Lovely place. Location is perfect, tent pitches are very nice, staff is friendly and welcoming (their english is very good btw). They have a modern reservation system on their website and answer quickly to emails which is a big plus in my opinion. The kiosk have some snacks and cold drinks.
Summer 2024 : it is true that currently the shower / toilet area situation is not great but to my understanding they are going to do a full renovation next winter. If you are planning to come before the renovation I think this place still worth it, the other points are just so great.

We stayed 2 nights at this very nice camp site only 6 minutes cycle to beautiful Volterra. The staff are extremely friendly and the facilities are good and clean. The pitches are well kept if a little small but that seems the norm for Italy. We had plenty of space as the site was not full at our time of visiting. The high light of course is the fantastic location to the amazing amazing historic Volterra and this whole area is a photograph on every bend of the road.

Camping on top of the hill, near the beautiful city of Volterra. From the camping it’s a 15-20 minute hike uphill. The hike is not so sooted for wheelchairs because it’s very steep.
Super super kind welcome of the staff at camping La Balze. You can choose the spot you want. We payed €14 pp + €1 touristtax pp and €10 for our campervan for one night.
In the evening we had Aperols at the campingbar and in the morning we ordered some gooood Italian coffees. It was wonderful, and better than if we would make it ourselves.
The toilets and showers are a little older but nicely maintained, this is perfect for us. It’s in open air, what was a very nice experience under the Tuscan sun.
The pool is amazing. Open until 19h so we took a swim every morning and evening. Thank you! We recommend this camping a lot. The location near to Volterra is just great.

Beautiful campsite just outside Volterra. The walk into town is about 15-20 minutes and leads through beautiful medieval streets. The campsite is quite small and rustic - there’s a nice rustic flair (and free table-tennis). The washing-rooms are fairly old but clean.
The manager is absolutely lovely and very helpful.
Best part: there’s an insanely beautiful viewpoint just behind the camp.

Very nice small camping. No big crowds. Near the city center (big hike up though). Nice swimming pool (you will need a swimming cap, you can buy them in the camping shop). Sanitary is older but good (showers are great). Large camping spots. Bit pricey but worth it. We rented scooters to check out the towns in the neighbourhood. The desk at the camping can help you with that.

Great little camp with a really cool owner, who is very welcoming and helpful. The campsite itself is overlooking the Village of Volterra ehich is stunning. The pool is closed because its end of season tho ut was 26 degrees today and a swim would have been sensational. The showers and toilets are spotless but are also due for a upgrade. Pitches are big and flat. Bus stop out The front for those who need to use one if less mobile. Location location location plus Its a nice little joint.

Amazing spaces and services, you feel by the nature. Not so crowded. Good pool. Showers and toilets old and needing maintaining, but very clean.
Family space, definitely recommend.

This is a great camping place. During our stay it was nice and quite. It is very great that the camping place has there own pool wich you can use how much as you want. The pricing is also affordable. Not so expensive. The location was perfect. Many beautiful Tuscan cities nearby. Even the cost is within travel distance if you have a car. Volterra was nice. Sienna also and San Giminano was we think the best village we have been too. We where here in corona time so off course it was quite everywhere. Dont forget to go to the white beach of vada. It was like going to a tropical place.

We (3 friends) stayed 6 nights on this very nice campsite. Most of all we loved the staff who were very welcoming and kind. They always had great tips for something to do. Thanks to them we had some great nights out in Volterra, which is only a 10 min walk from the campsite! The campsite itself has plenty of shadow, a nice big swimming pool and great cappuccino at the reception. Thank you for the amazing stay we will hopefully be back and recommend it to our friends and family!

Camping located on the edge of Volterra. There is no division into parcelles. Many trees that give a pleasant shadow. And pool! This is the best solution for children. Hosts very nice. Toilet are large, daily cleaned, but already old. Perfect place for a longer stay and visiting the area. 1 km to the old town. 2 km to Coop shop. Highly recommended for families with children.

This place is how a camping site should be like. Excellent hospitality, nature (fire flies at night), good wines and restaurants(dont forget truffels), and a nice village at walkable distance. Also, this location is very central near most places you need to visit while you are in Tuscany like Pisa, San Gimignano, and Siena. For trusted trip advice ask Tony, he works there and is very helpful in giving you advice on where to go
(btw Tony should open up his own local tourist office).

My husband and I are from Australia we are staying here in a camper and the owner Tony is just a delight right from word go he’s made our stay here amazing.
The showers are hot and good maybe a tiny little bit of paint might work in the showers and toilets but just a suggestion Tony if you paint the showers in white people like Michael who get up at sparrow fart in the morning can see what he’s doing it was alittle dark in there he gets up early in the morning but other than that you have a lovely park and I wish you Tony your wife and family all the very best and please try and do those hours to get down under.
Cheers Henny and Michael.👍
