We were blessed with perfect weather and the views are simply stunning up here. Welcoming staff in the hotel, comfy rooms, surprisingly reasonable prices in the restaurant and worth every penny to stay up here. We did a 1.5 hr walk out the back of the hotel and the photo says it all. If you can stay up here instead of busy Zermatt, just do it.

Fantastic two night stay up at 3100 meters! The room had basic but high quality furnishings. And of course, the amazing location. Particularly in the early evening and morning when the only people up on the mountain are guests and staff. Breakfast was great but dinner was phenomenal, particularly given the isolated location.

We stayed at the Gornergrat hotel for two nights and it was spectacular.

The views on the way up (and down) on the train are out of this world and from memory I think the trip up and down is approx 40-45 mins. The train adds a considerable level of cost to the trip but totally worth it in my opinion.

The rooms were very comfortable and warm, no issues with the accommodation at all and there was plenty of hot water for a shower at the end of each day. The room was very clean and exceptionally easy to relax in with tea/coffee making facilities. To be honest though its the views that are the highlight of each room and to be bale to sit with a warm drink and look out over the Matterhorn really is priceless. In terms of the accommodation the only thing I would change is to add a place for guests to use during the day away from the general restaurant area as it can be very busy and it would be nice to have a quiet sitting place outside of your room. I appreciate that space is tight at such a location but it is very busy during the day. After 6pm you have the entire place to yourself and at that point it really feels very special.

Each and every member of the hotel team that we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful, especially in the evenings when only residents remained on site. Even the chefs made an effort to say a cheery hello when they came front of house. We felt well looked after.

It would be prudent to consider the altitude and conditions when visiting. We underestimated the effects of living at 10000ft for a few days v's a short visit. I was amazed at how the lack of oxygen gets to your legs and drains your energy. A day acclimatising in Zermatt would help if you had that opportunity. It really all comes down to how you are personally affected. We had a difficult night of sleep initially but the second night was much better.

I think it would be wise to check with your travel insurance company to make sure you are covered should something go wrong at that altitude, I suspect that emergency help at the top of the mountain could be very, very expensive if you need it after the trains have stoped running. We visited in mid December, when we left Zermatt the temperature was -5, on stepping off the train at the hotel it was around -20 so be sure to dress appropriately. With the correct clothing the experience is exhilarating.

There is absolutely no handholding and you would be free to wander off into the roof of the alps if you took a wrong turn!

There are lots of viewing areas and some other leisure activities, shops etc. There is also a decent sized cafe with hot food and drinks during the day.

Breakfast and an evening meal were included in the stay and the food was fantastic, especially on the first night where there was a huge buffet and cheese fondue. Probably one of the best meals I've ever had. LOVED it.

Before arriving we had to give a list of food requirements which we appreciated as i have a nut allergy and my wife is vegetarian. Unfortunately I was served food with nuts twice, on the first occasion a bowl of nuts and the second time in a soup which was thankfully noticed by a member of staff who whisked the food away and replaced it. My wife was served a vegetarian desert which we suspected probably contained gelatine, we asked if the desert was veggie and were told yes, when we asked to confirm with the kitchen our suspicions were confirmed. Getting important food requirements wrong in such an isolated location is asking for trouble so if you stay I would double check if you are not sure.

Not a cheap trip, but it is a once in a lifetime experience so you'll have to decide if it's worth it for you. From the experience we had I can highly recommend the train trip and the hotel, it was an amazing experience.

This place is magical, especially at sunrise and sunset. The views are just spectacular and mind blowing. Rooms are well heated and comfortable, service is impeccable and the half board meals are so good. We had chinoise fondue for dinner and the ingredients for the fondue such as veal, prawns, salmon and lamb were so fresh. Breakfast was fantastic as well. Highly recommend staying here at least 2 nights!

This place is out of this world.
The location is utterly amazing. Incredibly stunning.
The service is great. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. They put a chair in my shower for me (I can't stand up). They did amazing food and service and I think they are great.
The rooms: have everything you could need. Comfortable, modern, en-suite, everything you could need.
Just the best.

We stayed in the Monte Rosa room, it was such an unique experience, viewing the mountains from windows all around.
We got to see a sky full of stars at night(But it was a little cloundy unfortunately)
Restaurant view was also amazing.
Surely worth the visit.

This hotel is just awesome. Starting with the obvious, it has the most amazing view of the Matterhorn and the other peaks, it's like you can touch them! and if you wake up early, you are privileged enough to have all the magic for yourself (I mean before tourists arrive on the train). The restaurant is beautiful and cozy, and so is the room. The options for dinner are limited, but it wasn't a problem for us because everything was very good, and the breakfast was very good and complete. The room is spacious and I was gladly surprised by the size of the bathroom (big!). Apart from this, which is already very good, I must say that the service was great. Every single person we met had this really nice attitude, the two ladies at the restaurant, the waiter and finally Kathrina at the reception.

Now a little warning: Since it's located at 3100 m some people might experience mountain sickness. In my case, everything was fine until 2 am, when I woke up with a horrible headache, so I advise everybody to do some research on how to avoid this before actually going there. The receptionist did mention earlier that night that we should drink a lot of water and that she would be available all night if we had any problems, but we didn't want to call her unless it got really serious, so we didn't. I eventually got better and went back to sleep, but if you're prone to altitude sickness, take this into consideration.

Finally, the only thing I wish the hotel would have done differently is if the staff wore masks (they didn't). I'm aware that it is impossible to eliminate all the risk factors for covid and that it is primarily the guests decision to travel during these times (end of july, 2020), but I appreciate when organizations make everything in their hands to make their clients/guests and their own staff feel safer, specially in the hospitality industry.

We got snowed in at this hotel, which was ok because we had planned to spend the night anyway. It was very cozy, with comfortable beds and a much-appreciated humidifier to counteract the dry mountain air. Huge bonus-- the towel racks in the bathroom were heated!

The food at the restaurants was ok; not amazing like a lot of the other restaurants we are at throughout Zermatt, but not bad either. The service was excellent.

In the morning, the clouds had lifted just enough to get some phenomenal photos of the sunrise over the Matterhorn before we headed back down on the train.

The staff is super friendly and offers a great service quality, the restaurant is very cozy and the food was nice, the room very comfy and super clean, and most important the Sunrise is mind blowing (unfortunately we didn’t have the chance the see the stars at night due to the storm). We will definitely come back!

The hotel is great, the rooms perfect - with a Scandinavian touch in a very positive sense. Every room has a spectacular view - Matterhorn or Monte Rosa. The Restaurant is hotel guests only - at least in the evening as nobody else is (can be) there. The food is great. The service - depends on the person doing it, but is basically ok. Wasn't there much during the day... went skiing :-)

Fantastic view of the famous Matterhorn! Thanks to Joel, Thomas and the F & B team for the hospitality. We learnt from Thomas that each room are named after a mountain, how interesting!! Recommended lodging for anyone who wants to capture and be mesmerised by beauty of the famous Matterhorn.

Wonderful hotel with updated rooms and probably the best view in all of Zermatt. Breakfast and dinner was included in the price and the food was good. If you don't have a lift ticket plan on paying $80 for the train from Zermatt round trip. A lift ticket and includes the train. Definitely the view from our room was the best I've ever experienced.

Excellent hotel, our highlight of visiting Zermatt. I booked a room with the Matterhorn view from a window and ended up with a balcony, I was definitely lucky because they have only one room with a balcony terrace. It was our first time and we was very happy with the welcoming and great news of the room upgrade! The Hotel staff was very polite and informative about the altitude and advised us to use the humidifier in the room and to drink plenty of water! We had lunch on the terrace restaurant and it was superb. There was a 4 course dinner with salad bar included in the half board which was more than enough. Service was very polite and attentive! Will definitely be visiting again!

I can't believe this place is a 3 star. I'd give it a 4 star with a 5 star for service. The location / setting is amazing but watch for altitude sickness. The food was very good (not gourmet, but very hearty, delicious and generous) and rooms spacious with amazing views. We have stayed in some amazing hotels and this one, while maybe not luxurious, is bucketlist worthty. Ski right out the door.... Just one little nit was the pillows were very lumpy and awful. If I was coming to Zermatt just once to see the Matterhorn, there would be no other option. Excellent!

Stayed here for one night, though quite expensive, we decided to get the room with the Matterhorn view. We were so excited when we were told that our room was the only room with a balcony looking straight at the Matterhorn. OMG, it was such a joy staying in this wonderful room at a height of over 3000m above sea level, watching the sunset from our room as the sun dropped slowly behind the Matterhorn. My husband even took his camera, went out to shoot the milky way and he was not disappointed! It was quite a once in a life time experience! Definitely worthwhile! Service staff was excellent also! Very satisfied! Also had a nice dinner in the dinning room with views!

We spent a one week dream Holiday during Christmas 2021. The location is stunning at 3100m. Mornings and evening are extremely calm after/before last train. We have been spoiled by the wonderful Team. Thank you Christine, Katherina, Yan, Christian, Jenifer, Fernando, Dalibor and all the other team’s members we may have forgotten.
… Finally, one last point to add to the above rating. We have missed our first night due to bad weather on the road to Tasch. The management has been kind, asking whatever we need help to book a hotel and finality didn’t charge us for this first night. Again, a great thank you.

EVERYTHING IS JUST FANTASTIC.
From we checked in till we departed, we love everything...

We came here in May.
My GF wants to see the Matterhorn.
And I want to ski there.
Both wishes are fulfilled!

One of the most touching thing is, the staff helped us to check the cable car open time without our asking!

The view of Matterhorn is absolutely breathtaking...
Weather is better at early morning. The best shot to see the most beautiful Matterhorn is to either catch the first train or stay here.

Compare with all the other hotels we stayed in Swiss, this is the best with no doubt!
