Hotel california Positano

Out of our three month trip around Europe, this hotel was by far the biggest stand out. The staff made us feel right at home. It was the most wonderful experience from start to finish. Beautiful views, close enough to the beach and not too many steps. Would love to come back again and stay longer.

My husband and I LOVED staying at Hotel California in Positano for our honeymoon. We traveled there from Sorrento by bus and it was easy to find. The room had stunning views and the hotel staff were kind enough to help us carry our bags up a couple flights of stairs. We were a quick walk to the beach and surrounded by delicious restaurants. Hotel staff went above and beyond to help us with all our needs, even helping us through their laundry service. Also, we ate at the hotel restaurant one night and it was fantastic. We would love to revisit!!

My wife and I loved our stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and always helpful. The location was convenient and offered a great view. Anna and Bianca at the front desk went out of their way to help us with suggestions and transportation bookings. Highly recommend this hotel and would certainly stay there again if returning to Positano.

We spent 4 beautiful nights at this hotel for the beginning of our honeymoon & from the time of booking, the Albergo family was so helpful in answering all questions regarding our room and location of the hotel. The entire staff was so kind and courteous, from offering to make restaurant reservations for us to arranging transportation. Anna and Bianca were always so sweet, and definitely made our stay memorable! Our room was everything we could have imagined and more, with an amazing and huge private terrace to ourselves and the room itself was very large. It is right next to the road, but I didn’t find it noisy at all during our stay. Prime location for views, not too close to the beach/ferry port but within a reasonable walking distance. Super close to all shops and restaurants!

Breakfast was included & I will be dreaming of those chocolate croissants for a lifetime. If we are ever back in Positano, we will be staying with the Hotel California family once again :)

Hotel California Positano provides excellent hospitality, location, and accommodation. Every staff member was available to cater to our needs, showing remarkable professionalism and friendliness. The hotel is located perfectly within the city's heart, making it a convenient base for exploring the vibrant local life and surrounding areas. The on-site restaurant served an array of delicious meals and drinks, overlooking the sea of Positano. Our room was a haven of comfort, offering pristine cleanliness and a breathtaking view of Positano. The exceptional service and warm ambience left a lasting impression, making our stay at the Hotel California Positano nothing short of extraordinary. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking an unforgettable stay in Positano.

We loved staying at Hotel California. This hotel was an amazing find in Positano -- the price was very reasonable, and the location was great. We were upgraded for free to a very large room with a private terrace, which had a beautiful view of Positano. The shower was also very large and had great water pressure. The only downside is that the room with terrace is right next to the restaurant so there's a bit of noise. The air conditioning worked really well, and the room was very clean. The furnishings are a little dated, but we didn't mind this. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, and greeted us with a welcome drink upon arrival. The breakfast was also very good. We would definitely stay here again if we returned to Positano.

From the time of arrival to our point of departure we were treated wonderfully at the well situated and quaint Albergo California. John, the owner, personally greeted us in the warmest way and we were led up to our room with a view for the ages. The room was quite spacious and looked to be recently renovated. We found the location of the hotel to be ideal as well as it was in the center of life in Positano but quite close to various land connections. Ferry connections were about a 10 minute walk and involved stairs.

Each morning we had an enjoyable breakfast on the portico, again with an excellent view. The entire staff was exceedingly pleasant providing good recommendations for restaurants and activities, while always available for an engaging conversation that enhanced our stay. Upon our departure John pointed out that a room and balcony view from the hotel was used in a well acclaimed film about Italy. We were not surprised.

As you ponder where to stay in Positano also consider that the Albergo California, in addition to being a great experience, is a relative bargain compared to other hotels we considered.

This was an exceptional hotel. It felt more like a four-star hotel. It had the same views as the five star hotels around it. The bathrooms had been recently remodeled, and were very nice. The service was outstanding, and everyone was so friendly. It’s not too high up so it’s a short walk to the water and all the shops toward the bottom of the hill. I couldn’t recommend it more.

Stumbled across this amazing gem in Positano.
Location: 10/10 easy to get to the beach, the cutest shops, the best restaurants, and the bus! I cant imagine staying any higher .. or too close to the beach! Of course Positano is steep so you do have to be able to climb a bit.
The room: beautiful and renovated. Aircon controlled, lots of room. Perfect. If youre lucky enough, the terrace is a dream. Don't need to leave your room for all the vibes. LUXURY

The staff: the best people we've met on our trip..!! The owners greeted my husband and i like we were returning guests theyve met before. Hospitality was amazing. I actually miss seeing their lovely faces. Ugh please treat them with all the care, they deserve it! Hard working people and family.

The restaurant: please eat here! The view alone is breathtaking. Make a reso and youll get seated right up front . Servers could be a little more attentive but youll be distracted by the view.
Also breakfast was great, included every morning. Very worth!

We stayed at the end of October. Fantastic views, large bright rooms with a stunning view and a fantastic location, close to beach, restaurants and shops.

We loved this hotel, extremely friendly staff, looks to be family owned and the most helpful team we were met by on our most recent European trip. From arranging transportation, to restaurant recommendations and the welcoming presence of the staff throughout our stay, I’d definitely recommend this hotel. The views from the rooms and restaurant are amazing, probably the best in the city. The restaurant is also very good, make sure to reserve a table. Breakfast was the best we had yet in our travels throughout Italy. Great accommodations.

Amazing hotel with spectacular views. Spacious and lovely rooms. Friendly staff who carried our luggage up the steps from the street. We were greeted with a frozen lemon cocktail which we enjoyed on the balcony of our room. Would highly recommend.

This hotel was so amazing and the restaurant was amazing as well. John and Anna were so sweet and welcoming and always made sure we were happy. Even on our last day we left so early and they packed us breakfast to go and arranged the car to pick us up. They also gave us towels for free to use during the day and always made sure our room was well stocked and cleaned. When you leave the room you can also see how hard room service is working to make sure everything is spotless. Also, the view is breathtaking and the people make it so much better. Overall we can’t wait to come back we had such a great time and had so many laughs with the team at hotel California.

Our stay at Hotel California was amazing, the location and view is the best in Positano. All the staff are lovely and very helpful, beautiful family business. Restaurant was also delicious. Highlight of our European holiday.

This place was amazing! The service was exceptional, the staff was so friendly and accommodating. They’re free breakfast and restaurant was great! Location for this hotel is what makes it 10/10! It gives you the same view as Le Sirenuse, it’s close to the bus stop if you are visiting the other towns, and it’s close to Positano city center. This was an amazing hotel!!!!

This hotel is way more than a 3-star hotel. It has the best view of Positano. If you are lucky and get a good room like us you really enjoy the view but overall I think all of the rooms have a view but ours was on the corner and the best.
The room service was great and everybody were super friendly and helpful. They could make reservations for us for the best restaurants in Positano. The restaurant also has a great view and food and definitely you should spend at least one night there. I think they should update their photos because it is misleading and the actual room is really better itself. Thank you for having us, we had a great time in your hotel.

Wonderful location, just 5 minutes down to the beach, the view is absolutely amazing, their restaurant is 10/10. Breakfast every morning was lovely, Rooms are so clean, staff here are so amazing and sweet, seems to be family owned, they help you anyway they can. Way more than a 3 star hotel if you ask me, if you’re looking for a great hotel with a view you can’t beat in an amazing location, definitely stay here. 100% would come back here.

A hotel to return to. Ideally located within short walking distance to town centre and water front. Spacious room with balcony overlooking sea and town views. High standard of cleanliness with fresh towels and toiletries supplied daily. Great choice for breakfast on patio with great views. Management and staff were most helpful. Can highly recommend this hotel.

Amazing hotel in a great location, not too far from the beach and shops and down the road from a bus stop. The complimentary breakfast every morning was delicious, staff was attentive and kind. Rooms were cleaned daily and staff were happy to help us with any questions we had. We will be back!
