of 4. Kids enjoyed playing around and trust that a lot goes in to maintain the hygiene and cleanliness of the place. Super dedicated hosts ! They would be just curiously waiting for us to get up so that they can serve us breakfast in a jiffy! The hospitality industry needs more of such wonderful people. Please don't miss the safari arranged by them. Jinesh, the jeep guy is too good to be true! Munnar at its best with Mistletoe! Thank you so much Joe and your family. My kids are so fond of you now..

Amazing location (but not close to town), staff and views.

Rooms don't have TVs, which was the only negative.

It is a beautiful premium property tastefully decorated with knick knacks, lovely paintings and thick flowering plants. The view of the mountains from the room is breathtaking. Food is exceptionally good- fresh, homemade and flavourful. We stayed in a family suite with our family of 4. Mr. Johnson, the owner of the property takes personal interest in ensuring that the customer is satisfied on all grounds. Highly recommended place.

Our stay was simply amazing. Two things to call out: the amazing host and his family who go above and beyond to make you feel at home and take care of you when needed - and the delicious food!
The rooms are clean, spacious and homely with comfy beds. Maybe not the cheapest homestay out there but definitely one of the best we've ever stayed in.

The place is really homey, clean and welcoming. The food was amazing, including a pizza night with our own choice of toppings. Joe is a warm and generous host and the kids already miss him. His whole family made us feel at home. If you stay in the area, don’t miss this place.

Stayed for 4 nights at Mistletoe. The host's friendly family welcomed us. The food was delicious. The breakfast was different on each of the days. The choice of food for lunch and dinner was good. We wanted to try the local delicacies and each one of them turned out good.

Joe even accommodated a last minute request for lunch as we were late and couldn't find a restaurant nearby.

The view from the balcony was breathtaking and it was different at different times.

Overall, the stay was awesome and this place is highly recommended.
