My wife fell and split her lip wide open. The nurses, especially Ricardo were extremely helpful. Dr. Giuseppe Bartolotta placed 6 sutures to close the wound. I am a dentist myself and I thought the entire staff did a wonderful job. We are forever grateful

In April 2023, I fell and broke my neck. I was taken by ambulance to this hospital where I was wheeled into a room with 8 or 9 other people — the triage room — which is just an open room with no partitions or curtains. Even though my injury was obviously serious, I was just left there in a corner of the room. Finally, after waiting for more than 4 1/2 hours by the clock on the wall, I called out in my limited Italian “I have extreme pain, please help me”, and asked if anyone spoke English. Someone came over and hooked up a drip. No one spoke English. I was wheeled in to be scanned, then put back in the room. No one showed concern for the comfort of the people in the room. Many were crying. I was never even offered water. A lot of the staff were yelling, and many seemed angry. I had no idea who the people were that came in and out of the room. There weren’t any recognisable uniforms. I assume at least one of them was a doctor, but I couldn’t understand what they were saying. At one point a woman came over and placed an adult diaper on my bed. A man came to my bed with a wheelchair and motioned for me to get into it. Only after it was obvious that I couldn’t mange to do that on my own, another man was called over and they manoeuvred me into the chair. It was extremely painful. They didn’t put the footrests down, so I had to hold my feet up. I was in pain for the entire 21 hours that I was in the hospital. Whatever painkiller I was given did not work. At some point another man came over and spoke to me in Italian. He ended by pointing to my neck and saying, “Not important!” When I was finally released I had a “consultation” with a doctor who spoke directly to a man who then tried to translate what she said via an app on his phone. Most of it made no sense. I did understand that I was to wear the hard cervical collar for 6 weeks. That is all I was told. I asked for a prescription for “strong pain” and was given one for 600mg ibuprofen. I was flown back to Australia by my insurance company. After 5 weeks, I began to experience extreme pain in my left arm. I was given a CT scan and it showed that my vertebrae had been shattered. There were loose bone fragments and a part of my vertebrae was misaligned and barely two millimeters from my spinal cord. I had spinal surgery two days later. My experience with San Vincenzo hospital was the worst experience of my life. If you have a choice, go to Catania. If you don’t have a choice and are taken to San Vincenzo, get out of there and go to another hospital as soon as possible.

Just avoid! 2 H driving to another city will be even faster than waiting for this place. Waiting time is min +6 hours.

Not a good hospital at all.

My family member had a stroke and they had him sitting in the ER unseen for over an hour.

This place, if it were in the US, would be getting hit with lawsuits left and right.

These people are morons. I'm not kidding.

Avoid.

Careful! do NOT come here. My father was waiting in the emergency room for 7 hours with 2 bleeding wounds. At one point he was sitting in a puddle of his own blood. When he asked for water they were not able to give it to him and told him he could get it in the second floor, which was not accessible for because he was in a wheelchair. Avoid coming here if you can.

Pessima esperienza.

Salute a tutti

Pessima esperienza. Terzo mondo.

Cambiate mestiere
