Villa Matilde Amalfi

Esperienza a dir poco ECCEZIONALE! La Villa è situata in un punto mozzafiato, infatti è possibile ammirare un panorama fantastico! Luigi, il propietario, è sempre a tua completa disposizione per qualsiasi domanda. In Villa c'è tutto l'occorrente per soggiornare al meglio. Ritorneremo sicuramente!!

Danke für alles Luigi. Wunderebare Unterkunft nicht weil entfernt von Amalfi Stadt. Tolle Aussicht. Die Wohnung war blitze blank sauber. Leider nicht für Rollstuhlfahrer geeignet, man muss doch knapp 100 Stufen zur Unterkunft überwinden. Aber das ist so an der Amalfi Küste. Am Bad kann man maximal die kleine Dusche kritisieren. Aber ich mit 110kg hatte keine Probleme mit der Dusche. Es ist ein Standard Bad in Italien.

Ich extrem kritisch bzgl. Sauberkeit, hier gab es aber nichts zu kritisieren. Alles sauber. Klimaanlage funktioniert einwandfrei. Toller Ausblick der nur ein wenig durch ein Haus eingeschränkt wird. Aber gut wie oft hält man sich am Balkon auf. Ein Grillplatz ist auch vorhanden. Klare Empfehlung. Parkplatz vorhanden

Abbiamo deciso di regalarci all'ultimo minuto un weekend in costiera amalfitana e gli host, Roberto e luigi, si sono resi sin da subito disponibili. La struttura è dotata di ogni confort, possibilità di parcheggio senza vincoli, punto strategico per girare nel breve e nel lungo periodo di soggiorno. Non solo torneremo sicuramente per rivedere nuovamente lo splendido panorama che si presenta dalle camere, ma soprattutto lo consigliamo vivamente sia per l'ospitalità che per la disponibilità e cortesia che cia hanno riservato.

Bellissimo appartamento, molto pulito. Siamo stati accolti come fossimo di famiglia. Il panorama dell'appartamento e mozzafiato !

Beware - Not just a terrible apartment and misleading description, but you may get sued!

First, the conclusion:
1) We left the apartment half way through our planned stay for a much better accommodation at almost half the nightly price.
2) After I complained about the accommodations and told the owner that I thought the advertising for the apartment was extremely misleading, he said "the price is the price" and then threatened to "sue me for slander."

I have no desire or need to lie about (slander) the owner. I will only describe the apartment from our perspective relative to how it was advertised.

I am providing the below so that others who spend their hard earned savings and limited free time do not feel cheated. Perhaps there are some that will read the below and still choose to stay in this apartment.

The facts:
1. The apartment cost us $3,700 for 8 nights; this, in itself, set certain expectations.
2. When we first arrived, the owner claimed that we still owed him several hundred dollars which we needed to pay "in cash." We booked on booking.com and paid in full ahead of time. Why would the owner claim that we still owed him money? Why did we need to pay him in cash?
3. The pictures off the balcony and from the "garden" are taken from approximately waist level, which eliminates seeing the very large building that blocks much of the view of the sea. The building blocking the view is poorly maintained and dilapidated. You can see pictures on Google Maps.
3. The owner claims that the apartment has A/C. The A/C is only in one of the rooms and if you want both bedrooms to be cooled, you need to keep the door between the two bedrooms completely open. This means there is no privacy. Additionally, the room with the AC becomes cold while the other bedroom is barely cool.
4. In order to get to the bathroom from the room with the large bed, you need to go through the bedroom with the two beds. This is very inconvenient if you have children.
5. The refrigerator does not have a freezer - so no ice cream or ice.
6. The hot water randomly shuts off when you are taking a warm shower.
7. The shower is miniscule; barely enough for a small child. I am tall and was completely unable to wash myself without banging every part of my body. The shower did not have a single shelf for soap or toiletries because there is no room for it.
8. The washing machine is tiny. For a family of four, sweating daily in the Italian summer, you will need to do 2-3 loads per day.
9. There is no dryer! You need to hang your wet clothes on the clothesline after you wash them. "Rustic" does not begin to describe it. This was a shock. The owner will argue that he never said that there was a dryer and this is true; there are certain things you just assume these days because we live in the 21st century and pay close to $4k per week. Also - there are stink-bugs and one got stuck on my shirt, stinking up the bedroom for half a day.
10. Ants - We understand there will be random ants when you leave food on the ground, but in this apartment, there were ants climbing the kitchen walls, across the floor and in the bathroom.
11. Smell - The kitchen smelled terribly. At first we thought it was rotten garlic in the kitchen, but the smell did not go away even after we threw it out.
12. Mold? - There is black stuff on the ledges and in the corners that looks disgusting. Perhaps this is related to the smell - I don't know what it is.
13. There is one kitchen/living room with almost no natural light and an old couch with a slip cover. We never sat there.
14. Safe - There is a tiny safe, but the safe is not secured to anything, so you can simply grab it and walk away!
15. Towels - The owner initially provided four hand towels and four tiny (18" X 25"?) "bath" towels that were paper thin and many years old. I would not have used these as rags to work on my car.
16. Toiletries - The owner claims to provide toiletries. These are 2-3 bottles of half full shower gel; one of which can be useful as both a shower gel and a shampoo.

Now you know and can make your own decision.

I cancelled one month in advance yet it was apparently one hour past their cancellation deadline. Was charged $485. I immediately messaged, emailed, and called to either ask for reimbursement or to rebook the room. Never got a response except one initial “we will check into your situation.” This was during a pandemic mind you. Even after weeks of trying to reach someone, I was never even offered a credit. And I couldn’t rebook myself because they were completely full. Just Never got a response or even a no.

Son mentirosos con las fotos!! La vista no es así. La terraza no tiene ni plantas y está todo sucio. Tienen un solo aire acondicionado para todo el espacio. Es de difícil acceso si vas con valijas y el auto lo dejas a 2 cuadras. El dueño muy agreta y mal educado, nos tuvimos que ir reclamando que nos devuelvan por booking la plata, que por suerte lo hicieron. No recomiendo ir y si pudiera le pondría -5 estrellas.
